Chapter 65 Poisoned

"Sister Cui, what are you talking about?! We are not a couple," Qin Shuran said, her face flushed with embarrassment.

Cui Jie smiled and said, "Your Sister Cui is an experienced woman. Do you think I can't tell? You're just a step away from being a couple. Do you dare to say you don't like Doctor Chen?"

Qin Shuran lowered her head, remaining silent.

Seeing Qin Shuran's reaction, Cui Jie continued, "Doctor Chen is a bit slow. So, sometimes you have to remind him more. Otherwise, if you miss each other in the end, you'll both regret it for the rest of your lives."

Hearing Cui Jie's words, Qin Shuran looked up at Chen Fan, who was diligently administering acupuncture in the room, and fell into deep thought.

After Chen Fan finished his acupuncture, Cui Jie wanted to invite them to stay for dinner. However, Chen Fan suddenly received a call from the hospital, stating that an incident had occurred and they needed to return immediately.

After hanging up the phone, Chen Fan and Qin Shuran went downstairs and got into Da Xiong's car to leave.

Da Xiong drove very fast. In about ten minutes, the vehicle had returned to the hospital.

Seeing Zhao Qianqian, who was waiting for them at the entrance, Chen Fan asked, "What's going on? What happened at the hospital?"

Zhao Qianqian looked extremely anxious. "I don't know either. This morning, all the patients started experiencing dizziness, stomach pain, and diarrhea."

"Doctor Liu has already gone to the wards. He suspects the patients have contracted a cross-infection disease and recommends that the hospital be sealed off and that infectious disease specialists be brought in."

Chen Fan's brow furrowed slightly. "Cross-infection disease?"

He was certain that this possibility was very small, almost impossible. After all, every infectious disease has an incubation period and an outbreak period. He couldn't have missed it during his regular ward checks.

Putting on his white coat, Chen Fan and Qin Shuran headed towards the inpatient building.

As soon as they entered the inpatient building, they could hear screams of agony everywhere.

At this moment, in a ward, after examining a patient, Liu Qianze looked at Luo Yongtang and said, "Dean, it's best to seal off the hospital as soon as possible. Although we don't know what virus they've contracted, at least this virus is highly contagious. If it can't be controlled, the consequences will be unimaginable."

Luo Yongtang looked at the patients tossing and turning on their beds and nodded. "Alright, seal off the hospital immediately and notify the infectious disease hospital to intervene."

"Wait a moment!" However, just as Luo Yongtang made his decision, a voice sounded from the doorway.

"Doctor Chen, where have you been? We couldn't find you earlier," Lian Wenxin questioned from the side as he saw Chen Fan appear.

Chen Fan replied, "I took a leave of absence this morning to handle some personal matters. Besides, I had already informed Dean Luo. What? Do we in the emergency department need to report our leaves to Director Lian?"

"You!" Lian Wenxin was instantly rendered speechless by Chen Fan's retort.

"Doctor Chen, please go and notify the security department to temporarily seal off the hospital until the infectious disease hospital arrives for an investigation," Luo Yongtang instructed Chen Fan.

Chen Fan, however, walked towards a patient. "Dean Luo, it's impossible for them to have an infectious disease."

Hearing Chen Fan's words, Liu Qianze's expression turned displeased. "Doctor Chen, this is not something to joke about. How can you be so sure they don't have an infectious disease without conducting a thorough examination?"

Chen Fan glanced at Liu Qianze. "Doctor Liu, if they had an infectious disease, even the medical staff wouldn't be spared. It's impossible for not a single doctor or nurse to be infected, and only the patients are sick, right?"

Luo Yongtang asked Director Lian, who was standing nearby, "Director Lian, are any doctors or nurses showing similar symptoms?"

Director Lian shook his head. "No."

Chen Fan pointed to a patient on the bed. "Therefore, this is not an infectious disease at all. Otherwise, if Doctor Liu had visited every ward last time, they would likely have developed these symptoms already."

Liu Qianze's face darkened. "If it's not an infectious disease, then tell us, what is wrong with them?"

Chen Fan took a deep breath and looked at the few patients present. Instantly, the condition within the patients appeared before Chen Fan's eyes.

He also took their pulses and examined them. However, after the examination, Chen Fan's brow furrowed, and his expression turned somewhat grim.

Seeing Chen Fan's expression, Liu Qianze sneered, "Doctor Chen, I told you long ago that traditional Chinese medicine is just the act of charlatans. Are you still trying to diagnose them with TCM? It's a joke!"

The other doctors and nurses standing around also did not have high hopes for Chen Fan.

After all, they felt that Doctor Liu was right. If traditional Chinese medicine were truly that effective, it would have become the mainstream in medicine long ago, not be so marginalized by Western medicine.

Just then, Chen Fan suddenly spoke, "I already know what disease they have."

What? They knew what disease they had?!

Everyone was shocked and looked at the calm Chen Fan with surprise.

"Doctor Chen, then tell us, what is the cause of their dizziness, abdominal pain, and diarrhea?" Liu Qianze asked with a sneer.

Chen Fan said, "They are suffering from poisoning."

"Poisoning?" Luo Yongtang looked at Chen Fan with a grave expression.

Chen Fan nodded. "It is poisoning. You can take their vomit for testing; there will definitely be toxic components. However, the dosage of the poison is not very high."

He then turned to Zhao Qianqian and instructed, "Qianqian, go and ask the kitchen to prepare some mung bean soup for them to drink. These toxins are not fatal, and drinking some mung bean soup can neutralize them."

Liu Qianze's face darkened. "This is utter nonsense."

"You can diagnose what disease they have just by taking their pulse? Doctor Chen, if these patients are delayed because of you, can you bear the responsibility?"

Chen Fan nodded confidently. "If my diagnosis is mistaken, I am willing to bear the responsibility."

Lian Wenxin also chimed in sarcastically, "Doctor Chen, do you think your life is worth more than these dozens of lives? Even though they are mental patients, they are still living beings. Playing with lives like this, I really don't know how you graduated from medical school."

"Enough!" Luo Yongtang reprimanded.

Silence immediately fell upon the scene.

Luo Yongtang instructed, "A few of you, go to the hospital cafeteria and tell them to boil some mung bean soup."

Hearing this, Liu Qianze frowned and quickly said, "Dean Luo, how can you believe his words?"

Luo Yongtang continued, "Doctor Liu, go and inform the infectious disease hospital and ask them to send people over for an examination. Mung bean soup is just a beverage; drinking some won't do any harm. You all go make the arrangements."

Liu Qianze glanced at Chen Fan. "Doctor Chen, when the doctors from the infectious disease hospital arrive and present the facts, I'll see what confidence you have left to claim it's poisoning."
