Xing Can coldly glanced at Xing Yuan, saying sarcastically, "I didn't expect my sister to become so shameless after not seeing her for a while."
"The feeling is mutual! My brother hasn't become much more decent either!" Xing Yuan retorted.
The two stopped fighting and began to verbally attack each other. When they got tired of arguing, they bought two bottles of water, drank them, and continued their bickering. Their "sibling affection" was vividly displayed on them.
At some point, they ran out of insults and parted ways with grim expressions. Both, having stayed up nearly all night, quickly fell asleep once their heads hit the pillows.
Exhausted, Xing Yuan vaguely felt like she had forgotten something, but her extreme fatigue robbed her of the ability to think rationally.
Meanwhile, Ji Wen Yue planned to call Xing Yuan at the agreed-upon time. However, after many attempts, her phone showed that it was turned off.
Ji Wen Yue, already agitated by Xing Can's words, became even more unsettled.
She comforted herself, thinking that perhaps Xing Yuan had forgotten her phone, lost it, or there was a power outage. She didn't need to be so anxious.
However, the unease in her heart grew with each passing moment, making her wish she could see Xing Yuan directly. Only then would her anxieties disappear.
The next day, the first thing Ji Wen Yue did upon waking was to call Xing Yuan again. The result was the same: her phone was still off.
At the film set, she made a few more calls before shooting began, but the outcome remained identical.
She bit her lower lip, and hearing the director's call, she finally put down her phone, forcing herself to focus and continue her work professionally.
Xing Yuan slept until noon. Instinctively, she reached for her phone on the bedside table to check the time, only to find it black and out of battery.
After plugging it in to charge, she saw a string of missed calls from Ji Wen Yue as soon as she turned on her phone. Xing Yuan's expression visibly panicked.
"It's over. I was settling scores with that wolf cub, Xing Can, yesterday and completely forgot to call my sister on time."
Xing Yuan rubbed her messy hair and pondered deeply, trying to come up with a suitable excuse.
The excuse of forgetting to charge her phone was out of the question; it would never work.
Xing Yuan mused, and then her eyes lit up as she slapped her hand.
She got out of bed, washed up, put on a little makeup, and donned a suit she would only wear for formal occasions like going to the company. She then tied her tie.
Xing Yuan looked at herself in the mirror, exuding a cool aura. Satisfied, she smirked, found her assistant's number, and dialed.
"Boss!" The assistant answered immediately, their voice respectful.
"Get ready, I'm going to visit Teacher Ji's set!" Xing Yuan instructed.
The assistant nodded and took out a notebook. "Boss, are you planning to treat the crew to snacks under your name or Teacher Ji's name this time?"
"I want to go personally," Xing Yuan emphasized.
The assistant's pen slipped from their hand. A moment later, out of professional duty, they nodded calmly. "Understood."
After hanging up, the assistant called someone below. "Prepare for the highest standard. The CEO is going to inspect the set and treat the staff to a meal. Call the director and make arrangements."
The orders were relayed layer by layer. By the time Xing Yuan arrived at the set for her inspection, all the staff had heard that the big boss of Hengxing Entertainment was coming to observe their work.
Ji Wen Yue, who was filming, also heard about it from her gossip-loving assistant during a break.
Normally, Ji Wen Yue would be annoyed by her assistant's tendency to forget important tasks due to their obsession with gossip. However, this time, she silently gave them a thumbs-up. It seemed that this gossipy assistant was quite useful; at least she would know any news immediately.
Ji Wen Yue checked her phone and indeed found a message from Xing Yuan.
"Sister, wait for me, I have a surprise for you! (。>∀<。)"
Ji Wen Yue's previously agitated heart calmed down with this simple message.
Regardless of what the future held, she was certain now that Xing Yuan's feelings for her were genuine, and that was enough.
She believed she had enough charm to keep Xing Yuan interested in her.
This was Ji Wen Yue's confidence; she had always possessed such courage and self-assurance.
Xing Yuan toured the set with the crew members, nodding occasionally in acknowledgment, though in reality, she couldn't even recall what she had just seen.
Finally arriving at the filming site, Xing Yuan suppressed her excitement and winked at Ji Wen Yue. However, after a brief glance, Ji Wen Yue looked down at her script again.
Only her slightly curled fingers and the smile on her face betrayed her inner feelings.
Her assistant chattered beside her, "Wow! So many people are here! But I think Boss Xing is the best looking among them. Teacher Ji, don't you think so?"
Ji Wen Yue looked up at Xing Yuan and softly hummed in agreement.
Wherever and whenever, Xing Yuan was always the most dazzling presence. In this regard, she had also envied her in childhood.
But when this star fell into her embrace, it was no longer envy but pride.
She was proud of her.
Xing Yuan had indeed intended to create a grand spectacle, large enough to make her sister forget what she had done the previous night.
However, she hadn't expected that as soon as her message spread, several hangers-on seeking cooperation would surround her.
This made it difficult for her to get close to her sister.
She maintained a cold expression throughout, trying to make the people around her back off, but she underestimated their thick skin.
"Boss Xing, would you like some tea? It's West Lake Longjing, freshly brewed, and tastes excellent," one person said fawningly to Xing Yuan.
"No," Xing Yuan coldly refused without hesitation, not giving them any face.
But he didn't give up. "A while ago, I got a new batch of red wine, from France. Would Boss Xing do me the honor of tasting it?"
"I'm not interested," Xing Yuan refused ruthlessly.
The man, still persistent, opened his mouth to say more, but Xing Yuan suddenly turned around and looked at him with icy eyes.
"I'm here to inspect this film crew's work, not to collaborate with you. So stop wasting your efforts."
He chuckled awkwardly and forced a defense, "Boss Xing, you have a large enterprise, isn't this a case of sharpening the knife not hindering the woodcutting? You can inspect it. My studio might be small, but the quality of actors is undeniable."
"And!" He took a few more steps forward and whispered, "The most important thing is that they are obedient! I guarantee Boss Xing, they will do whatever you ask them to do."
