Chapter 41 The Assessment

"What is Fen Jue?" Xiao Yan asked, completely bewildered, not knowing what Su Fan was talking about.

"It's nothing, my name is Su Fan," Su Fan said, pushing aside the chaotic thoughts in his mind and speaking to Xiao Yan.

"Brother Xiao, how prepared are you this time? Do you have confidence in entering Baiyue Villa?" Xiao Yan asked quietly.

"Prepared? Not much preparation. How about you, Brother Xiao? After a year, you must be fully prepared, right?" Su Fan shook his head.

"Not at all, not at all."

Xiao Yan waved his hand modestly.

"I just worked hard for a whole year, it's nothing."

Although Xiao Yan was humble in his words, the upward curve of his lips betrayed him. At this moment, Xiao Yan was incredibly happy. He had prepared for a whole year to join Baiyue Villa!

"Then I congratulate Brother Xiao in advance," Su Fan said, cupping his fists in congratulation.

"Brother Xiao, we're here."

As the two spoke, they had unknowingly reached the mountaintop.

The mountaintop was now crowded with people.

However, after walking all the way here, the queue was not long. The crowded area was for those who had already been tested or eliminated.

"Brother Su, you first," Xiao Yan gestured for Su Fan to go ahead.

"Then thank you, Brother Xiao," Su Fan didn't stand on ceremony and walked directly in front of Xiao Yan to begin the test.

"Place your hand on the stone bell to test your martial talent." Su Fan didn't understand and could only follow the examiner's instructions, placing his hand on the giant stone bell in front of him.

This stone bell was over two meters tall, carved entirely from stone, and was a single piece. He didn't know how it was made.

Su Fan's hand had been on the stone bell for a long time with no reaction.

"Examiner, is there something I'm doing wrong?" Su Fan asked curiously.

"Su Fan, martial talent: none, eliminated!" The examiner did not answer Su Fan's question but directly announced the result.

"Huh? That's not right!"

Su Fan was a little stunned. He was here to complete the main quest, and he was already eliminated?

Su Fan glanced at the main quest on his mission panel again. It was correct: join Baiyue Villa. How could this be different from the script!

"Examiner, I'm here to join Baiyue Villa. I even have a recommendation letter from Master Li!" Su Fan said loudly.

The surrounding people all turned to look, and upon hearing Su Fan's words, they sneered.

"Brother Su, don't say anything more. Everyone who can get here has a recommendation letter, it's not worth showing off," Xiao Yan whispered to Su Fan.

He felt embarrassed for Su Fan.

"What?!"

Su Fan was stunned.

How could this be completely different from the plot?

Ever since he reached level ten, it felt like this game had become a real world, no longer just following the plot.

Like now, the main quest was stuck!

"Get out of the way! Don't delay our testing!"

Su Fan was unceremoniously pushed aside by the people behind him. His wooden token was also collected by the examiner, which meant he was eliminated and could not proceed to the next round.

"Damn it!"

Su Fan sat to the side, feeling annoyed, looking at the mountain gate so close yet so far.

"Sigh!"

Su Fan sighed.

What should he do now? The main quest was stuck, let alone what would happen later.

"Why are you here?"

A voice that Su Fan found somewhat familiar suddenly reached his ears.

Su Fan looked up and was instantly overjoyed.

"Long Die!"

The person who arrived was the female protagonist, the Saintess of Baiyue Villa!

"Shh!"

Long Die put a finger to her lips, telling Su Fan to be quiet.

"Don't let anyone hear. If my father finds out I snuck out again, he'll definitely beat me to death," Long Die whispered.

"Oh, I understand, I understand," Su Fan quickly lowered his voice.

"Are you here to register?" Long Die asked Su Fan.

"Yes, but I was eliminated," Su Fan said, feigning disappointment.

"Why?" Long Die asked, confused.

"They said I had no talent and eliminated me," Su Fan said truthfully.

"Is that so? Wait, your name is Su Fan, right?" Long Die asked.

Su Fan nodded.

Long Die ran directly to the testing examiner and, under the examiner's troubled expression, rummaged through the desk, making a mess. She picked up a wooden token and finally left with satisfaction.

"Here, take it. You passed the test, go to the assessment," Long Die said with a smile, handing the wooden token to Su Fan.

Su Fan smiled slightly. As expected, it was easier when you knew someone. The Saintess's status was not for nothing.

"Thank you!" Su Fan thanked Long Die.

He took the wooden token and went to the assessment location.

Although Su Fan took a shortcut, he couldn't skip the assessment. If Long Die could directly bring someone into Baiyue Villa, the examiner wouldn't have indulged Long Die so much.

Because even if they bypassed the test out of respect for Long Die, they still couldn't enter the villa if their strength was not up to par. So, the examiner turned a blind eye.

The assessment was divided into four categories: speed, strength, physique, and written test. Passing two of the four categories would allow one to join Baiyue Villa.

Su Fan immediately understood that these four categories corresponded to the four basic attributes.

He didn't know if Su Fan could pass. His two highest attributes were strength and constitution, followed by speed.

The four assessments were divided into four areas, and one could choose any assessment. Passing one would result in a stamp on your wooden token. A minimum of two stamps meant you were qualified.

Su Fan thought for a moment and chose the strength assessment, which had the fewest people.

"Examiner, how is the assessment?" Su Fan asked the examiner.

"Use all your strength to smash this stone tablet," the examiner said to Su Fan.

Su Fan looked at the stone tablet on the platform. The tablet was black, with lines of inscriptions carved on it. The inscriptions were in special symbols that Su Fan couldn't understand.

Su Fan raised his right hand and smashed the stone tablet with all his might.

The inscriptions on the stone tablet began to glow, lighting up line by line from bottom to top, like a battery charging.

One line, two lines, three lines, four lines...

The light continued to rise, quickly exceeding one meter in height, reaching ten lines, which surprised the examiner.

Eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, until the fifteenth line, the light stopped, finally resting on the fifteenth line.

Su Fan thought for a moment. His total attributes added up to 159 points for strength. This meant that each line of inscription represented ten points of strength attribute.

"Su Fan, strength result: excellent." The examiner looked deeply at Su Fan and stamped "excellent" on his token.

This was the first person to achieve an excellent result this year.

Su Fan walked down amidst the envious gazes of everyone and went to the speed assessment area again.

He wanted to see if his guess was correct, whether it corresponded to attribute points.

"Examiner, how does this work?" Su Fan excitedly approached the examiner.

"Work?" Su Fan's words displeased the examiner.

How could he treat a strict assessment area as a game?

"No, how is the assessment done here?" Su Fan quickly corrected himself.

"It's simple. The inscriptions on this stone tablet will flash with light. When you see the light, press it, and it will naturally measure your score," the examiner explained patiently.

"Okay, let's do it," Su Fan nodded, indicating he was ready.

It seemed that the assessment here not only tested speed but also reaction time.
