Qin He remained silent, smiling in a way that made Fang Ruonan uneasy.
"Qin He, what are you smiling about? The ingredients are gone, are you driven mad with anger?"
Di Shishi stood beside Qin He, her almond-shaped eyes glinting with icy coldness. "Fang Ruonan, are you tired of living?"
Qin He pulled Di Shishi back, sighing softly. "Forget it, it wasn't much."
Fang Ruonan glanced at Qin He, a hint of smugness in her tone. "Miss Qin, you haven't had breakfast yet, have you? Why don't you go see if there's any leftover porridge in the pot?"
Fang Ruonan spoke in a low voice, and the distance from the parasols outside the villa meant no one could overhear their conversation.
Qin He, holding back the furious Di Shishi, led her back to the villa.
She found the last remaining vegetables from the refrigerator, simmered the fish head into some soup, and combined it with the leftover millet porridge to make a bowl of fish porridge.
Di Shishi's face was cold and stern. "I hate people who play mind games the most. Qin He, you shouldn't have stopped me just now!"
Qin He smiled. "But she's not wrong. We've already eaten everything together. If we pursue this now, it will make everyone uncomfortable and make us the target of public criticism. It's better to let it go."
Di Shishi gritted her teeth. "The Fang family dares to jump around in front of me? Just you wait!"
Hearing Di Shishi's words, Qin He looked at her with some surprise.
She now knew Mo and the gangster's identities, but Di Shishi had never spoken about her family affairs.
Qin He didn't ask further.
"The program hasn't broadcast anything today, so I assume there's nothing urgent. We'll do some tasks after we finish our porridge," Qin He said.
Di Shishi's anger subsided by half at this point.
"Doing tasks is fine, they're all quite simple. But have you thought about what will happen tomorrow if Fang Ruonan pulls this stunt again after we buy our ingredients?"
Qin He chuckled. "Tomorrow, I'll change my approach."
"Change to what approach? If we go and do tasks today and redeem ingredients, but don't put them in the refrigerator, Fang Ruonan might say something again."
Di Shishi frowned, looking dejected.
After they finished eating, Qin He and Di Shishi, not having received a broadcast from the program team, headed to the director's task area.
Upon arriving, Qin He directly requested the fishing task.
The staff member, the same one from yesterday, greeted Qin He with a polite smile.
"Miss Qin, the fishing task is already full. You can choose another one."
"Full?" Di Shishi frowned and glanced at Qin He.
Qin He nodded. "Alright, let's look at the task list and make a decision."
She understood that yesterday, she and Di Shishi had "easily" earned 1,400 gold coins, so everyone must have considered the fishing task very simple and thus chosen it.
Qin He glanced at the small blackboard nearby. Due to the excessive number of people taking on the fishing task, the fish prices had already dropped.
It truly wasn't worthwhile to do it now.
The remaining tasks included helping nearby fishermen with their nets and collecting seashells.
Di Shishi leaned closer to Qin He. "If it's collecting seashells or fishing nets, I'm not good at those."
Qin He smiled. "It's alright, there are other options."
Her gaze fell upon two other tasks, which were clearly the most suitable for her and Di Shishi.
Qin He quickly made her selection.
"I'll choose to help the program team organize the warehouse. Shishi, I suggest you choose transporting supplies." Qin He looked at Di Shishi. "Do you think this is okay?"
Di Shishi shrugged. "I have no objections."
Let alone transporting supplies, she had even undertaken similar tasks involving transporting armed equipment before.
Moreover, neither of the two tasks they chose had a fixed reward; their rewards were based on the completion level of the task.
The highest completion level was five stars, earning a generous 1,000 gold coins.
After they selected their tasks, Qin He took Di Shishi to a small supermarket to pick out some snacks for the road.
The two of them had only earned 1,400 gold coins in total yesterday. After buying some items, they had only 400 left. Now, after buying the small snacks, Qin He was left with only 200 gold coins. She reminded Di Shishi earnestly, "You must strive to maximize your completion level."
"I know, don't you trust me to handle things?" Di Shishi held a bag of snacks, smiling brightly and charmingly.
The vehicle for transporting supplies arrived quickly. It was a green truck covered with a heavy oilcloth. Qin He let out a small huff, regretting having chosen such a strenuous task for Di Shishi.
But soon, the goods were being unloaded from the truck and placed by the warehouse entrance.
The staff member smiled at Qin He. "Miss Qin, your task is to organize these items. It shouldn't be too difficult for you, right?"
Qin He looked at the pile of items stacked before her and choked out, "Do I have to move everything piece by piece?"
"No need. We'll have dedicated personnel for that. They'll transport the items onto trolleys, and your task is to categorize them."
Some of the items brought were perfumery equipment, and others were spices. Due to the differences in perfumery techniques across various countries, categorizing them was already a troublesome task, requiring not only physical strength but also knowledge of spices.
Qin He nodded and began her day's work.
She carried spices in and out, one by one. The warehouse was already quite large, and she had to find the corresponding categories. After working for two hours, Qin He frowned, feeling that she couldn't continue searching like this.
Inside the director's live broadcast room.
Gu Qichen sat in a chair, watching Qin He on the screen, her face flushed with sweat and a look of distress on her fair complexion.
The director sat beside Gu Qichen, feeling a bit uneasy.
"They are all here to compete, what is the meaning of these tasks you've set?" Gu Qichen's voice was cold, and he tapped the armrest of the sofa with his index finger, turning to look at the director.
The director was startled and quickly chuckled nervously. "Mr. Gu, this is a live broadcast for the entire network, and we do need some program effect."
Moreover, several video platforms had invested in the program group, so they couldn't just let everyone watch an ordinary competition.
Gu Qichen remained silent, his gaze fixed on the screen. Because the warehouse was large, there were only a few fixed cameras, and it was not the time to select spices, so there were no hidden cameras filming inside the warehouse.
After a few turns, Qin He moved into a blind spot of the surveillance cameras and disappeared from view.
Gu Qichen pondered for a moment, then stood up and walked out of the room.
After he left, the director let out a long sigh of relief.
"Director Li, where is Mr. Gu going?"
The director looked at the busy Qin He emerging from behind the shelves on the screen and sighed.
"A hero is easily disarmed by a beautiful woman. Where do you think he's going?"
After circling a few times, Qin He finally decided to first memorize all the shelves.
She took a pen and paper, preparing to sketch a small map. With a map, she could then direct the porters to sort the items by category.
After that, she could push entire trolleys of items inside.
