The Third Hospital was not far from the psychiatric hospital, only about twenty minutes away.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Chen Fan directly asked the nurse for the location of the surgical clinic and then headed towards it.
"Doctor, what exactly is wrong with my child? He was fine a while ago, but these past few days he's suddenly complaining of joint pain. At first, I thought he was making up excuses to avoid school, but these days he not only has leg pain but also feels weak all over, and even has a slight fever."
In a surgical clinic, a woman was describing her child's condition to a doctor, accompanied by a boy of about ten years old.
A male doctor in a white coat briefly examined the child.
He then wrote out a prescription: "Take the child for a full body CT scan, a stool and urine test, and an electrocardiogram. Bring the results back to me after they are done."
"Doctor, you haven't even examined him properly, and you're already ordering so many tests?" The woman looked somewhat taken aback by the list of tests the doctor had prescribed.
The male doctor appeared displeased: "If you don't do the tests, how can I determine what illness he has?"
The woman had no choice but to nod and prepare to take her child for the tests.
"Wait a moment." Just then, a voice suddenly sounded from the doorway.
This figure was Chen Fan.
The sudden voice caused everyone in the clinic to turn their attention to the doorway.
Chen Fan walked into the clinic, went straight to the young boy, then crouched down, observing the boy's condition with a somber expression.
"Sir, who are you?" The woman seemed confused and shielded the boy behind her.
Chen Fan knew the woman had misunderstood and quickly stated his identity: "I am a doctor."
"A doctor?" The woman was even more perplexed.
Hearing that Chen Fan was a doctor, the male doctor's expression turned hostile as he questioned, "Which department are you from? Who allowed you in?! How come I don't know we have a doctor like you in our surgery department?"
Chen Fan looked at the male doctor and said, "Your hospital sent a request for assistance, asking me to come for surgery."
The male doctor looked Chen Fan up and down, and a mocking expression spread across his face: "What did you say? You're saying our hospital's surgery department sent you an assistance request?"
Chen Fan nodded calmly.
The male doctor almost burst out laughing: "Someone as green as you? Our hospital would send *you* an assistance request? I think you're still dreaming, aren't you?"
The male doctor spoke without any politeness. After all, Chen Fan's face was youthful, looking like a recent college graduate. He couldn't possibly believe that their hospital would send an assistance request to this kid.
Chen Fan ignored the male doctor and turned to the woman, asking, "How long has your child been in this condition?"
The woman looked Chen Fan up and down, but seeing that he didn't seem malicious, she replied, "About a month."
Chen Fan frowned slightly: "This long, and you haven't had the child checked?"
As he spoke, Chen Fan crouched down again, looked at the little boy hidden behind the woman, and asked, "Uncle has a candy here, can uncle take a look at your arm?"
The little boy emerged from behind his mother, reached out, and took the candy Chen Fan offered.
Before the woman could stop him, Chen Fan had already pulled up the boy's sleeve.
Upon seeing the condition of the boy's arm, Chen Fan's expression immediately darkened.
"Kid, what are you doing! Get out, or I'll call security!" At this moment, the male doctor also stood up, his face full of anger as he yelled at Chen Fan.
However, as soon as the male doctor saw the condition of the boy's arm, he froze on the spot.
Because the boy's arm was covered in red spots, looking quite terrifying.
Chen Fan then lifted the boy's shirt and discovered that his entire chest and back were in the same condition.
"What, what is this?" The male doctor looked utterly bewildered and asked the child's mother.
The woman replied, "Maybe she's allergic to some clothing. I've had doctors look at it, they prescribed a lot of medicine, and I've been applying it daily."
"This is lupus erythematosus," Chen Fan stated directly.
"What did you say? This is lupus erythematosus?" The male doctor's expression faltered.
But then he retorted, "Hmph, kid, don't spread fear here. How could this be lupus erythematosus? Didn't you hear the lady say it's an allergy, and she's already seen a doctor?"
"Don't think I don't know what lupus erythematosus is. This illness also causes red spots on the face, and this child has no red spots on his face. Don't think you can spout nonsense just because you know a few disease names. Get out of here!"
Chen Fan still ignored the male doctor and turned to the woman, asking, "If I'm not mistaken, you apply a steroid cream to the child's face every day."
"I do apply face cream to the child daily, but I don't know if it contains steroids," the woman replied blankly.
She didn't even know what lupus erythematosus was.
Chen Fan explained, "The reason there are no red spots on the child's face is precisely because of the prolonged use of this face cream."
"Then if I apply it to his body too, these red spots will disappear?" the woman asked, confused.
Chen Fan shook his head: "Lupus erythematosus is an incurable disease; it can only be managed conservatively."
"What? An incurable disease?!" The woman was startled by Chen Fan's words.
"That's right. If you don't believe me, you can ask him," Chen Fan said, pointing at the male doctor.
The woman hurriedly turned to the male doctor and asked, "Doctor, this person says my child has an incurable disease, is that true?!"
The male doctor immediately retorted, "How is that possible? You actually believe some young punk? I'm even doubting if he's a doctor. He looks more like someone here to cause trouble!"
Hearing this, the woman's heart relaxed. However, her gaze towards Chen Fan was tinged with hostility as she pointed at him and scolded, "I have no quarrel with you, why are you cursing my son!"
Seeing the woman's anger, the male doctor's face showed a hint of amusement: "Don't worry, I've already called security. They'll be here soon to escort him out of the hospital."
He then turned to the woman and instructed, "Hurry up and take your child for the tests, otherwise I'm afraid it will delay his condition."
"Okay, Doctor, thank you, thank you!" The woman quickly expressed her gratitude and prepared to leave with her child.
"What's going on here?" However, at this moment, a middle-aged man's voice suddenly sounded from outside the door.
A middle-aged man walked in with a stern expression.
"Director Wang!" Seeing the newcomer, the male doctor quickly and politely greeted him.
The person who arrived was Wang Yudong, the deputy director of surgery. He had been in the corridor just to see if Director Chen from the psychiatric hospital had arrived.
He hadn't expected to hear arguing from the clinic, so he came over to see what was happening.
"What happened?" Wang Yudong asked again.
The male doctor quickly explained the whole story with some embellishments, then pointed at Chen Fan.
"Director Wang, I didn't expect to see you again so soon. Judging by your complexion, you've been in good health lately."
However, at this moment, Chen Fan's voice suddenly rang out.
