The next day, Su Fan chose to return.
There were still many matters in the new city that required his attention, and he couldn't be away for too long.
He took Liu Qing with him.
"Did you take the pills I gave you yesterday?"
On the road, Su Fan asked Liu Qing.
Liu Qing lowered her head and shook it gently.
Her addiction had not acted up last night.
"Take these pills. Eat one when the urge strikes. After finishing ten, your addiction will be cured." Su Fan poured nine pills from the medicine pot and handed them to Liu Qing.
Liu Qing took them, looking somewhat confused.
"Aren't we going to the rehabilitation center?" It was then that she realized they were not heading in that direction.
"No. Follow my instructions and take these pills, and you'll be cured. But remember, I'm only helping you this once. If you dare to relapse, I won't save you again," Su Fan warned Liu Qing.
He knew that rehabilitation centers were difficult places and might not necessarily help Liu Qing quit. Having met her, Su Fan decided to lend her a hand, but only this once. If Liu Qing dared to relapse, Su Fan would not tolerate it.
"Okay, will this really work?" Liu Qing expressed doubt. If addiction were so easy to quit, so many families wouldn't have been ruined.
"Don't you know if it works? Didn't you take one yesterday?" Su Fan said.
Liu Qing thought about it. When she had felt the urge yesterday, taking the pill hadn't brought any special sensation, but it was true that the craving had subsided at that moment.
"Where are we going now?" Liu Qing asked, still confused.
Since they weren't going to the rehabilitation center, where was Su Fan taking her?
"To my place," Su Fan replied.
"Ah?" Liu Qing was taken aback.
"But I'm not ready yet," Liu Qing said hesitantly.
"Ready for what? Everything is there, you don't need to prepare anything."
This made Liu Qing even more embarrassed, unsure how to refuse Su Fan.
"Su Fan, even though you've helped me, we're moving too fast," Liu Qing said, blushing slightly.
"What are you talking about?"
Su Fan had no ulterior motives. He simply wanted Liu Qing to stay in the rental apartment he used to live in. It was vacant anyway, and he still had half a year's rent paid for it.
"I'm taking you to the rental apartment I used to live in. I don't live there anymore. You probably don't have a place to stay in the new city, right?"
"Oh, so that's what you meant." Liu Qing immediately realized she had misunderstood and felt a bit awkward.
"You can stay here for now. Call me anytime if you need anything. Oh, and don't call at night; I won't answer," Su Fan instructed Liu Qing after taking her to the old rental apartment, adding the last sentence as an afterthought.
He had to enter the game at night and wouldn't hear his phone ringing.
"Okay," Liu Qing nodded. She didn't want to trouble Su Fan anymore; he had already helped her more than enough.
"Alright, I'm heading back then."
Su Fan bid Liu Qing farewell and drove to the company.
"Mr. Su."
"Mr. Su."
The company employees greeted Su Fan as they saw him.
There were several new, unfamiliar faces in the company, likely hired by Su Yutong. It was a busy time for Hongfan Jewelry.
Su Fan walked directly into the general manager's office. He opened the door to find a woman with a neat short haircut, wearing a fitted suit, exuding the aura of a strong businesswoman.
"Why didn't you knock?"
The businesswoman frowned, appearing displeased with Su Fan.
"Oh, I'm sorry."
Su Fan turned around, closed the door, and knocked.
"Is that better now?"
Su Fan turned back to ask her.
The businesswoman was speechless.
You asked me to knock, and you're doing it again? Why don't you go outside and knock? What's the point of closing the door and knocking from the inside?
"Alright, what is it?"
The businesswoman didn't want to argue with him and inquired.
"Nothing much, just came to take a look. Who are you?" Su Fan asked curiously.
"I'm your new general manager. My name is Dongfang Tingyin. My information will be sent to your phones later,"
Dongfang Tingyin said.
"Oh, then I won't bother you. You carry on with your work." Upon learning that she was the new general manager, Su Fan had no further issues. He hadn't expected Su Yutong to act so quickly and find a professional manager in just one day.
"Wait! And who are you?" As Su Fan was about to leave, Dongfang Tingyin couldn't let him go so easily. He barged into the general manager's office for no apparent reason, said a few strange things, and was leaving?
"I'm also part of this company. I won't disturb your work," Su Fan offered a casual explanation and prepared to leave.
"Stop! I suspect your intentions are impure. Explain yourself, or I'll take you to the police station!" Dongfang Tingyin insisted on not letting Su Fan leave, simply because Su Fan's identity was unknown.
"Actually, I'm your boss. My surname is Su," Su Fan explained.
"Boss? You, like this, are the boss?" Dongfang Tingyin was skeptical. The main reason was Su Fan's unchanging attire; even now, he still wore ordinary brands and never designer labels.
"Don't I look like it?" Su Fan asked, extending his hand in confusion.
"If you were to cut your hair and wear a proper suit, you might look a bit like a boss," Dongfang Tingyin said with a sneer, glancing at Su Fan's attire.
"Alright, you're right. I'm leaving then. If you need anything, find Su Yutong," Su Fan said casually and left without regard for her attempts to stop him.
Dongfang Tingyin had intended to have someone stop Su Fan, but upon hearing him mention Su Yutong's name, she hesitated.
Could it be true?
Dongfang Tingyin immediately called Su Yutong to confirm.
"Yutong, is the Su Fan you mentioned tall and thin, with long hair and wearing cheap clothes?" Dongfang Tingyin asked when Su Yutong answered the phone.
"Yes, you saw him?" Su Yutong nodded on the other end of the line.
"Ah?"
Dongfang Tingyin's face contorted into a wry smile. She had offended the boss on her first day of work, which was quite ironic.
"What's wrong? Was Su Fan rude to you? I'll teach him a lesson for you!" Su Yutong asked curiously.
"No, it's fine. I'll handle it myself." Dongfang Tingyin decided it was best to resolve it herself and not trouble Yutong.
"Cousin, Su Fan is a very good person. Don't bully him," Su Yutong cautioned.
"I understand. He is indeed easy to get along with. It's just my own issue. I'll hang up now."
Dongfang Tingyin could see that Su Fan was easy to get along with; he hadn't gotten angry even when she had made things difficult for him.
Dongfang Tingyin was Su Yutong's cousin. Su Yutong's mother was Dongfang Tingyin's aunt. When Su Yutong learned that Su Fan wanted her to find a professional manager to run the company, she immediately thought of her cousin.
Dongfang Tingyin had graduated from INSEAD and had served as general manager in several companies, possessing extensive management experience and strong professional skills.
She recalled how her cousin had given up her career to return to the family due to family disputes. Knowing that her cousin was not currently employed by any company, she decided to give her a call. To her surprise, her cousin agreed without hesitation and even flew to the new city overnight.
