"What? What did I do wrong?"
Su Fan was confused. What had he done to be arrested?
"We just need you to help us understand a few things. Don't worry," the police officer reassured Su Fan.
Helplessly, Su Fan followed the officer.
On the way, Su Fan pondered what they wanted to ask him. He could only think of one thing that might lead to him being summoned by the police.
It was likely related to his kidnapping last time; the situation in the basement must have been discovered.
This was the only plausible reason for him to be called to the police station, as Su Fan couldn't think of anything else he had done that warranted such attention.
"Su Fan, is that you?"
Su Fan was brought to an office. Since he wasn't a suspect, he wasn't taken to an interrogation room. Dong Qimai, however, was taken to one.
"Yes, what have I done wrong?" Su Fan asked, bewildered.
"Nothing, we just have a few simple questions. Have some tea, don't be nervous," Captain Li Dawei said with a smile, offering Su Fan a cup of tea.
"Did you go to Binh River District a couple of days ago?" Li Dawei asked Su Fan.
Su Fan shook his head.
"No, I've been busy with company matters lately. I just opened a company with a friend and have been swamped. How could I have gone that far?"
"You went to the Heaven Bird Bar a few nights ago, right?" Li Dawei nodded and changed his line of questioning.
"Yes, I went to the bar once. What's wrong?"
Su Fan asked, confused.
However, he already understood that this was indeed about Li Bidi.
"You know this person, don't you?" Li Dawei produced another photo, which clearly showed Lin Yao.
"Yes, I bought my car at her dealership," Su Fan nodded.
"On the night you went to the Heaven Bird Bar, she helped you out, and you got into a car. Later that night, there was a serious fire in a basement in Binh River District, and burnt human remains were found. This woman had come out of that basement. Do you know anything about this?" Li Dawei continued to question.
"No, I was drunk that day. When I woke up, I was at home. I don't know what happened that day," Su Fan denied outright. There was no evidence, so they couldn't do much to him.
"Alright, I understand. If you remember anything, come find me immediately," Li Dawei didn't make things difficult for Su Fan and let him leave.
"Then, my jade case?"
"Don't worry, the evidence is conclusive, the surveillance footage is clear. He'll have to pay compensation," Li Dawei, knowing what Su Fan was asking about, said with a smile.
"That's good, thank you," Su Fan nodded at Li Dawei and left the police station.
After Su Fan left, Li Dawei's smile vanished.
"Captain."
"Keep a close eye on Su Fan. He's suspicious."
...
After returning, Su Fan felt something was off. The police officer had started to suspect him. If he had continued to press, Su Fan wouldn't have been so worried. But he only asked a few simple questions and brought him all the way to the police station for this?
This police officer definitely suspected him, but lacked the evidence to act.
However, Su Fan wasn't worried. They hadn't even found a body, so they couldn't file a case. Even if Su Fan admitted to it, they couldn't do anything to him.
"Hello, Su Fan, Xu Hongguang is willing to sell his shares!"
Su Yutong suddenly called him.
Xu Hongguang was the shareholder who held 10% of the shares.
"Okay, I'll be right there," Su Fan smiled slightly. He knew the other party wouldn't wait much longer.
If someone bought into a fund and watched it continuously decline, they would surely become anxious and want to cash out, preferring tangible assets over steadily depreciating ones.
Su Fan arrived at Tongya Company. Xu Hongguang had lost his previous arrogance and now looked dejected.
"Uncle Xu? Have you thought it through?" Su Fan asked.
"Yes, I've thought it through. I need money now. Fifty million, and the shares are yours," Xu Hongguang said, lowering his head.
"Alright, but I can't give you that much right now. You'll have to wait," Su Fan was short on cash at the moment and truly couldn't come up with fifty million.
"You can't do this, President Su! I'll lower it further, forty-five million. No! Forty million is fine!" Xu Hongguang seemed anxious, thinking Su Fan was going back on his word.
"If you're really short on cash, why don't you lower it more? I really don't have that much right now," Su Fan's interest was piqued when he saw the other party was willing to negotiate the price.
"How much do you have? Tell me," Xu Hongguang was too tired to argue with Su Fan and tried to find out how much Su Fan could offer.
"Uh, I only have twenty million right now..."
Su Fan felt embarrassed saying it. Twenty million for 10% of shares, when the market value was much higher.
"Twenty million... alright!" Xu Hongguang pondered for a moment and actually agreed.
Su Fan was stunned.
He agreed to such terms? Had something happened to him?
"Okay, Yutong, go get someone to draft the contract." Su Fan didn't bother to find out what had happened to Xu Hongguang. He had missed the opportunity to buy at fifty million, so who could he blame but himself?
The contract was quickly drawn up. Xu Hongguang swiftly signed his name, and Su Fan transferred twenty million to him.
Su Fan looked at the contract in his hand. It was perfectly fine.
"Alright, now you're happy. My hard-earned business is all yours," Su Yutong said with a hint of resentment.
Now her shares were only 30%, less than half of Su Fan's.
"Did you get the results from the lab analysis of the pills?" Su Fan asked Su Yutong.
"The lab said it will take some time. They're making progress, but synthesizing some elements is proving difficult," Su Yutong became serious when discussing business.
"That's good. Get the results as soon as possible. Only a new product can bring Tongya back from the brink,"
Su Yutong nodded.
Without Su Fan's financial injection during this period, Tongya would have likely declared bankruptcy. Su Fan was right; they needed a groundbreaking new product to break through the market.
"Don't just focus on things here. Pay some attention to Hongfan Jewelry as well. The exhibition is over, and Hongfan Jewelry's reputation has grown. It's waiting for you to take control," Su Fan said helplessly.
He was short on capable people right now. Lu Chun was too young to take charge, and while Jiang Hongwei could manage the store, he was as clueless as Su Fan when it came to managing a company.
Only Su Yutong was talented in this area.
"Am I a workhorse? Aren't you afraid of working me to death? Can't you find a professional manager?" The recent busyness finally made Su Yutong complain to Su Fan.
"Uh..."
Su Fan was speechless.
Indeed, it was a bit much to have Su Yutong running between two companies.
"Then, how about this: help me recruit two professional managers, and you can just oversee the big picture. It'll be less stressful. I need to go back to my hometown for a while. I'll leave the company matters to you." Su Fan quickly made his escape after saying this.
"You!"
Su Yutong glared angrily at Su Fan's retreating back and stomped her foot as if it were Su Fan beneath her.
