Chapter 2 Severing Ties

This is her kind elder sister, who only knew how to bully her since childhood, treating her like a servant.

Han Wenxiu glanced at Xia Wantang, feigning anger, "Wanfu, talk to your sister properly."

Xia Wanfu snorted and slowly walked over to sit beside Xia Linfeng, her gaze scanning Xia Wantang with undisguised disdain.

Especially when she saw the red marks on her neck, she couldn't help but let out a soft laugh.

"It seems Uncle Du was quite affectionate with my sister last night!"

Han Wenxiu followed her gaze and a wave of nausea washed over her.

She seemed to recall the greasy, plump appearance of Du Jiasheng.

Xia Wantang could no longer tolerate it. She grabbed the teapot from the coffee table and threw it to the ground.

With a loud "bang," the glass teapot shattered into pieces.

She said angrily, "You've gone too far. I may not be your biological daughter, but you can't do such dirty things. You're disgusting!"

Startled, Xia Wanfu shouted, "Are you crazy? You scared me to death! You're the disgusting one, it's you who slept with an old man."

Xia Wantang's eyes seemed to be spewing fire as she glared at Xia Wanfu, saying word by word, "Say that again?"

Looking at those crimson eyes that seemed ready to devour someone, for some reason, Xia Wanfu felt a flicker of fear.

Damn it, she was supposed to be a pushover, a nobody she could bully, so why was she afraid of her?

Xia Linfeng quickly stepped in to mediate, pulling his precious daughter Xia Wanfu behind him.

He said, "Alright, alright, stop arguing."

Han Wenxiu echoed, "Yes, we're all family. Your sister was just joking, Wantang, don't be angry."

Xia Wantang sneered, "Family? I think you're the real family! After all, I'm just an adopted daughter, how could I possibly be part of your family."

As she spoke, she looked at Xia Linfeng and said sarcastically, "President Xia, what a bold move. To do business, you're not even hesitating to sell your daughter. I'm truly enlightened today."

Xia Linfeng's face lost its color. Looking at Xia Wantang's mocking gaze, his temper flared.

He abruptly stood up and slapped Xia Wantang across the face.

"Shut up, you ungrateful wretch! I've raised you for twenty years, fed you, clothed you. Now the Xia family is in trouble, what's wrong with asking for your help? Isn't that what you should do?"

Han Wenxiu pretended to step forward and grabbed Xia Linfeng's wrist, trying to placate him, "Linfeng, don't be angry. Wantang is just in a bad mood and talking nonsense."

Then she winked at Xia Wantang, "Quickly apologize to your father, don't make him angry anymore. It's not easy for him to manage a large company and support a family."

Xia Wantang covered her face, her cheeks burning with pain.

Tears flowed down uncontrollably again. She wiped them away haphazardly, glaring at the people she considered her parents.

She said coldly, "Since that's the case, from today onwards, I consider your parental care repaid. From now on, we are severed. You should act as if you never had a daughter like me!"

Xia Linfeng immediately flung Han Wenxiu's hand away and pointed to the door, "Fine, get out! Get out and never come back, you ungrateful brat! I've wasted all these years raising you."

These were the words spoken by the father she had called for twenty years, and they were so venomous.

Tears blurred her vision, and Xia Wantang's heart shattered completely.

"My dear, I didn't expect you to be so unreasonable. Why can't you understand our difficulties?"

Han Wenxiu's pretense of kindness vanished, and she looked at Xia Wantang coldly.

"If there were any other way, your father and I wouldn't have done this. Would you be happy if the company went bankrupt?"

Xia Wantang burst into laughter and pointed at Xia Wanfu, "Then why me and not her? So I'm just deserved it, is that it? You've always favored her since I was little.

Since you don't treat me as a person, why did you bring me back to the Xia family? Why did you raise me? Wouldn't it have been better for me to die outside?"

Han Wenxiu's eyes flickered, her expression shifting uncertainly.

Xia Linfeng glared at Xia Wantang, grabbed a water glass from the coffee table, and threw it at her.

"Shut up, what right do you have to compare yourself to your sister."

The glass hit her forehead, and Xia Wantang felt a sharp pain, followed by a warm sensation trickling down her cheek.

Smelling the metallic scent of blood, she became calm at this moment.

She grabbed a few tissues from the coffee table, covered her forehead, and without looking sideways, went upstairs.

Her mind was now resolute in her decision to sever ties.

Her room was the small one at the very end of the second floor, poorly ventilated, small and dark, with the toilet next door.

She was going upstairs now to get her identification and to draft a separation agreement.

"Hmph, I thought you'd grown some backbone. If you're so capable, then get out! Aren't your wings hardened now?"

"Linfeng, say a few less words."

Hearing the heartless words behind her, Xia Wantang felt her heart turn to stone.

Indeed, once the hope is extinguished, the heart no longer aches.

She turned on the light, casually packed a few clothes, and gathered her important belongings, including her ID.

Then she sat at the desk and quickly wrote out the separation agreement.

When she went downstairs again, the whole family was gathered.

Her elder brother, Xia Yichen, had also returned.

The four of them were talking happily, looking like a loving family.

Hearing the footsteps on the stairs, the four of them lowered their voices.

Xia Linfeng's smile vanished, his expression completely cold.

Han Wenxiu was expressionless, seemingly still angry with Xia Wantang.

This time, Xia Wanfu didn't make any sarcastic remarks, perhaps having been taught a lesson.

As for Xia Yichen, he had always treated Xia Wantang as if she were invisible.

Xia Wantang walked into the living room and placed the separation agreement on the coffee table.

Fearlessly, she said to Xia Linfeng, "This is a separation agreement. Sign it, and I'll leave."

Xia Linfeng narrowed his eyes suspiciously and picked up the separation agreement Xia Wantang had written.

The other three looked at Xia Wantang in disbelief, as if they couldn't believe she would actually do this, that she dared to do this.

Although the Xia family couldn't be considered a top-tier conglomerate, they were still a wealthy family worth tens of millions.

Leaving the Xia family meant having nothing.

Xia Linfeng finished reading the agreement, his face contorting in anger. Gritting his teeth, he said, "Fine, I'll grant your wish. Get out of the Xia family, and never think of coming back."

"Wantang, are you sure you want to do this?"

Han Wenxiu stared at Xia Wantang, as if trying to discern something from her face.

"If you leave the Xia family, you'll only be able to sleep on the streets." Xia Wanfu watched with an air of schadenfreude, her eyes full of triumph.

She had hated this Xia Wantang for a long time and wished she would disappear from the Xia family.

She was born a nobody, yet she was so beautiful, tall, with exquisite features and fair skin.

Xia Yichen cast a sidelong glance at Xia Wantang and said, "Third Sister, I advise you to think carefully. If you regret it, I can intercede with Father on your behalf."

Xia Wantang remained silent, her gaze fixed on Xia Linfeng.

Xia Linfeng kept nodding, his laughter tinged with disbelief.

"Good, good, as you wish."

With two copies, Xia Linfeng scrawled his name with a flourish and pressed his thumbprint.
