Chapter 197: The Bloody Square

Chapter 197: Chapter 197: The Bloody Square

Reincarnation Space, Xilo Zone.

On an open-air platform, a golden sign stood tall.

Rock was standing under the sign, staring at the blinking codes on it like "A-9543" and "T-9678," deep in thought.

Each code stood for a different story world. The letters "T" and "A" showed how dangerous each world was.

T meant a peaceful, slice-of-life world with no danger at all—a paradise for beginners.

One step up was E, where there was some danger and you needed a bit of strength to survive. A-rank worlds, though, were out of Rock’s league.

For someone like him, trying to clear a world like that would be suicide.

"To quote those guys from the East Zone," he muttered after letting out a breath, "it’s better to keep your feet on the ground." Then added, "I’ll just farm points in T-level worlds for now. A-level ones are better left to those monsters on the War Leaderboard."

Speaking of those monsters, Rock couldn’t help but think of Amy, known as the "Exploding Bear Girl." She dominated the A-9995 world and won a massive team battle live on stream.

Could he ever become someone like that too?

Rock felt excited and full of hope.

But apparently, she went to explore a brand-new C-rank dungeon today. That confused him a bit. Why would someone like Amy bother with a C-rank world?

"Oh my God!"

A loud gasp cut off his thoughts. He turned toward the sound—and froze.

There on the return platform at the right side of the square stood a giant figure, like some kind of beast.

Was that Amy?

Realizing who it was, Rock quickly ran over, excited like a fan meeting his idol. But as he got closer, something felt wrong.

Amy was standing upright, but her entire right arm was gone. Her face looked blank, staring off into the distance like a statue from the Middle Ages.

"What happened to her?"

"Was she turned to stone by some kind of monster?"

"I thought Rael and Hans from the Flame Corps went with her. Where are they?"

More and more Reincarnators gathered around Amy, whispering and wondering.

Rock felt curious too. He gently touched her thick arm with his left hand—

And in the next second, everyone watched in horror as a thin white line sliced diagonally across Amy’s whole body.

Thud.

Her body fell to the ground in two clean halves, with blood spraying out.

Rock’s eyes widened, still not understanding what had just happened. Then he saw that the white line hadn’t disappeared—it was spreading outward, like a flower blooming.

Slice. Slice. Slice.

Every living being that the line touched—no matter how strong—was cut cleanly, like tofu. Their bodies fell apart in perfect pieces. The square quickly turned into a misty sea of blood.

Stunned.

Rock just stood there, frozen, watching the crowded square turn into a bloody nightmare—like he was trapped inside a dream.

But since Li Mochou had already ended her livestream early, no one in the group saw what just happened. They were still busy discussing Anran’s mind-reading ability.

Doujin Artist: I didn’t even know Anran-san could read minds. That’s totally cheating!

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Yeah! That means we’ve got no secrets in front of Anran-san! That’s so unfair! I want to know Anran-san’s secrets too!

Curly-haired Guy: That last part is what you really care about, isn’t it?

Soul Society’s Bad Guy: It’s not about secrets. They just want to know if Anran thinks about them at all.

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Ugh! Don’t say it out loud, Hana-nee!

This is an Actor: Fine, I’ll just say it straight. My ability is an offensive skill. It doesn’t work on you guys.

Amegakure Village’s Angel: Offensive skill?

This is an Actor: Yeah. Basically, I use telepathy to access someone’s memories and thoughts. Kind of like Legilimency in the Harry Potter world.

Scarlet Lotus Fairy: Harry Potter?

Doujin Artist: What’s that? Never heard of it.

[System Message: This is an Actor has uploaded the memory "Harry Potter"]

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: A world of magic?

Curly-haired Guy: Wizards? But these guys can only cast spells with wands—can you really call them wizards? That totally messes with everything I thought I knew about wizards!

Scarlet Lotus Fairy: The wizards in that world do seem kinda weak.

Doujin Artist: That’s not really fair. Their magic might not be super destructive, but it’s really useful and mysterious. Like that mind-reading spell Anran-san mentioned, or all the different kinds of spells. They’d be really handy in daily life.

Soul Society’s Bad Guy: Pros and cons. The problem with these wizards is how weak their bodies are. Once you get close, they’re pretty much done for.

Machete Girl: That Dark Lord guy looks so ugly. Especially his nose... looks like an electrical outlet.

Curly-haired Guy: Good one, Kotono-chan! That’s spot on. Damn, it really does look like an outlet. This guy’s scarier-looking than Kisame-san!

Shark-Faced Guy: Am I supposed to take that as a compliment?

Pretty Boy from Skull Island: I don’t like wizards. Not only do they push out other magical beings, they don’t even have any real progress themselves. That whole group is stuck in the past.

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: What do you mean?

Pretty Boy from Skull Island: Their obsession with purebloods and how they look down on mixed-bloods—it’s deeply rooted. Isn’t that backwards thinking?

Machete Girl: Yeah, that’s true. That kind of thinking is probably why wizards are slowly fading out. But since magic is supernatural, they won’t completely disappear.

Doujin Artist: Let’s stop talking about wizards. We should focus on the Reincarnators. I feel like they’re gonna be our biggest threat in the future.

Amegakure Village’s Angel: They just keep invading nonstop, and have all sorts of strange powers. Definitely a pain to deal with.

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: What’s worse is they can grow stronger too. We really can’t underestimate them.

This is an Actor: If you feel the pressure, then hurry up and get stronger. Less chatting, more time spent training.

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Well... I actually think the reincarnators aren’t that scary.

Doujin Artist: Yeah, even the one ranked 7th on the Holy War Board wasn’t that impressive. They’re not unbeatable.

Amegakure Village’s Angel: I went shopping in the real world today and saw a dress that looked pretty nice.

Machete Girl: Hahaha, the moment someone mentions training, you all suddenly change the topic. That’s real sisterhood for you!
