How is this human unharmed? Didn't I hit him?
Seizing the moment of the magma serpent's confusion, Su Fan immediately flew upwards and plunged into the magma.
Although Su Fan's spirit body could now interact with physical objects, his immunity to fire damage allowed him to move unimpeded through the magma.
The magma serpent snapped back to its senses, roared, and pursued Su Fan.
However, it couldn't catch up.
In his soul state, Su Fan was incredibly fast. Normally, one would consider factors like resistance, but as a soul, Su Fan disregarded them entirely. Flying at full power, his speed was ghost-like, unaffected by gravity.
The only drawback was his lack of vision within the magma. Everything was a uniform red, making it impossible to discern direction. Previously, he could rely on his connection to the Twin Fish Diagram for a general bearing, but now Su Fan was like a headless fly, utterly lost.
Still, he could sense the pursuing magma serpent behind him and could only press onward, desperate to escape the lava.
After what felt like an eternity, Su Fan's eyes suddenly caught a glimmer of light. A figure burst out of the magma, and Su Fan's vision cleared to reveal a new environment.
Su Fan had finally escaped!
The magma serpent followed closely, emerging from the lava right behind Su Fan and charging directly at him.
Before Su Fan could even assess his surroundings, he was slammed by the magma serpent. Its crimson horn pierced into Su Fan's spirit body.
Su Fan felt a jolt in his mind, a searing pain.
This was the effect of damage to his spirit body.
While damage to his spirit body wouldn't harm his physical form, it deeply affected his mental world. Severe damage could leave him unable to return, permanently in a vegetative state.
Using the momentum of the magma serpent's charge, Su Fan created distance and took the opportunity to survey his surroundings, thus discerning his direction.
He was currently in a section of the lava river, with no landmarks in sight. Su Fan had no idea which part of the river he was in.
However, he knew his main body was at the source of the lava river and he just needed to head upstream.
With this thought, Su Fan ignored the magma serpent and fled upstream.
At this moment, Su Fan was no match for the magma serpent. Only by finding his main body and returning to it could he stand a chance against the serpent.
Without the resistance of the magma, Su Fan's speed increased.
From below, the magma serpent revealed its head in the lava river, relentlessly pursuing Su Fan.
The magma serpent couldn't fly, but its speed within the lava was not slow, only slightly lagging behind Su Fan.
Su Fan glanced back at the slightly trailing magma serpent and felt his worry dissipate.
At this speed, the magma serpent couldn't catch him.
Not long after, Su Fan finally spotted the lava lake and, with it, his own "grave."
A grin spread across Su Fan's face as he plunged directly into the grave.
With a boom, the grave exploded.
Su Fan emerged from the rubble, looking somewhat disheveled.
He had forgotten that his spirit body now had the ability to collide with physical objects. The impact had left his head ringing.
Su Fan shook his head, once again feeling his own strength.
He looked at his hands. After his soul had returned, his right hand had also changed.
Though it looked the same, Su Fan could feel a scorching energy emanating from his right hand, as if it held an inexhaustible supply of fiery power.
The magma serpent caught up at this moment, emerging from the lava with its head and spitting a mouthful of scorching "phlegm" at Su Fan.
Su Fan chuckled, shaking his head.
It seemed the magma serpent's only ability was spitting lava. With Su Fan's immunity to fire, the magma serpent was no longer a threat.
Shadow Step!
Su Fan flickered, easily dodging the magma serpent's attack.
While the magma could no longer harm him, he still didn't want to be spat on.
"I wonder if you can still resist the Divine Sunflame, empowered by the Hell's Grasp?"
Su Fan stood a short distance from the magma serpent, smiling as he addressed it.
The Divine Sunflame was already a top-tier spell, and with the artifact Hell's Grasp amplifying it, unless the magma serpent was completely immune to fire damage, it would surely be heavily wounded.
The magma serpent couldn't possibly be completely immune to fire damage. Only one of the Four Great Artifacts, Hell's Grasp, possessed such an ability. The magma serpent was merely an elite monster, not even a boss, so it couldn't have such an overpowered trait.
Divine Sunflame!
Golden flames erupted from Su Fan. Though his appearance hadn't changed, the temperature was terrifyingly high. The stones around Su Fan began to melt, transforming into magma.
Su Fan's heart stirred slightly at this, and he immediately reined in the surrounding temperature. The stones quickly cooled, ceasing to melt.
Dragon's Fury!
The golden flames on Su Fan's body coalesced behind him into a colossal fire dragon, its size comparable to the magma serpent.
Upon seeing the fire dragon, the magma serpent's face showed a rare flicker of fear.
It sensed the dragon's might from the fire dragon. Snakes were considered part of the dragon lineage, and under the dragon's aura, its movements were restricted.
"Roar!"
The fire dragon let out a deafening roar and, under Su Fan's control, charged at the magma serpent.
The magma serpent's face contorted in terror, but its body seemed frozen, unable to move.
The fire dragon slammed into the magma serpent, and scorching golden flames instantly engulfed it. The golden flames clung to the magma serpent like a curse, burning it relentlessly.
Su Fan watched as the magma serpent's health bar plummeted at a visible rate.
In mere breaths, the magma serpent's health bar reached zero.
[Ding! Congratulations on leveling up.]
Su Fan received a system notification. He was now level 71.
A flash of light appeared, and the magma serpent dropped its loot.
Su Fan quickly walked into the sea of flames and retrieved the items.
He was primarily worried that the terrifying flames might damage the equipment.
The Dragon's Fury, amplified by an artifact, was too powerful. A creature with two hundred million HP had been defeated in seconds. Who knew if it could damage equipment, especially level 70 gear? Su Fan wasn't willing to take that risk.
Vermilion Bird Boots (Blue)
Level: 70
Damage Reduction: 30%
Fire Damage +50%
Fire Ward: Creates a protective shield around the body, reducing fire damage by 60% and other attribute damage by 25%. Lasts for 10 minutes, cooldown: 30 minutes.
God of Fire Descent: Upon activation, transforms into the God of Fire, increasing all fire damage by 100%. Consumes mana continuously, 10,000 mana per second.
A blue-tier item. The difference from his previous equipment was the absence of defense stats, replaced by damage reduction.
This was good news for Su Fan, as defense was becoming increasingly useless to him.
Furthermore, the equipment came with two skills, both excellent and significantly boosting Su Fan's capabilities. Su Fan immediately equipped them on his feet.
"With this strength, dealing with the Long family should be foolproof, right?"
