Chapter 565 Crystal Nucleus Research Station
A beam of light shone in the sky above the Alamanda teleportation station, and after the light faded, Hao Ren and his group appeared on the teleporter platform. The planet was just welcoming the sunset, the sun almost completely set behind the mountains, and the last ray of sunshine diffused over the ruins of the Golden City, shrouding the entire city in a layer of dim golden brilliance.
Vivian looked up at the sky. She saw an irregular silvery-white light in the dim sky, becoming clearer as the sunlight weakened. The scale of the light was slightly smaller than the moon seen from Earth, and the edges were winding like mountains. She concentrated and saw distinct layers of structure in the silver glow: "Oh—that's the research station?"
Lily looked up and saw the moon come out, and immediately reflexively squatted on the ground, happily stretching her neck and howling: "Awoo... awoo... awoo... why don't I feel anything?"
Hao Ren grabbed the ears of this idiot and pulled her up: "Nonsense! This isn't the moon!"
"Actually, I've always been curious about the principle behind werewolves getting excited after seeing moonlight," Izhaks said, stroking his chin with a look of probing interest. "I don't feel any special energy in the moonlight. It's just normally reflected sunlight."
Vivian shrugged: "God knows what's going on. I've been dealing with werewolves for over ten thousand years and still haven't figured it out."
At this moment, a buzzing sound suddenly came from the high altitude in the east. It turned out that the Giant Turtle Rock Terrace had received orders to come down from orbit to pick them up. Hao Ren led everyone onto the spaceship, and soon came near the crystal-like space facility. Everyone was amazed when they observed this magnificent behemoth at close range. Lily regretfully fiddled with her ears: "I really should have come with you to see it, awoo! I didn't even see such a spectacular thing..."
Hao Ren ignored her, and just waited for the spaceship to slowly approach the space facility's docking port. He already had a structural diagram of this "Crystal City" in his mind, and knew that the docking port was located in the middle of the facility. This building was an intricately structured combination. Its central section was a huge control center, with compartments for spaceship docking, material transfer, personnel accommodation, and other functions, and around this center were connected one crystal dome after another. These domes were containers with similar structures and were the main working units of the research station.
Two of the working units had already been activated, but only one First Born had completed the "containment disposal" so far. After all, the First Born were troublesome things, not only huge in size, but also carrying a large amount of "impurities" that needed to be cleaned up when they were transported, plus the "lullaby" system had to be online throughout the transfer process, so it took a lot of time to handle them.
The First Born excavated from the Sunset Volcano had been disposed of and was now placed in the No. 1 closed container. The other First Born, because it was entangled with the Tree of Life, had not yet been processed.
Hao Ren watched as the crystal connecting bridge of the space docking port appeared on the screen, and told the data terminal to reduce the speed of the spaceship, then activated the external monitor in the other direction: "Look, that's the No. 2 sample that is undergoing containment operations."
Everyone immediately gathered around the holographic projection with great interest, and then saw the spectacular construction site in space.
One hundred kilometers away from the Giant Turtle Rock Terrace was the entrance to the No. 2 closed container, where the No. 2 sample was undergoing the final stage of processing. The mountain-like First Born was still fused with the Tree of Life, and the huge rocks and other impurities on the combination had been largely cleaned up. Many glittering, amorphous gel-like clusters were drilling in and out of the tendrils and vines of the combination, cleaning up the remaining impurities while completing a full-body scan of the First Born. Those glimmering clusters were the research station's "workers," because Hao Ren didn't have a large research team to call upon, so the research facility simply came with its own staff.
The debris and waste that were cleaned up were mainly rocks and soil, but they also contained chemical substances emitted by the First Born during its slow physiological activity over the past ten thousand years, as well as some fragments of exfoliated epidermis, so they also had some value for preservation. They would be sent to another workshop facility in the lower layer of the research station for the final step of decomposition, to extract all the useful things before being thrown into the atmosphere of Tanagus to burn up.
"The Tree of Life and the No. 2 sample have grown together, and it's impossible to separate them for a while, so I'm going to stuff this whole thing into the container," Hao Ren pointed to the No. 2 container on the screen, the shell-like crystal dome above the container was slowly opening, revealing the huge space inside, "Before putting it in, all the tendrils of the First Born and the connection points between it and the Tree of Life have been fitted with sensors and nerve blockers, so it will be much easier to do experiments in the future."
The dome of the No. 2 container had been fully opened, and the combination of the First Born and the Tree of Life was slowly pushed into it, wrapped in a ball of light. When the entire sample was completely submerged inside the container, a nearly transparent light film appeared in the gap between the inner wall of the container and the sample, wrapping the sample into a form that resembled a "cocoon," and then some kind of thin, cloud-like liquid substance was injected into it, gradually soaking the First Born.
After completing this final step, the crystal dome began to slowly close.
The Giant Turtle Rock Terrace received a report from the research station: "No. 2 container execution confirmation operation... main barrier layer closed, neutral medium liquid perfusion completed, signal transmission test... normal, secondary safety barrier closed, external dome closed. All safety components detected passed, signal connected to the central control area, research station host took over the container. Containment operation completed."
Lily listened to the report with a serious expression, solemnly nodding: "Yes, report confirmed."
Hao Ren smacked her on the head: "What are you confirming!"
Lily vigorously patted the back of the seat with her tail: "Because this is very cool, awoo!"
After watching the containment process of the giant container, the Giant Turtle Rock Terrace landed smoothly at the spaceship docking port. Everyone left the spaceship and walked onto a colorful, rainbow-like crystalline bridge. Above the bridge was a nearly transparent barrier, and beyond the barrier, you could directly see the brilliant starry sky outside. All around the bridge were crystalline architectural facilities. As soon as Lily saw this glittering scene, she became happy: "Wow! This place looks so beautiful! It's much prettier than the Kuiper Station!"
Vivian also touched her chin and commented, "Look how normal this aesthetic is, how come the equipment given to you all look like coffins?"
Hao Ren's mouth twitched: "It seems that the Goddess has a normal side after all: her aesthetic is normal when she builds houses."
The group walked along the crystalline bridge, and as they walked, Lily began to sneak sideways, her golden eyes reflecting excited light. Hao Ren had been staring at this husky from the very beginning, and at this moment, he instantly stopped her: "Lily, what are you doing?"
Lily's tail exploded with a poof, and she trotted back: "I'm going to see if there are guardrails on the side of the bridge..."
Hao Ren rolled his eyes: "Don't dig for stones here, I know you want to add two pieces of crystal to your treasure trove!"
Lily's ears drooped instantly: "Just one piece, okay?"
Hao Ren was amused by this guy's appearance: "Don't mess around, this is a new house—and I don't believe you can really knock stones off this place, this prison is used to imprison the First Born."
Vivian gave Lily bad advice from the side: "You can go to the glass market when you get home, anyway, you're just picking up stones to look at, just get something similar..."
Lily flicked her tail and ignored them both.
When the group came to the central area, Hao Ren suddenly remembered something: "Oh right, I haven't named this research station yet."
As soon as Hao Ren finished speaking, everyone around him stopped in unison. Vivian and Lily said almost in unison: "Think again!"
Hao Ren touched his hair: "I haven't said it yet, I think it should be called..."
Vivian sincerely pressed Hao Ren's mouth: "Don't say anything, think with your heart—think again."
Hao Ren: "..."
"It's just like that even if he thinks again. He can name his daughter Hao Dou Dou, and his cat Gun. How much more high-end names can he come up with," the data terminal swayed into the air, "Don't be indecisive, this research station has a name, Crystal Core Research Station—it's floating right above your head."
Hao Ren looked up and, sure enough, a standby screen of some kind of control center was floating on the crystal dome of the hall, and in the center of the standby screen was the name of the research station. He was very surprised: "How come Raven 12345's naming ability is normal this time?"
"Normal my ass," the data terminal contacted the research station's host and quickly understood the truth, "Look at this research station from a distance, doesn't it look like an apple core?"
Hao Ren: "..."
"So its full name is 'Crystal Apple Core Research Station', Crystal Core is the abbreviation."
Hao Ren: "... I shouldn't have asked why!"
(Physically and mentally exhausted =.=)
