"Alright, why are you all still standing here? Don't you have any patients to attend to?" Luo Yongtang, hearing the hushed whispers at the door, shouted at them.
A moment later, the doctors and nurses standing at the door quickly dispersed and returned to their respective posts.
Luo Yongtang then turned his gaze to Lian Wenxin and asked, "Director Lian, why is it that whenever something happens in the hospital, you're always the first one on the scene? Is all the work in your first clinic finished? Perhaps we should give you a holiday so you can go out and enjoy the excitement?"
Lian Wenxin's heart suddenly sank, and he explained, "Dean Luo, aren't I just afraid someone might tarnish our hospital's reputation?"
"I'll go back to work now, I'll go back to work now."
Lian Wenxin dared not stay in the surgical clinic any longer, and he hastily lowered his head and left.
"Dean Luo, I request a change of room. I don't wish to treat patients alongside such an unprofessional doctor." Seeing Lian Wenxin leave, Liu Qianze suggested to Luo Yongtang.
Luo Yongtang pondered for a moment and finally nodded, "Alright, I'll have the staff clean up the adjacent room. You can work in the next clinic shortly."
Liu Qianze asked again, "Dean Luo, is the position of head of surgery vacant?"
Luo Yongtang shook his head, "Not yet. There are only the two of you doctors in surgery."
Liu Qianze confidently stated, "Dean Luo, I believe my qualifications should be sufficient for this position."
After all, he was a doctoral graduate from the world's top medical university. In such a small mental hospital, even being a vice-dean wouldn't be excessive.
However, to Liu Qianze's surprise, Luo Yongtang rejected his proposal, "Dr. Liu, you've just arrived and are unfamiliar with many things. So, let's discuss it after you've settled in for a month."
As soon as he finished speaking, before Liu Qianze could say anything else, Luo Yongtang had already turned and left the surgical clinic.
Having been a dean for so many years, Luo Yongtang was well aware of Liu Qianze's intentions. If Liu Qianze were to become the head of surgery, the conflict between Chen Fan and him would likely escalate.
For now, he could only wait a month and make a decision based on the outcome of the bet between the two. If Chen Fan won, the position of head of surgery would undoubtedly go to Chen Fan. If Liu Qianze won, by then he would have become familiar with the environment, and no one would oppose him becoming the head of surgery.
However, Luo Yongtang was still somewhat troubled. The surgery department had finally started to show some progress, and now it seemed only one of them could stay.
"Hmph, Dr. Chen, when you lose, don't be like a child and refuse to admit it. That would make people look down on you." Liu Qianze glanced at Chen Fan, sneered, and then left the surgical clinic with his belongings.
Cui Jie looked at Chen Fan with some apology and said, "Dr. Chen, I'm sorry. I didn't expect to cause you so much trouble today."
Chen Fan smiled calmly, "It's fine. However, you won't be able to come to the hospital anymore. Give me an address, and I'll come to your home every day after work to treat Xiao Ling'er."
"How can that be? I'm already very grateful for your help. I can't possibly let you travel back and forth." Cui Jie quickly refused.
Chen Fan, however, said, "Xiao Ling'er's health has not fully recovered yet, and she shouldn't be too tired. So, it's better if I come."
Seeing Chen Fan's persistence, Cui Jie finally agreed, but on the condition that Chen Fan must take taxis back and forth, and the fares would be reimbursed by Cui Jie.
Chen Fan knew that if he didn't agree, Cui Jie wouldn't either, so he finally nodded in agreement.
After Cui Jie and Xiao Ling'er left, only Chen Fan and Qin Shuran remained in the clinic.
Looking at the time, it was almost noon, time for lunch.
Qin Shuran frowned slightly and looked at Chen Fan with some concern, asking, "Chen Fan, are you really confident you can cure Xiao Ling'er's leukemia?"
Chen Fan smiled and said, "What, you don't have faith in me either?"
"You're still joking around. I'm asking you, have you really treated anyone else with that ancestral secret remedy of yours?"
Chen Fan shook his head truthfully.
Qin Shuran looked at Chen Fan in astonishment, truly wondering where Chen Fan's confidence came from to make a bet with Liu Qianze!
She then said, "Don't worry, I won't let you lose your physician's certificate and your job."
She had already decided that if Chen Fan lost, she would compromise with her family and leave the hospital rather than let Chen Fan lose his current job because of her.
Qin Shuran naturally didn't know where Chen Fan's confidence came from, and Chen Fan didn't know that Qin Shuran had secretly resolved to protect him.
The two ate lunch in the cafeteria and returned to their respective clinics to work.
As for Liu Qianze, the staff had already cleaned up his clinic by noon. With his room changed, the entire hospital seemed much quieter.
In the afternoon, Liu Qianze, accompanied by two nurses, went to the inpatient department to examine patients.
Since many of these patients couldn't express their illnesses, they had to be examined by doctors or nurses.
However, to Liu Qianze's surprise, these patients didn't seem to have any surgical conditions.
Liu Qianze, with a displeased expression, entered a private room. He had originally wanted to showcase his superb medical skills, but to his surprise, there wasn't a single surgical patient here!
He had no idea that Chen Fan could tell what illness each patient had just by glancing at them during his daily ward rounds.
If he weren't afraid of causing panic, Chen Fan would even want to completely cure these mentally ill patients of their conditions.
Upon entering a private room, Liu Qianze finally saw a patient who had just undergone surgery.
Liu Qianze's face lit up as he walked towards the hospital bed.
The woman smiled politely at him when she saw someone enter the room. A burly man sitting beside her stood up and asked, "Who are you?"
The nurse quickly explained, "This is the new surgical specialist hired by our hospital!"
"Dr. Liu is a doctoral graduate from the world's top medical university and has just started working at our hospital."
Liu Qianze, standing beside them, showed a satisfied expression, especially at the word "specialist," which he felt was very fitting for his status. He couldn't help but glance at the young nurse a couple more times.
"Oh, so he must be very skilled." The burly man had no idea what the "world's top medical university" was. He looked at the woman on the hospital bed and asked.
"Naturally. Dr. Liu is very responsible and came to check on patients as soon as he arrived at the hospital," the nurse added.
The burly man thanked him, "Thank you, Dr. Liu."
He then asked, "But wasn't this ward always under Dr. Chen's care?"
"Dr. Chen? Heh heh, he's just a bachelor's graduate, an unprofessional doctor. In less than a month, he'll be leaving the hospital." Liu Qianze said with disdain, already convinced that Chen Fan was bound to lose.
However, he didn't realize that the burly man's expression had instantly turned grim the moment he finished speaking.
