Chapter 543 Sun Xiao's Thoughts

"What big background?" Chen Fan asked.

"Brother, how would I know? I'm just a small-time scavenger." Zhang Fan replied nervously.

"He collected so many cultural relics, where did he sell them?"

Zhang Fan shook his head again.

Liang Chao, standing beside them, glared at Zhang Fan.

Zhang Fan flinched in fear and quickly explained, "Brother, I really don't know."

Seeing that Zhang Fan didn't seem to be faking it, Chen Fan changed the subject. "Then do you know who else in the antique street dares to accept these cultural relics, besides this Feng Jilan?"

Zhang Fan pondered for a moment and replied, "Mr. Xue from Zhenbao Pavilion sometimes buys them too, but that's it. After all, without a background, getting caught is a serious crime!"

"Xue Changrong?"

"Yes, that's him!" Zhang Fan nodded.

Upon hearing this, Chen Fan immediately dismissed any connection between Xue Changrong and the illegal trade of cultural relics, as Xue Changrong would likely never appear in the antique market again.

"Tomorrow morning, take me to meet Mr. Feng Jilan," Chen Fan instructed.

"Ah?!" Zhang Fan was startled.

"What? You don't want to?" Chen Fan looked at Zhang Fan playfully.

Zhang Fan's face crumpled. "Brother, if Mr. Feng finds out, I might lose my life!"

"Do you think you have a chance to leave here alive if you refuse?" Chen Fan retorted.

Zhang Fan's heart was torn.

Da Xiong, who had been silent, spoke up. "Kid, in South China, if I say you'll be fine, you'll be fine. No matter how powerful that Mr. Feng is, in my hands, he's just an ant."

"Gulp." Zhang Fan swallowed hard, intimidated by Da Xiong's aura.

In the end, he nodded and agreed to Chen Fan's request.

To prevent them from leaking any information, Zhang Fan and the other man couldn't be let go. They were given two rooms and assigned guards.

Chen Fan, meanwhile, drove back home.

Upon opening the door, Chen Fan didn't see Qin Shuran or Sun Xiao.

This made him a bit puzzled; hadn't they returned earlier?

Just then, Chen Fan heard some movement from the bathroom, seemingly coming from inside.

Entering Qin Shuran's room, Chen Fan found that Sun Xiao wasn't there.

"Did Sister Sun go home?" Chen Fan thought, a hint of joy appearing on his face.

Ever since Sun Xiao moved in, he and Qin Shuran had no private time when they returned home.

Hearing the sound of water running in the bathroom, and catching a glimpse of a graceful figure through the frosted glass door, Chen Fan felt a surge of heat within him.

After all, he was a normal man; it would be abnormal if he didn't react.

Of course, peeking was out of the question. The person inside was his girlfriend, and they were even engaged. What was there to hide?

With that thought, Chen Fan walked forward and gently opened the glass door.

However, the moment the glass door swung open, Chen Fan froze.

The graceful figure showering in the bathroom, sensing the cold air blowing in from the doorway, also looked towards the entrance.

Instantly, their eyes met.

Chen Fan's eyes widened. The graceful figure in the bathroom wasn't Qin Shuran, but Sun Xiao!

Sun Xiao, whose face was already flushed from the steam, turned even redder.

"Are you planning to shower with me?"

Her words snapped Chen Fan out of his shock.

"Bang!"

Chen Fan hastily closed the door.

"Sister Sun, I-I'm sorry. I thought you had left. I, I thought it was Shuran in the bathroom," Chen Fan stammered, his face even redder than Sun Xiao's as he quickly explained.

There was no response from inside the bathroom.

Knowing it was inappropriate to stand by the bathroom door, Chen Fan quickly left Qin Shuran's room and sat on the sofa in the living room.

"Slap!"

Chen Fan slapped himself.

Even now, the image of that graceful figure was seared into his mind, as if imprinted there, refusing to fade.

"Why did it have to be Sister Sun? My brain!" Chen Fan lamented, feeling like a naughty elementary student, covering his face, feeling he couldn't face anyone.

Little did he know, Sun Xiao, standing in the bathroom, wore a happy smile.

A moment later, Sun Xiao emerged from the room, wearing a bathrobe and a face mask.

Chen Fan looked at her awkwardly. "Sister Sun, I'm so sorry. I, I really didn't know you were in the bathroom."

Sun Xiao looked at Chen Fan's blushing face and suppressed a laugh, sitting on the sofa. "You, Chen Fan, if Shuran knew about this, she'd definitely not let you off!"

"I..." Chen Fan was speechless. How could he explain? He couldn't clear his name even if he jumped into the Yellow River.

"Pfft." Sun Xiao couldn't help but laugh, her face mask askew.

"Just kidding. I won't tell Shuran."

"Thank you, Sister Sun," Chen Fan replied awkwardly.

"Shuran went to the hospital. She said the on-call psychiatrist's family had a sudden emergency, so she went to cover."

"So that's why," Chen Fan finally understood why only Sun Xiao was home.

"Does my sister have a good figure?" Sun Xiao suddenly asked.

Chen Fan was a little surprised by her question but nodded honestly.

"Between me and Shuran, who is more attractive?" Sun Xiao asked again, looking at Chen Fan teasingly.

Chen Fan fell silent. He hadn't actually seen Qin Shuran, so he didn't know himself.

"I understand. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. How could I possibly compare to Shuran in your eyes?" Sun Xiao assumed Chen Fan was unwilling to answer because he didn't want to offend her.

"Goodnight, get some rest early." With a generous smile, Sun Xiao then got up and walked towards Qin Shuran's room.

Although Sun Xiao appeared magnanimous, she felt a deep sense of disappointment inside.

Chen Fan returned to his room and took a cold shower to calm his mind before getting into bed to rest.

The next morning, when Chen Fan woke up, he found that Sun Xiao had already left. A breakfast had been specially prepared for him on the table.

After breakfast, Chen Fan drove to Jiangcheng Antique Market.

Zhang Fan, led by the two men, was waiting for Chen Fan at the street corner.

Liang Chao and Da Xiong hadn't come because their presence was too conspicuous. Almost everyone in the area recognized them, making it easy to expose their target.

"Did you bring the items?" Chen Fan asked as he approached the three of them.

Zhang Fan nodded nervously. "I brought them."

In Zhang Fan's arms was a wooden box containing the Shang and Zhou dynasty bronze ware prepared by Da Xiong.

"Don't be nervous. I'm your subordinate now. We dug up the tomb together last night, understand?" Chen Fan asked.

"U-understood!" Zhang Fan nodded hastily.
