Chapter 467 The White Wolf and Her Caged Bird 7

Star Yuan, having vented her anger, felt guilty, but the sight she had witnessed earlier ignited a burning jealousy within her.

She pinched Li Yue's chin, forcing her to look at her. "Is my little skylark tired of me and looking for a new perch?"

Li Yue's eyes welled up with mist as she shook her head weakly, purring sweetly, "Your Highness is so valiant, how could I ever tire of you?"

"I didn't realize it was just the two of us in the room."

Li Yue thought Hei Yuan Zhou seemed quite gentlemanly, but White Wolf was easily prone to jealousy, so it was best to appease her. Otherwise, she would be the one suffering.

The satisfied White Wolf seemed much more agreeable than usual, but Li Yue was certain that if she said anything to displease her, she would demonstrate on the spot what it meant to be insatiably desirous.

"Mmm," Star Yuan nodded, appearing understanding.

She coaxed Li Yue to lie on her lap and gently applied medicine. The warmth of her fingers as she massaged caused Li Yue to involuntarily let out a soft "Mmm."

This single sound stirred a new impulse in Star Yuan. She gave a wry smile, lamenting the endless nature of her desires.

She was human, not a beast, and should possess some self-control.

As if sensing Star Yuan's hand venturing into forbidden territory, Li Yue struggled and transformed into a small skylark.

She had specifically inquired; a beast form was the safest state. No matter how perverse an Alpha, they couldn't do anything to her in her animalistic form.

Li Yue triumphantly flew to the window, oblivious to Star Yuan's suddenly gleaming eyes.

To be frank, White Wolf had a peculiar hobby.

Note: This refers to White Wolf, not Star Yuan.

She had a birdcage meticulously crafted at great expense, and spent her days contemplating how to get her omega to willingly enter it, but never succeeded in her lifetime. Star Yuan was eager to help her fulfill this wish.

She raised her hand, signaling Li Yue to come closer.

Li Yue hesitated for a moment, then, emboldened by the belief that Star Yuan could do nothing to her, she bravely flew onto Star Yuan's finger.

Star Yuan stroked the bird's soft feathers and walked into a pavilion. While Li Yue was enjoying the caress, she swiftly placed the bird into a golden cage large enough for a person.

Suddenly confined, Li Yue's eyes were filled with clear bewilderment.

She chirped a few times, then, seeing the large bed in the center of the cage, she simply lay down and reverted to her human form.

Her face flushed with anger, Li Yue looked at Star Yuan in disbelief. Even her gentle nature wavered under this immense blow. She retorted furiously, "Do you really think I'm a bird?"

Star Yuan smiled, her expression delighted, and her tone earnest. "Stay in there obediently for two days. It's my first time keeping a bird, so if you don't understand anything, you can tell me."

Li Yue was speechless. She tried to coax her with kind words, "I promise Your Highness that I will cooperate obediently from now on, but these two days are truly impossible. I have something to attend to."

"Oh? What is it?" Star Yuan eyed her askance.

Internally, she pondered. While she did want to see her sister confined in a cage, she didn't want anyone else to witness it. And lately, she had been noticeably busy, and starving her sister would clearly not be good...

Perhaps it was best to let it go. Although she could reconstruct memories, if she made a mistake and her sister remembered, her own days would likely be difficult.

Star Yuan made up her mind, but her face remained impassive, still wearing an expression of anger.

"Sister has truly disappointed me. I thought we were family, but you'd rather seek help from strangers you don't know than ask me for assistance. Am I not even as good as a stranger in your heart?"

Li Yue felt a pang of guilt, but her eyes reddened. Mustering her courage, she retorted, "And you? Do you see me as your partner? Am I not just a tool in your eyes?"

A tool to get through her heat period, someone she wouldn't even spare a glance at otherwise. Why was she speaking such preposterous words now?

Hearing this for the first time, Star Yuan was stunned for a moment before reacting with anger, "Who said that? If I didn't genuinely consider you my partner, why would I go to such lengths for you?"

Who spread such nonsense, she...

"Genuinely?" Li Yue sneered, throwing caution to the wind. "Is Your Highness's sincerity only present during your heat period or when you need something?"

Star Yuan began to sense the problem. When she herself felt unloved, did her partner feel the same way?

That made sense. White Wolf was very busy, and only during her heat period could she openly slack off. Normally, their time together was limited to dinner.

And sometimes, she would get so busy that she would end up elsewhere. It truly didn't seem like the relationship of close partners.

Moreover, their meeting had indeed been the result of a scheme.

Li Yue continued speaking, as if wanting to unload two years of pent-up dissatisfaction. "That's all in the past! After all, I never dared to hope for Your Highness's genuine affection. But aren't White Wolves known for being 'widowed, never divorced'?

Then why do I have to take medicine every day, as if you're afraid I'll get pregnant with a White Wolf cub?"

Star Yuan was even more bewildered. She searched through all her memories but couldn't find any record of this.

White Wolves generally went with the flow regarding such matters, and so did she. Why would she force her to take medicine?

Star Yuan's voice lacked conviction as she weakly defended herself, "I... I didn't."

Star Yuan lowered her head, opened the cage, and let the bird out, like a defeated general, dejected.

Li Yue, however, hesitated. Sensing Star Yuan's guilt, she sat on the bed, refusing to come out.

Star Yuan struggled for a second, and then a White Wolf with snow-white fur appeared in the room.

The White Wolf obediently lowered its proud head, adopting a submissive posture, and gently nuzzled Li Yue's chest.

The White Wolf's head was level with Li Yue's chest. While it might have seemed like she was taking advantage, Li Yue felt she probably didn't mean to.

She looked down at the White Wolf, who seemed to be admitting fault, and her heart softened. Almost involuntarily, her warm palm gently stroked the White Wolf's fur.

The White Wolf lay down, its silver eyes conveying a docile, pleading expression.

"You..." Li Yue began hesitantly, softly asking, "Do you like me?"

Star Yuan's eyes lit up, and she nodded her large head vigorously.

Sensing Star Yuan's emotional shift, Li Yue tentatively took a step forward, pushing her luck. "Then can I do what I like?"

Out of guilt, Star Yuan nodded frantically.

"Then did you send people to follow me?" Li Yue asked.

Logically, even if Star Yuan had received the news, she wouldn't have arrived so quickly unless she was nearby or had been following her.

But Li Yue had checked before entering the private room and confirmed she wasn't being followed, so she must have been nearby.
