Chapter 219 Father Is Here

She said it casually.

Unexpectedly, Ling Yuchen answered very seriously, "Pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding – you've done the hardest parts."

Gong Zhi Jing's heart inexplicably skipped a beat. She gazed at him, suddenly finding him incredibly handsome, handsome in a way that had nothing to do with his looks.

He had wealth and good looks, yet he could be so considerate of her. He changed diapers, stayed up late with the baby, and had never once complained or shown dissatisfaction.

Every night after feeding the baby, she would hand the child to Ling Yuchen to burp and change diapers, while she continued to sleep soundly.

She couldn't relate to how others felt, nor did she know what other husbands were like.

But in her experience, Ling Yuchen was absolutely the best!

After changing the diaper, the nanny watched the child, and the couple went to eat.

Even though they had just dealt with a dirty diaper, it didn't affect their appetite at all. This was what having a child was like; you had to face such things at any time.

Full and satisfied.

Gong Zhi Jing's thoughts drifted back to her laptop.

To get her novel signed, she needed to reach 20,000 words, and her current greatest anticipation was achieving that word count.

Seeing her again engrossed in her laptop, Ling Yuchen grew increasingly curious.

He leaned closer, but before he could see what was on the screen, the laptop was closed.

Gong Zhi Jing blinked her large eyes and said sheepishly, "I won't show you, don't be curious. I'll tell you later."

How could this not make someone curious? It only made him more eager! But Ling Yuchen still respected her choice.

"Alright, I won't look."

He consciously moved a little further away.

Gong Zhi Jing trusted him completely and let her guard down, focusing on her writing.

Ling Yuchen did not betray her trust; he didn't peek or disturb her.

The couple sat quietly on the living room sofa, one engrossed in the computer, the other in their phone.

Immersive writing was quite comfortable. Gong Zhi Jing was completely absorbed, feeling as if each character was coming alive before her eyes.

But this feeling was hard to maintain; she would get distracted or encounter writer's block.

She stretched her aching neck and turned to see Ling Yuchen still quietly by her side, a warmth blooming in her heart.

She called out, "Ling Yuchen!"

Ling Yuchen looked up at her, his gaze incredibly gentle.

"When the child is older, shall we go on a honeymoon?"

Ling Yuchen didn't understand why she suddenly brought this up, but he nodded, "You can go anytime you want."

"I want to, but as soon as I think of Leyou, I don't want to go. We'll talk about it later."

Ling Yuchen replied, "Mhm, as you wish."

"I'm sleepy, let's go to bed."

She still had to feed the baby at night, and tomorrow Ling Yuchen had to go to work. She didn't dare to stay up too late.

And if she didn't go to bed, Ling Yuchen definitely wouldn't.

Ling Yuchen got up, preparing to leave.

Gong Zhi Jing remained slumped on the sofa, stretching out her hand to him and pouting, "Husband, hug me!"

Ling Yuchen couldn't resist. He strode forward, picked her up, and quickly headed upstairs.

...

The next afternoon.

Gong Zhi Jing was strolling in the yard with the baby when Gong Ye happened to arrive.

He carried many bags of things. Seeing the pair, one adult and one child, his eyes immediately softened.

The yard was filled with flowers, their fragrance filling the air. The two figures stood amidst the blossoms, a scene of tranquility and beauty.

That familiar face, holding a child just like hers, made him feel as though he had returned twenty years ago.

He had come back from the battlefield, covered in wounds, and without attending to his injuries, he had rushed home to see his wife and child.

Back then, she was also holding their daughter, sunbathing outdoors.

Time flew by, and the beautiful moments vanished in an instant.

Even after all these years, the bloody scenes remained vivid in his memory.

...

Gong Zhi Jing casually glanced back and saw Gong Ye standing at the entrance.

Her face lit up with joy, and she called out, "Dad, when did you get here? Why didn't you say anything?"

"Just arrived."

Her cheerful and bright voice roused Gong Ye from his thoughts. He suppressed his memories and smiled.

"Why are you carrying so many things?" Gong Zhi Jing hurried forward, her tone slightly chiding.

Gong Ye scratched his head. With his usual sharp demeanor subdued, he looked remarkably harmless, even the scar seemed less ferocious.

"I brought some toys and clothes for the baby, as well as your favorite fruits and snacks!"

Gong Zhi Jing immediately handed the child to him.

"Dad, you hold her. I'll take the things inside. Thank you, Dad!"

She spotted potato chips, spicy strips, cookies, chocolate, and more.

These were all things she loved to eat. It seemed that in her father's eyes, she was still a child.

Even though she was a mother now, she still loved to eat these things.

Gong Ye held the baby stiffly, his posture like he was handling something precious. The baby was small and not heavy, but he felt it was harder to manage than a machine gun.

Gong Zhi Jing carried the things inside, happily saying, "Dad, let's go in! Are you tired? I'll ask the nanny to make you some tea."

Gong Ye didn't dare to move, maintaining his posture. His feet felt rooted to the spot.

He said awkwardly, "I'll carry the things. I... I'm afraid to hold her..."

With such a soft bundle in his hands, he didn't dare to move, let alone walk.

He had never been this nervous holding a bomb that was about to explode.

Gong Zhi Jing paused, then understanding his predicament, she found his nervous expression amusing.

But she didn't rush to take her daughter back. Instead, she pulled out her phone and quickly snapped a photo.

Ever since the baby was born, she loved taking commemorative photos, so she always carried her phone.

This scene was so worth remembering: the battle hero of a grandfather, utterly incapable of holding a baby.

Gong Ye was quite helpless but complied with his daughter's request, posing obligingly for the camera.

Only after the photo was taken did she take the baby back.

Gong Ye felt a sense of relief. His hands and legs felt weak after just a short while; it was truly terrifying.

Inside the house, Gong Zhi Jing had him sit on the sofa and patiently taught him how to hold the baby.

After several minutes, Gong Ye finally managed to cradle his granddaughter in his arms.

However, his movements were still clumsy, yet they exuded caution and tenderness.

Ling Leyou also adored her grandfather, giggling happily.

The father and daughter had a rare moment of relaxed companionship. Gong Zhi Jing sat cross-legged on the sofa, munching on potato chips, feeling like a child again.

But she only ate a little, not indulging herself too much, as she was breastfeeding and couldn't eat too many snacks.

Seeing her enjoy herself so much, Gong Ye was also very happy, his smile never fading from his face.

Before long, Ling Leyou fell asleep. Gong Zhi Jing was about to ask the nanny to take the baby to rest.

But Gong Ye refused; he wanted to watch the baby constantly.

Gong Zhi Jing, with nothing else to do, started writing again. Even though she only needed 20,000 words, it felt like an endless task.

Facing the computer, she racked her brains and poured her heart into it, yet she kept striving.

The beginning is always the hardest. Once she gets past this, success will surely follow!
