Chapter 105 Two-Fool Roommate and Two-Fool Landlord

Chapter 18 The Warehouses

Putting aside the matter with Kasa Eben, Hao Ren had successfully entered the warehouse. Before him was an empty room.

"It was so easy to get in." Hao Ren brushed the glass shards off his body, still feeling a bit incredulous. When he saw the black mist coiling around the second floor of the warehouse, he thought it would be a difficult intrusion. He didn't expect the werewolf's black mist to be within his "magic immunity" range. Had he known it would be this easy, he should've acted sooner. All the determination he had mustered was wasted.

The data terminal floated in at some point and was now bobbing up and down beside him, its surface glowing with a faint blue light. "According to the radar, the target is not in this room."

Hao Ren glanced at the empty room and shoved the data terminal into his pocket. "No kidding. Anyone with eyes can see that."

Hao Ren stowed the data terminal, confirmed that his rigid shield was at full capacity, and tiptoed to the door, ready to sneak out and check the situation.

With a "creak," the old wooden door slowly opened, and Hao Ren found himself facing an open corridor.

The structure of the warehouse was simple, divided into two levels. The lower level was just one large warehouse, its height accounting for more than two-thirds of the entire building. The upper level, though called a floor, was actually just a row of duty rooms, offices, and dormitories built against the west wall, suspended on steel beams. The space below them was filled with the warehouse's various equipment and handling machinery – what was left of it, anyway. The rest was basically scrap metal.

The open corridor in front of Hao Ren connected all the rooms on the second floor. One side was a neat row of doors, while the other side had nothing but a railing, offering a direct view of the open space below. It looked dark and murky down there, with only the sunlight streaming through a few dilapidated holes in the warehouse roof illuminating a small area. Within that limited range of light, one could clearly see the black mist surging and covering the ground – those two werewolves had truly made this place impenetrable. They probably even thought about someone tunneling in. A freak like Hao Ren with "magic immunity" could only be considered an accident.

The row of doors in front of him was all blocked by black mist, but Hao Ren knew the mist wouldn't block sound. He lowered his voice and called out at each door, "Lily… Lily, answer me if you can hear me!"

There was no response, which finally made Hao Ren unable to suppress the worry in his heart. He decided to take the simplest approach: break down the doors.

Most of the doors were locked, or rusted shut, or nailed closed, so Hao Ren could only smash them open one by one. This naturally made a lot of noise, but he couldn't care less at this point. The old, fragile doors shattered under Hao Ren's brute force, and the strange black mist vanished as soon as the doors were smashed open, as if it were just for show. Hao Ren smashed through four or five rooms in a row before finally spotting the figure of that idiot werewolf when he smashed open about half of them:

In a room that had clearly been recently cleaned, Lily was lying motionless on a small bed, seemingly unconscious.

Seeing this scene, Hao Ren felt his heart skip a beat. He practically charged over. "Lily! Lily, what's wrong?! Lily, hurry… you idiot, you can fall asleep in a situation like this?!"

Lily groggily opened her eyes and gave Hao Ren a silly smile when she saw him. "Landlord, you're here?"

Hao Ren: "…Do you even know what's going on right now?!"

Lily pricked up her ears and listened to the commotion outside. "Oh, are the bats already fighting with people?"

Hao Ren felt it was difficult to have a serious conversation with a husky. He could only offer a gentle reminder. "You're actually sleeping at a time like this…"

"Because it's nap time."

"…"

At that moment, Hao Ren finally remembered that business trip to England not long ago. The amazing werewolf girl's ability to sleep on schedule was unparalleled. As long as it was sleep time, she would close her eyes and fall asleep no matter what. Under extreme conditions, she could even stand upright and sleep while snoring, relying on her sense of smell to follow the team all the way from London to Brussels… Faced with such a husky who had maximized her biological clock, what could you say but shed tears…

"Okay, never mind that," Hao Ren sighed, pulled Lily up from the bed, and checked her up and down to make sure the idiot wasn't hurt. "Are you awake now? Did they make things difficult for you?"

"No," Lily pointed to a small table in the corner of the room. There were six lunchboxes on the table. "They even bought me food. The first time they didn't buy enough, so they bought another round. Actually, putting aside the crazy part, they were quite polite."

Hao Ren: "…" He suddenly had the urge to rush out and stop Vivian from oppressing the good people. How to break this impulse!

Lily was now fully awake, and she seemed to be in excellent condition. Plus, Hao Ren had already broken the black mist blockade on the door, so the two of them prepared to go directly to join Vivian. Once the three of them were together, Kasa Eben could do whatever he wanted. They would have plenty of time to sort things out then.

But things were destined not to go so smoothly. Just as Hao Ren pulled Lily from the second-floor room and jumped down to the warehouse floor, a cloud of black mist came whistling from nearby and blocked their path.

The black mist solidified a few meters away, turning into a lean male werewolf who was about the same height as Hao Ren, perhaps even a bit smaller.

It was the Crazy Number Two (Lily's words) among the "two psychos" Lily had mentioned on the phone.

This was a werewolf very different from Kasa Eben. He didn't have such a burly physique, but he still had a lot of power after transforming (and his appearance was equally lacking). This werewolf emerged from a cloud of black mist, panting heavily, and blocked Hao Ren and Lily. Although he tried to increase his aura, he looked disheveled: his coat hung on his body like tattered rags, his head and face were covered in blood, and his exposed arms had obvious signs of corrosion and burns.

Seeing this scene, Hao Ren immediately understood why Kasa Eben could quickly get rid of the blood mist clone and appear in front of him and Vivian so quickly: selling out his teammate, huh?

"Where are you going?" The small werewolf scanned Hao Ren and Lily several times, finally focusing on Lily. "Have you been bewitched by the vampire?!"

"No," Lily said matter-of-factly. "I want to go home. I've said I want to go home so many times, but you just wouldn't listen. Now you're in trouble, my landlord has come to pick me up!"

"Landlord?" The small werewolf stared at Hao Ren, slowly regaining his breath. "He came with the vampire… So that's it. No wonder Kasa and I both thought you were crazy. We thought you were just disabled. It turns out you've been controlled by the vampire's tricks all along. Don't be afraid, after Kasa deals with that female vampire outside, I'll take care of this guy, and you'll wake up…"

Hao Ren felt the situation was unprecedentedly chaotic. He saw the small werewolf already glaring at him, and he could only give a wry smile and assume a defensive stance. "Look, there must be some misunderstanding… The same goes for outside. If that Kasa could talk things out properly, he and Vivian might not even have started fighting. Put down your claws first, let's talk…"

Who would want to talk to him properly at a time like this? The small werewolf didn't listen to him at all. He just roared and pounced on him, waving his claws!

Of course, Hao Ren himself wasn't naive enough to think he could really negotiate in this situation. He was just spouting nonsense to relieve some pressure. Now that he saw the opponent pouncing on him, the reaction ability he had developed in the Dream Plane immediately came into play. He raised his hand to block in the nick of time, then punched the enemy in the face.

A sharp, grating sound that made one's teeth ache came from Hao Ren's arm. The werewolf's claws scratched against the rigid shield, erupting in a burst of sparks. The small werewolf probably had never seen anyone with a layer of strange light film on their body that was even stronger than steel. He only felt like he had scratched his claws against a solid diamond, and before his claws could break, a fist the size of a sand pot had already smashed into his face.

With a "boom," the small werewolf, already seriously injured and with little combat power left, was directly sent flying by Hao Ren's brute force.

Hao Ren breathed a sigh of relief, slowly retracted his fist, and quietly said, looking in the direction where the enemy had been sent flying, "Oh my god, you scared me to death…"

The data terminal floated out of his pocket. "Don't you think it's inappropriate to say that in this pose?"

Hao Ren sighed. "…I was just posing, forgot to think of the words, and said what was on my mind."
