Chapter 86 Reluctant to Part

"Okay," Xia Wantang’s face clearly lit up with joy.

Although she had known Ling Yuchen for less than half a month, she couldn't be without him.

The next half month passed simply and ordinarily, yet with many added seasonings, most of which were sweet.

As the start of school drew near, Xia Wantang’s reluctance grew stronger.

Consequently, she became incredibly clingy.

Often leaving Ling Yuchen amused and exasperated, his heart melting like butter.

The day before school started.

Ling Yuchen’s gaze was cool as he faced the computer screen. His impeccably tailored suit accentuated his tall, distinguished, and exceptionally handsome figure.

Now, he only went to the company every two or three days, handling most of his work in his study.

After the video conference ended, he habitually looked towards the sofa.

There, a small figure was curled up, sleeping soundly.

Her breaths were even and deep, a few strands of hair casually falling onto her forehead and cheeks, accentuating her delicate and exquisite facial features.

Asleep, she resembled a docile little kitten, evoking a desire to cherish her, to pull her into one’s arms and playfully ravage her.

Ling Yuchen turned off the computer. Everywhere he looked, she was there, and in an instant, all his fatigue vanished.

He walked over and gently tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. His heart melted completely as he tenderly traced the contours of her delicate features, etching her image into his heart.

Xia Wantang was clearly exhausted. She instinctively swatted away the hand that was bothering her, frowned slightly, and continued to sleep soundly.

Ling Yuchen couldn’t bear to disturb her sweet dream. He gently picked her up and carried her towards the room.

The person in his arms was soft, warm, and a tiny bundle.

As soon as he placed her on the bed, Xia Wantang opened her eyes, greeted by a handsome face as gentle as flowing water.

She groggily wrapped her arms around his neck and mumbled, "Are you done? I’m so sleepy."

Ling Yuchen’s breath hitched, his eyes deepening. He couldn’t resist lowering his head to kiss her red lips.

But the person in his arms had already fallen back into a deep sleep.

He smiled helplessly, carefully holding her close, and peacefully closed his eyes.

Just as he drifted into sleep, several message notification sounds came from Xia Wantang’s phone.

Ling Yuchen was a light sleeper. Fortunately, the person in his arms was not disturbed.

He reached for the phone, the harsh light making his eyes squint.

After unlocking it and dimming the screen, he dared to see who had sent the messages.

Xia Wantang didn't have many contacts, but two had been added recently.

One was Li Bowen, and the other was Situ Jun. However, neither of them had any chat history with Xia Wantang at the moment.

The message that arrived now was from Wen Xuanyuan.

Their contact had significantly decreased over the past half month, as Wen Xuanyuan and Li Bowen were deeply engrossed in their relationship.

He glanced at the message and then pressed the screen off.

This Li Bowen is a bit slow; only kissed after half a month!

Setting the volume to silent, he then drifted back into a deep sleep.

The night was enchanting, a hazy silver-white moonlight bathing the earth. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves.

It also lifted her skirt, revealing her graceful figure.

Under the streetlights, two shadows, one tall and one short, walked hand in hand. Both of them had radiant smiles on their faces.

Time always flew by when happy. In a blink, they reached the entrance of the residential complex.

Wen Xuanyuan said reluctantly, "I'm here."

Li Bowen tightened his grip on the small hand in his palm and gently reached out to tuck her windblown hair behind her ear.

"Baby, you're going to school tomorrow. Will we have less time to see each other?"

Dating was truly addictive. Li Bowen now understood what it meant to feel like an eternity passed in a single day of separation.

"I'll persuade my family to let me stay in the dormitory at school. That way, I can sneak out to see you at night."

Wen Xuanyuan lowered her head shyly, her heart filled with sweetness as if she had eaten honey.

"You don't have to do that. You should still stay at home. From now on, I'll pick you up and drop you off at school every day."

The Wen family had a dedicated driver for their commutes, ensuring safety. He was worried that Wen Xuanyuan would be unaccustomed to suddenly living in a dormitory.

He was just that considerate. Wen Xuanyuan couldn't help but look up at him, her bright eyes full of love.

This was her first love.

So this was what it felt like to date, so sweet.

After being with Li Bowen, her entire world seemed to be filled only with him.

Today, they had kissed for the first time.

Li Bowen's heart fluttered again. He couldn't help but cup the back of her head and kiss her red lips.

They were reluctant to part, their affection deep.

Li Bowen was incredibly gentle, holding her with an ingrained tenderness.

Wen Xuanyuan was captivated by his kiss, captivated by him.

After a long while, he finally released her, his voice deeply magnetic and restrained.

"Go home quickly. It's getting late."

Wen Xuanyuan impulsively threw herself into his arms.

"No, school starts tomorrow. Can't I just not go home today?"

No matter how clear-headed or intelligent a woman was, she would lose her reason in love.

Li Bowen felt his blood boiling, almost unable to resist agreeing.

But reason prevailed. He shook his head, "No, be good, my dear. When you graduate from college, I'll propose to your family, alright?"

Wen Xuanyuan felt a little disappointed, and a little embarrassed and annoyed.

She felt like she had lost her head.

She bit her lower lip. The slight pain brought her some clarity.

She roared inwardly: Damn it, I'm head over heels in love.

"I... I'm leaving."

She didn't dare to stay any longer, feeling too ashamed to face him.

Li Bowen watched her enter the complex before turning to leave.

Wen Xuanyuan was still young, strictly raised, and deeply cherished.

If he were to rashly have any physical intimacy with the young girl, the Wen family parents would likely not let it go.

After all, Wen Xin had married under duress of pregnancy.

Doing so would only decrease the future in-laws' favorable impression, making it difficult to marry his bride.

Moreover, the child was still young and impulsive. He, being older, needed to be more sensible.

However, he was a normal man, it was impossible for him to have no reaction. He had to find a way to vent.

So he took out his phone and called Situ Jun, wanting to invite him out for a drink.

He couldn't call anyone who had a girlfriend, so it could only be him.

Situ Jun readily agreed.

These three guys were all caught up in their romances, leaving him, a single dog, all alone.

When he arrived at their agreed meeting spot, he discovered that Situ Jing was also there.

She had lost weight during this period. Her demeanor was no longer as confident and spirited as before, and her complexion was poor.

Li Bowen sighed and advised, "Why are you doing this? You're hurting yourself and making Yuchen troubled."

Situ Jing gave a bitter smile, "Will he be troubled? He doesn't have me in his eyes at all. Maybe only when I'm dead will he frown a little!"

Li Bowen was rendered speechless. With that one sentence, he could tell that Situ Jing had not let go.

"I heard you found a girlfriend too. That's great!" Situ Jing suddenly seemed to forget her sadness, flashing a brilliant smile.

Li Bowen frowned slightly, a chill creeping into his heart.

He had a feeling she was mentally unstable.
