Qin He entered the operating room. The anesthesiologist was already waiting.
The anesthesiologist for this surgery was specifically hired by Qin He, a top international expert.
She had prepared everything to perfection, even going to bed early the previous night to ensure she was in peak mental condition!
The surgery began, and the operating lights flickered on.
Qin Yun's face was slightly pale, and Qin He stayed by his side.
"Brother, don't worry, the surgery will be a success!"
As the anesthesia gradually took effect, Qin Yun gave Qin He a final smile.
"Don't be scared."
Watching Qin Yun drift into unconsciousness, Qin He's tears finally fell.
It was her brother undergoing surgery, yet he was telling her not to be scared.
She took a deep breath and asked the nurse beside her to wipe her tears.
As a doctor, she had to remain calm at all times, especially now, on the operating table.
Calmness was crucial to the success of her brother's surgery!
Qin He quickly adjusted her state. Shen Bin was the chief surgeon and made the first incision in the lower abdomen.
Qin He observed the surgical path from the side, not missing a single detail.
The medication was administered and infused into Qin Yun's body.
Time ticked by, and Qin He remained completely focused on the surgery, only the fine sweat on her forehead appearing intermittently, only to be wiped away by the nurse.
By the time of the final stitch, Qin He felt as though her soul had been drained.
She turned to look at Shen Bin, who was in a similar state, looking as if he might collapse.
"How long has it been?" Qin He asked the nurse, finding her voice hoarse.
The nurse's eyes held admiration. "Nine hours have passed."
Nine hours of intense concentration, of being on edge.
Qin He turned to Shen Bin. "Director Shen, thank you for your hard work."
She didn't need Shen Bin to speak; she knew the surgery was a success. The next step would be to monitor his subsequent recovery, and after recovery, further tests would be done to see if the medication was effective.
Qin He worried that Xu Wanwan was waiting anxiously outside. For her, with her attention fully absorbed, nine hours had felt like mere moments, but for Xu Wanwan, it must have felt like an eternity.
Supported by the nurse, Qin He opened the operating room door. Xu Wanwan immediately rushed in, her eyes red and voice trembling. "He'er, how is your brother?"
Qin He gave a slight smile. "Don't worry, the surgery was a success."
Xu Wanwan stood frozen for a few seconds, clutching her chest, her vision blurring, and she almost fainted.
Qin He quickly reached out to support her, a wry smile on her face. "Don't you dare faint now, I don't have the energy to take care of you. Besides, you need to be here for my brother. You have to hold on."
Xu Wanwan hastily straightened herself, her steps unsteady. "I want to see him."
Qin Yun's anesthesia had not yet worn off. The nurses pushed his hospital bed into the ward.
Qin He was worried about her brother and didn't go to rest elsewhere. She directly asked the nurses to add another bed in the ward and lay down to rest.
Xu Wanwan sat by his side, her gaze fixed on the monitoring equipment.
Every change in the numbers made her heart leap.
Qin He felt drained the moment she hit the bed. She lay on her side, looking at Xu Wanwan, answering her questions intermittently.
"Don't worry, this number is normal."
Qin He calculated the time for Qin Yun to wake up from the anesthesia. Once it arrived, she called out to Xu Wanwan. "Wanwan, wake my brother up now. After he wakes up, don't let him fall asleep again. Keep him awake, and let him sleep tonight."
It took Xu Wanwan quite a while to wake Qin Yun from the anesthesia.
Seeing Qin Yun awake, Qin He finally felt relieved. Once he woke from the anesthesia, there would be no life-threatening danger.
She had held on until now, her mental strength completely depleted.
"Brother," Qin He called out. "I'm going to sleep for a bit."
As soon as she finished speaking, Qin He fell asleep. She had been holding on, in a semi-conscious state.
Now that she felt at ease, she finally slept soundly.
With the two beds close together, Qin Yun laboriously turned his head to look at his sister sleeping in the next bed. A warm smile spread across his lips.
"He'er is exhausted."
Xu Wanwan's eyes welled up with tears, and she looked at Qin He with a hint of guilt.
Before Qin Yun had woken up, she had been too preoccupied with worry to notice how tired Qin He was.
For nine hours, she had been anxious, but Qin He had been on the "battlefield."
The ward was quiet.
As the anesthesia wore off, Qin Yun winced in pain, but he still managed to endure it without making a sound.
"Should I call the doctor to give you a painkiller?"
"Forget it, painkillers only alleviate pain," Qin Yun said in a low voice, heavy breaths escaping through his gritted teeth. "Don't call anyone over. You might wake He'er."
Qin He slept from eight in the evening until four in the morning.
When she woke up, she saw that Qin Yun in the next bed was already asleep, and Xu Wanwan was slumped by the bedside, her eyes wide open, forcing herself to monitor the readings on the equipment.
Qin He remained silent, recalling the young lady who would cry out over the slightest discomfort...
Yet now, she sat there, completely focused on the instruments, occasionally pinching herself to stay awake and continue watching the numbers.
Qin He's lips curved upwards. This was perhaps the most beautiful love she had ever witnessed.
After a while, she quietly got out of bed.
Xu Wanwan heard the movement on this side and turned to see Qin He getting up. She immediately walked over and said in a hushed voice.
"I've asked someone to prepare food outside. Wait here, I'll have them bring it in. You haven't eaten anything all day."
Qin He was also hungry after a day of exhaustion and a long sleep. Her stomach was empty.
In the ward, Qin He sat at a small table in the corner, eating. Xu Wanwan continued to watch the numbers.
After finishing her meal, Qin He regained some of her energy.
She walked over and persuaded her. "You should go and sleep too. I'll watch over him."
"No, I'm not sleepy," Xu Wanwan said, her eyes red from lack of sleep. "You go sleep. You were too tired during the day."
Qin He was a little helpless. "Wanwan, human energy is limited. It won't change just because you force yourself. If you stay up all night and get through to morning, you'll fall asleep when my brother wakes up during the day, and you two won't get to see each other."
It took Qin He considerable effort to persuade Xu Wanwan to go and sleep.
The sky outside was already showing the first signs of dawn. She sat by the hospital bed, watching the numbers on the monitor. All the numbers were normal.
Qin He leaned in her chair, gazing at Qin Yun on the bed.
Her heart was filled with warmth and happiness. All her previous efforts had not been in vain. Her family's happiness was her greatest wish.
By daytime, Qin Yun had woken up, and Xu Wanwan had not slept soundly.
Two of the three were tired and sat chatting for a while.
Qin He confirmed that Qin Yun was out of danger and only required post-operative observation before standing up.
"Brother, I have to go home. I told Mom yesterday that I'd take you to the airport. I've been with you for a day and a night, and I'm afraid I won't be able to explain it when I get back."
"When you get home, just say you stayed at my place last night. I'll cover for you," Xu Wanwan said.
Qin He nodded.
Qin Yun, lying in bed and unable to move, said with concern, "Drive carefully on your way back."
"I know," Qin He replied with a smile.
