Chapter 7 The Overconfident Woman

Being called upon by the teacher in class usually draws everyone's attention.

This time was no exception.

Wang Yue turned off the system panel and responded, "Here."

"Hahaha..."

A wave of laughter swept through the room.

"Did you hear what I just said? Did you think you were actually being called upon?"

Hao Lan's expression turned sour.

"I heard you, teacher. A classroom simulation," Wang Yue replied, standing up with a smile.

"Begin. You play Li Hua."

Hao Lan's expression softened slightly.

Although Wang Yue's English grades in university were good, it was mostly passive knowledge, and his spoken English had always been a weak point.

He thought to himself that his newly acquired "English Oral Proficiency" would come in handy.

"May I have a glass of water, please?"

Wang Yue uttered a stream of fluent American English, instantly silencing the class.

The pronunciation was so authentic, like the original voice from a listening comprehension exercise.

Shock!

Hao Lan's pupils contracted. As an English teacher, she knew better than the students how incredible Wang Yue's fluent spoken English was. Even she couldn't achieve such pure American intonation!

What followed was purely Wang Yue's solo performance.

His fluent American English even made Hao Lan seem inadequate in comparison.

The students, initially stunned, became numb, completely overwhelmed.

"We have the same teacher, how can the gap be so big?"

"Alright, you can sit down. Your spoken English is very good."

Finally, Hao Lan conceded, hastily ending the simulation. Her gaze towards Wang Yue had changed dramatically.

There was relief mixed with shame.

Relief that this student was indeed remarkable, and shame that after studying English for over 30 years, she was still outdone by a student.

"Brother Yue, you're awesome!"

Hu Qianhao gave a thumbs-up, his excitement as if he himself had just performed the simulation.

Meanwhile, Zhuo Yao turned her head, looking at Wang Yue's handsome face as if it were glowing.

Her heart fluttered, and she quickly turned back, then took out a small piece of paper and wrote, "Actually, it's not impossible for me to give you another chance."

Seizing an opportunity when the teacher wasn't looking, Zhuo Yao quickly slipped the note onto Wang Yue's desk.

Wang Yue didn't even look at it. He crumpled it into a ball and tossed it into his desk drawer.

"Brother Yue, aren't you going to read it?"

Hu Qianhao said with a lewd grin, "Maybe Zhuo Yao is asking you to meet her in the woods tonight?"

"Not interested."

Wang Yue said indifferently.

"Awesome!"

Hu Qianhao looked up to him with renewed respect.

After class, Wang Yue found himself surrounded by a throng of people, mostly girls, as expected in a liberal arts class.

"Wang Yue, how are you so amazing? How did you practice your spoken English?"

"Classmate Wang Yue, can you teach me English in the future?"

"Wang Yue, your new hairstyle is so handsome, I really like it."

Hu Qianhao's eyes turned green with envy. When would he ever receive such attention?

Just then, Hu Qianhao's eyes widened as if he had seen a ghost. He saw the class monitor and beauty, Qiao Zixuan, walking towards Wang Yue.

"Classmate Wang Yue."

Qiao Zixuan, her high ponytail swaying, a faint smile on her beautiful oval face.

"What is it, monitor?"

Wang Yue asked.

In his past life, Wang Yue had no interaction with Qiao Zixuan. He only heard that she later got into a prestigious university in Shanghai, a true lady of eminence.

"I'd like to ask you to teach me spoken English, could you?"

Qiao Zixuan brushed a strand of hair from her face and smiled.

"Gulp."

Hu Qianhao swallowed hard. The class monitor usually maintained an aloof and cold demeanor; when had she ever acted so girlishly?

Xie Te, sitting in the back, instantly crushed his mineral water bottle, its cap flying off and water spilling everywhere.

Everyone in the class knew he liked Qiao Zixuan, and she had never smiled at him.

Jealousy burned fiercely!

Xie Te wished he could tear Wang Yue apart right then and there.

"Kid, if you dare to agree, I'll beat you until you're spitting teeth."

Xie Te sneered inwardly.

Having attended a martial arts school for a few years, he was confident in his abilities.

"You can ask me if you don't understand something, but I might not always have time."

Wang Yue said with a smile.

What the heck?

Everyone was stunned.

Someone actually rejected the class monitor!

She was the class beauty.

Qiao Zixuan also paused for a moment, then smiled, "It's okay, I can wait until you have time."

With that, she turned and left.

Xie Te's veins bulged, and in his rage, he wished he could grab Wang Yue and beat him up right now.

How dare you?

How dare you reject my goddess!

Gu Zhi had been observing Xie Te's reaction. A glint of joy appeared on his face, thinking that with Xie Te's help, the humiliation he suffered that day could certainly be repaid a hundredfold.

He immediately sat down next to Xie Te.

"Xie Te, do you want to beat up Wang Yue? I can help."

Gu Zhi's tiny, bean-like eyes gleamed.

"Do I need your help to beat someone up?"

Xie Te replied with a mocking tone.

It wasn't that Xie Te didn't respect Gu Zhi; students from their martial arts school were very close-knit. In Erzhong, there were at least thirty students from martial arts schools. If he rallied them, even the troublemakers outside the school would retreat.

"Heh, I know you're skilled, but you might not be that kid's match."

Gu Zhi raised his eyebrows.

He still felt a lingering fear recalling Wang Yue's terrifying grip.

"You don't need to provoke me. I'll deal with this kid. It's not your place to boss me around."

Xie Te sneered.

Seeing that his objective was achieved, Gu Zhi said no more and returned to his seat.

As the class bell rang, the "flocking birds" surrounding Wang Yue finally returned to their seats. The second class was history, taught by the homeroom teacher, Zuo Yue.

Wang Yue didn't slack off during this class; instead, he listened attentively.

In his previous life, Zuo Yue had always looked out for Wang Yue, and he was a teacher he respected from the bottom of his heart.

High school history was quite dry, mostly involving rote memorization.

This class proceeded without any incidents and ended smoothly.

Having attended two consecutive classes, Wang Yue felt a bit tired. It had been over a decade since he was last in school, and returning to the classroom required some adjustment.

Wang Yue walked out of the classroom, and Zhuo Yao followed him.

"I know you still like me, don't you?"

Zhuo Yao suddenly said.

Wang Yue ignored her, stretching lazily.

Such self-entitled women were truly off-putting!

"Don't pretend. I know you're still angry about me asking Gu Zhi and Wang Yucheng to teach you a lesson. I apologize, alright? I'm quite happy that you rejected Qiao Zixuan for me today."

Zhuo Yao continued, "When I break up with Yuan Jian, I can still give you a chance to pursue me."

Wang Yue finally couldn't help but scoff. He turned his head and looked directly into Zhuo Yao's eyes, "Let me correct you."

"First, I didn't reject Qiao Zixuan for you."

"Second, why don't you take a look at yourself in a puddle? What makes you think I would revolve around you?"

"Third, please stop bothering me from now on, because when I see you, there are only two words I feel: disgust."

With that, Wang Yue walked towards the restroom without looking back, making a strategic retreat to pee!

Zhuo Yao's face turned from red to pale, then to a livid blue, "You bastard! I'll make you regret this."
