Qin He, usually calm, now spoke with a hint of tears in her voice.
"Yes, Yi Lin was injured while blocking an arrow for me. His entire right chest was penetrated. We don't know if he'll survive and he's currently in surgery!"
"I'll call Shen Yicong right away to go to the hospital. You wait there, and I'll be there immediately."
Doctors went in and out, blood bags were taken in one after another, and Qin He's hands were clenched tightly.
After waiting for a long time and Shen Yilin was still not out of the emergency room, Qin He gritted her teeth, wishing she could rush into the operating room herself!
Time felt incredibly slow, as if every moment was a year. Qin He's eyes were fixed on the operating room door.
Soon, a nurse came out of the operating room.
"Is there any family here? Where are the patient's family members?"
Qin He hurried forward. "The family hasn't arrived yet. I'm his friend. Is there anything I can do now?"
The nurse frowned.
"The surgery is risky. We need family consent to sign."
Qin He's heart leaped. "What's his condition now?"
"Not good!"
The nurse, anxious to return to the operating room, said, "I need to inform the doctor inside. Please urge the family to come quickly. Have them come and sign when they arrive."
Qin He nodded.
After another ten minutes, Qin Yun rushed in with Shen Yicong from the end of the corridor!
Shen Yicong looked extremely anxious.
"Miss Qin, how is my brother?"
Qin He looked at Shen Yicong, her lips trembling slightly.
"His condition is very bad right now. The nurse was just looking for family to sign. Could you sign it for him first?"
Shen Yicong didn't hesitate and immediately went to sign.
Qin Yun looked worried. "He'er, are you injured?"
Qin He turned her head to look at the operating room door, her voice choked with emotion. "I'm not injured, but Yi Lin, he—"
What if Shen Yilin didn't make it? She would rather have been injured herself!
"Don't worry, Yi Lin will be fine," Qin Yun said softly, comforting Qin He.
The Qin family all knew Shen Yilin, as he had helped Qin He set up her equipment when she was live-streaming.
Shen Yicong rushed over after signing and stood by the operating room door, waiting anxiously.
"Miss Qin, can you tell me what happened? When I went to sign, the nurse told me my brother had a penetrating chest wound and was shot with a crossbow bolt."
Qin He gritted her teeth. "I'm sorry, Mr. Shen. Yi Lin was shot with the crossbow because he was saving me."
Shen Yicong spoke softly, "Miss Qin, I'm not blaming you. I just want to know what happened."
In front of the operating room, Qin He recounted the day's events to Shen Yicong, bit by bit.
By the end, Qin He was filled with guilt.
"I'm so sorry. I should have let Yi Lin leave back then."
Shen Yicong stood there for a long time after hearing her story, then sighed.
"I won't blame you, Miss Qin. Since Yi Lin saved you, I won't go against his wishes by blaming the person he wanted to protect. He just did what he felt was worth doing."
Shen Yicong looked up at the operating room door. "I only hope Yi Lin will be alright."
Qin He quietly dug her fingernails into her palm. She had always treated Shen Yilin like her own younger brother!
Staring at the operating room door, Qin He grew anxious.
Normally, the surgery should be over by now!
This was not her hospital, and Qin He didn't know the dean here, so she couldn't personally go in to observe Shen Yilin's surgery.
When the nurse emerged again, her face was etched with worry.
Qin He hurried forward. "Nurse, how is the patient?"
The nurse shook her head again, her expression grave. "The situation is not good."
Qin He gritted her teeth and took a step towards the operating room.
Seeing this, the nurse quickly stopped her. "Miss, please calm down. Your actions could affect the patient's treatment."
Qin He took a deep breath and immediately took out her phone.
She called Shen Bin directly.
"Dean Shen, this is Qin He."
Shen Bin's voice was cheerful on the other end. "Miss Qin, what can I do for you?"
Qin He quickly explained Shen Yilin's current condition. "I need you to contact the dean of the Third Hospital and let me into the operating room to personally oversee Shen Yilin's surgery!"
Shen Bin's voice immediately became serious after hearing this. "Alright, please wait a moment. I'll make a call right away."
Less than five minutes later, the operating room door opened again, and the nurse emerged, looking at the people in front of the door with a peculiar gaze.
"Who is Qin He?"
Qin He immediately stepped forward. "It's me."
"Then come with me."
The nurse led Qin He into the operating room.
Inside, Shen Yilin was lying on the operating table. Qin He quickly approached the chief surgeon, Dr. Wang.
She watched carefully. The chief surgeon's skill was good, but... Yi Lin's injury was too severe.
Qin He gritted her teeth.
Soon, the doctor encountered a problem.
The crossbow bolt in Shen Yilin was lodged right next to a major blood vessel!
The slightest mistake could mean no chance of rescue.
The chief surgeon looked somewhat stumped.
"This is too dangerous. We have to move it out bit by bit, very carefully!"
Qin He gritted her teeth. "There's no time to move it bit by bit. He's losing blood continuously!"
"I know."
The chief surgeon frowned. "Aren't I transfusing blood? But without moving it, there's no other way!"
The nurse nudged the chief surgeon's arm.
"Dr. Wang, this lady was personally invited by the dean. I heard she's a surgeon from the First Hospital."
Shen Bin had not revealed Qin He's true identity to the dean of the Third Hospital. The chief surgeon, Dr. Wang, stared at Qin He with a frown.
"If you were to remove the arrow, what's your confidence level?"
Qin He gritted her teeth, looking at the blood steadily seeping from Shen Yilin.
"Seventy percent!"
Dr. Wang, the chief surgeon, was taken aback. If he were to pull the arrow out directly, his success rate would only be thirty percent.
However, he didn't say much more and put down his surgical knife.
"You do it. I don't have that much confidence!"
Qin He nodded and put on gloves. She looked at Dr. Wang gratefully.
After all, Dr. Wang was the chief surgeon for this operation, and any issues would generally be his responsibility.
Qin He lowered her head and began the delicate procedure of removing the arrow from Shen Yilin, bit by bit.
Her hands were steady as a machine, and even a clever machine couldn't match her dexterity.
Dr. Wang and the intern doctors watching were all amazed.
Qin He ignored their gazes.
Three minutes later, when she finally pulled out the steel bolt, she finally let out a breath.
This was the most difficult hurdle, and it was finally overcome!
Qin He felt a wave of weakness wash over her. "What are the patient's vital signs?!"
The nurse monitoring the life support equipment urgently asked.
"All normal!"
Qin He breathed a sigh of relief. The remaining task of suturing was handed over to Dr. Wang.
After suturing the wound, Dr. Wang looked up at Qin He in admiration.
"Your surgical technique is extraordinary. Who was your teacher?"
Qin He glanced at Dr. Wang, her voice hoarse. "Shen Bin."
"So it's Dean Shen! Truly, a great master produces a brilliant student!"
Qin He didn't have the mood to chat with Dr. Wang for long.
Once Shen Yilin's wound was treated, she immediately followed the surgical bed out of the operating room.
Outside the operating room, Shen Yicong and Qin Yun had been waiting for a long time. Seeing Qin He emerge, they immediately stepped forward.
Qin He nodded at the two of them. "Yi Lin is out of danger."
Shen Yicong's tense expression eased. Then, he looked at Qin He with complex emotions. He had heard from his brother, Shen Yilin, that Qin He had previously invited the internationally renowned Dr. Harlana for his surgery.
So this time, what about Yi Lin's?
Why could Qin He directly enter the operating room?
He hadn't heard before that she knew how to perform surgery.
Shen Yicong's gaze became complicated, but upon seeing his brother on the gurney, he immediately pushed his doubts aside.
