Chapter 76 Critical Patient

"Who are you?" a doctor in a white coat asked Chen Fan, frowning as he ran over.

Since Chen Fan wasn't wearing a white coat and it was his first day, the doctor didn't recognize him.

"I'm a surgeon. This patient is severely injured. Where are you taking him?" Chen Fan asked the doctor, looking at the dying patient.

The doctor didn't bother to ascertain if Chen Fan was a real doctor and explained, "Transferring him. This patient is too severely injured for our hospital to treat at the moment."

With that, he prepared to push the patient away. An ambulance was already waiting outside.

Chen Fan quickly stepped forward and blocked the stretcher.

"Do you know how serious this patient's condition is? If you delay any further, will you take responsibility if something happens? Move aside!" The doctor, seeing Chen Fan blocking the stretcher, couldn't help but scold him angrily.

"What's going on? Why hasn't the patient been moved yet?" At this moment, Zou Wei and two others emerged from the emergency room, their faces grim as they approached.

They knew that such critically ill patients were in danger of life at any moment.

If the patient later claimed that their treatment was delayed due to them, the hospital might have to bear compensation.

"Director Zou, some kid appeared out of nowhere and is blocking us from leaving," the doctor quickly replied.

Upon hearing this, Zou Wei and the other two directors walked over.

"Dr. Chen?" When Zou Wei saw Chen Fan, his brow furrowed, and a hint of anger appeared on his face.

"Director Zou, do you know this person?" the emergency doctor asked.

Zou Wei said, "He is the comprehensive surgery specialist who is seeing patients today, Dr. Chen Fan."

"What? He, he's that surgery specialist?"

Wu Chengbin, Lin Lei, and the emergency doctor were all startled, looking at Chen Fan with disbelief. None of them had expected the surgery specialist to be so young!

Wu Chengbin finally understood why Zou Wei had said that calling this specialist over was delaying the patient's treatment.

Such a young doctor had probably never even been on an operating table. What help could he offer to such a critically ill patient?

Thinking that he had just asked Chen Fan to treat the patient, Wu Chengbin looked at himself with self-mockery.

"Dr. Chen, if you know that you are delaying the patient's treatment like this, and if anything happens to him, you will be held responsible," Zou Wei said again.

Chen Fan glanced at the patient on the stretcher again. "Severe degloving injury, and it's already showing signs of infection. If he doesn't have surgery immediately, he will surely die."

Zou Wei replied, "Of course, we know that. That's why we are buying time for the patient to be transferred to a larger hospital for treatment."

Chen Fan said, "Is that so? Aren't you just shirking responsibility?"

"Dr. Chen, please watch your words. Shirking responsibility? We are doing this for the patient's well-being!"

"Is that so? In his current condition, he won't make it to another hospital. As a chief physician, don't you know this?" Chen Fan looked at Zou Wei playfully.

"We, we are doing this to be more insured, and the patient's family has also agreed to this," Zou Wei retorted.

Then Zou Wei added sarcastically, "Dr. Chen, you're blocking the patient from being transferred. Do you think you can save this patient?"

"Yes, I can save him."

This statement immediately drew cold laughter from Zou Wei and the others. Even the onlookers let out sighs of disbelief.

Such a young doctor trying to save such a critically ill patient was something no one would believe if they heard it!

"Who, who should I listen to?"

The patient's family, with tear-reddened eyes, looked around, frozen in place, not knowing what to do.

Chen Fan said, "If he leaves now, he will surely die. If he stays, there's still a glimmer of hope. The choice is yours."

"Doctor, is what he said true?" the patient's family asked the emergency doctor.

The emergency doctor remained silent. He actually knew that the patient would have great difficulty surviving the transfer to another hospital.

"Save him, we agree to save him!" Seeing this, the patient's family quickly nodded in agreement.

Chen Fan looked at Zhou Xuemeng. "Admit this patient under my name and notify the operating room to proceed with surgery immediately."

Zhou Xuemeng nodded hurriedly and ran towards the operating room.

Lin Lei saw that Chen Fan was going to perform surgery and wanted to step forward to stop him, but Zou Wei held him back.

A few minutes later, in the operating room, Chen Fan had changed into his surgical gown. The anesthesiologist and the assisting doctors and nurses were all ready.

In the office, Lin Lei, seeing that the surgery was about to begin, looked at Zou Wei with confusion and asked, "Director Zou, why didn't you let me stop Chen Fan just now?"

"Even we have no confidence in this surgery. Do you dare let him go in alone?"

Zou Wei smiled faintly and said, "Director Lin, you just said that even we have no confidence. Don't you understand?"

"Even if that patient is transferred, his chance of survival is zero. If we operate, his chance of survival is also zero. He says he can do it, so let him try. Even if the patient dies, he is an external hire, so it has nothing to do with us or the hospital."

"At most, Director Zhang will be investigated by the medical department. However, this imposter specialist will no longer be able to work here."

Wu Chengbin nodded, saying with dissatisfaction, "A specialist in his twenties. I really don't know what Director Zhang was thinking, letting such a young kid be a specialist!"

"We've been chief physicians for so many years, and even reached the position of department director, yet the hospital never gave us specialist clinics."

"What if that kid succeeds in the surgery?" Lin Lei asked, frowning slightly.

Zou Wei couldn't help but laugh a few times. "Old Lin, don't joke. That kid probably hasn't even been on an operating table before. If he can do this surgery, I'll kneel down and beg him to be my master!"

Wu Chengbin agreed, "Director Lin, you're overthinking it. Even the three of us combined have no confidence. That kid, even if he practiced surgery since he was in the womb, it's impossible for him to succeed!"

At this moment, Chen Fan had already changed into his surgical gown and entered the operating room.

"Dr. Chen, the patient is experiencing ventricular fibrillation after anesthesia! His blood pressure and heart rate have stopped!" Suddenly, the anesthesiologist said in a panic.

The atmosphere in the entire operating room instantly became tense.

Everyone knew that anesthesia was crucial to the entire surgery. If the patient's heart didn't beat on its own after anesthesia, the entire surgery would be considered a failure.

Chen Fan calmly walked to the operating table, took out a silver needle, and inserted it towards the patient's heart!

What is Dr. Chen doing?! Acupuncture on the patient?!

Everyone was stunned at this sight. The heartbeat had stopped, and without adrenaline or a defibrillator, he was going to use acupuncture? This was unheard of.
