Chapter 157 A New Discovery

Although the new recruits were sent from various top families, as long as they passed the new recruit training and became official members of the Dragon Group, they would become fresh blood for the Dragon Group! If others were to investigate, they might overlook something. Lin Weidong absolutely would not allow even the slightest threat to go unnoticed!

"Alright, since Elder Lin insists, then I'll have to risk my life to accompany you," Zhou Yu said helplessly.

Lin Weidong broke into a broad smile! He had only just entered the Houtian Ming Jin realm. If he were to explore the island alone, it would be extremely dangerous. However, with Zhou Yu by his side, it would be much safer. This was not only because of Zhou Yu's strength, which was at the Houtian An Jin realm, but also because of the people who secretly protected Zhou Yu!

Lin Weidong was not a fool. He could vaguely sense that someone was secretly protecting Zhou Yu! This was why Zhou Yu had never been in danger so far. Otherwise, Lin Weidong was certain that the person behind him would definitely show themselves!

The two boarded a helicopter and headed towards the island where the unknown creatures had been discovered.

Upon landing, Zhou Yu couldn't help but shiver and turned to Lin Weidong, "Elder Lin, do you feel that the air around us is exceptionally cold?"

Lin Weidong didn't speak first. Instead, he glanced down at the clothes Zhou Yu was wearing and said somewhat speechlessly, "Look at how many layers you're wearing. Of course, it's cold!"

Due to the terrain, the temperature difference between morning and evening in the Qiandu Mountain area was very significant. It might be thirty degrees Celsius under the midday sun, but it could drop to six degrees Celsius at night! Lin Weidong was wearing his combat uniform, a specially made outfit for Dragon Group combat personnel, which could maintain a stable body temperature.

"That's not right," Zhou Yu frowned. Logically, the physical fitness of a martial artist was incomparable to that of an ordinary person. Ordinary low temperatures should have no effect on a martial artist at all! Zhou Yu had been in Qiandu Mountain for more than a day, so why was this happening...

"Never mind, let's head inside first," Zhou Yu said with a frown, lifting his foot to walk further in. Arguing about it here wouldn't yield any results! They should go in and investigate first. If something was indeed wrong, they could always retreat!

Lin Weidong shook his head and followed behind Zhou Yu. They had been here once before, so they were somewhat familiar with the terrain, plants, and trees. Zhou Yu skillfully navigated through the weeds and arrived at the place where the unknown creatures had gathered.

Since the members of the Dragon Group had already cleared out the unknown creatures, only the towering trees, covered in claw marks that were truly shocking to behold, remained. The traces of those unknown creatures had long since vanished without a trace!

"Even though there's nothing here now, it still sends a chill down one's spine," Lin Weidong said as he walked around the colossal trees. Just looking at the claw marks, which were deeply embedded in the wood, was terrifying!

After circling the area for a while without any attacks, Lin Weidong finally felt relieved. "Alright, let's split up now and move quickly. We'll meet back here after two o'clock!"

Zhou Yu nodded. This island wasn't very large. If Lin Weidong encountered any danger, his shout could be heard by Zhou Yu. Besides, they had walkie-talkies and could communicate at any time.

Thus, the two parted ways under the towering trees. Zhou Yu chose to head deeper into the island, while Lin Weidong headed to the right. The place where the unknown creatures had made their nest was not the deepest part of the island.

As Zhou Yu ventured further, the surrounding vegetation and trees became increasingly massive, appearing like giants compared to the ones outside!

"It's like they've been injected with steroids," Zhou Yu exclaimed in wonder. But he also knew that although the island was a whole, due to different factors like water sources, trees, and altitude, each area had its own unique temperature and humidity, leading to varying degrees of tree growth. Clearly, the deeper he went, the higher the altitude. These trees and vegetation received more sunlight, and naturally, they would grow larger.

Initially, Zhou Yu could push aside the tree trunks with his hands. But later, even pushing them aside became troublesome! It took him several days to clear the branches with each step.

Zhou Yu simply stepped onto the canopy and strode forward. After walking a considerable distance, Zhou Yu noticed something under his feet. Due to the moonlight, it reflected a silver gleam! Zhou Yu immediately stopped, reached into the canopy, and grabbed the object hanging in the middle.

"It's the Shadow Organization!" Zhou Yu's sword-like eyebrows furrowed deeply as he saw the silver token! He looked around and felt that since an emblem of the Shadow Organization could be found here, it meant that people from the Shadow Organization had passed through this place! Perhaps there were even more clues!

However, because it was dark and the canopy was dense, no matter how hard Zhou Yu searched, he couldn't find any other clues. Only the silver token in his hand continued to reflect the moonlight. Looking ahead, the path seemed unfathomable.

Zhou Yu hesitated for a moment and did not venture further. Instead, he opened his walkie-talkie and contacted Lin Weidong.

"Elder Lin, have you found anything?"

Crackle-crackle-crackle—

Static crackled from the walkie-talkie, followed by Lin Weidong's voice. "Haven't found anything!"

Zhou Yu hesitated for a moment and said, "I found something here. Let's meet back at the big tree."

"Okay."

Lin Weidong's walkie-talkie seemed to be having issues, and his voice was filled with static. The crackling sound was so loud that it was almost impossible to understand what he was saying. However, since Lin Weidong hadn't cried out for help, it meant there was no immediate danger!

Zhou Yu put away the walkie-talkie and the silver token and sprinted back the way he came. Finding traces of the Shadow Organization in Qiandu Mountain was not a good sign! It meant that the Shadow Organization was very likely connected to the unknown creatures. The reason Zhou Yu hadn't investigated further and instead asked Lin Weidong to meet was because he feared that if the Shadow Organization was still nearby, Lin Weidong would be in danger!

When Zhou Yu reached the base of the towering trees, Lin Weidong was already there. Because the direction Lin Weidong chose had less vegetation, his journey had been easier than Zhou Yu's.

Upon seeing Zhou Yu arrive, Lin Weidong hurried forward and asked, "What did you find?"

Zhou Yu didn't beat around the bush. He directly took out the silver token and placed it in Lin Weidong's hand. "It's this. I picked it up from the ground. Someone must have accidentally dropped it."

Lin Weidong glanced at it under the moonlight, and his pupils immediately constricted! He almost cried out in disbelief, "It's the Shadow Organization!"

Zhou Yu nodded slightly.

"Are there any other clues?" Lin Weidong asked breathlessly.

Zhou Yu shook his head.
