Chapter 50 Ancient Castle

Chapter 1 Silver Moon

Silver moonlight was hazy, and the night was deep. The empty and desolate wilderness was silent and deserted. Only a rustle of wings could be heard from high above as a vampire girl with bat wings swiftly flew across the sky. The moonlight spilled onto Vivian, diffusing into a blurry halo, completely concealing her vampire aura. Because she wasn't sure if the haunted castle here would attract real demon hunters, Vivian was very vigilant, using the power of the moonlight to cover her scent all the way.

Hao Ren, with Vivian holding him under his armpits as they flew in the sky, felt very excited. "Actually, when you first said you were going to hang me up and fly, I refused, because you can't just tell me to fly and I'll fly. At least you should let me get used to it. I don't want to wait until you hang me up..."

Vivian's voice came from above: "Speak human language."

"...Give me some mental preparation, sis! I haven't even agreed yet and you've taken me so high. A normal person's heart can't take it!"

"Didn't you take it just fine?" Vivian glanced down at Hao Ren. She had dragged him into the sky before he could react, and now she had no intention of apologizing. "Just be happy, an ordinary person doesn't have this honor. Do you think we blood clans like to carry people around? It's heavy and troublesome."

Hao Ren was silent. Although he felt a little embarrassed being hung in the sky by a girl, since there was no one else watching, he took it as a novel experience. But when Vivian first dragged him into the sky, he was nervous, afraid that this unreliable vampire would run out of strength and let go halfway. He really didn't know if the body enhancements that Raven 12345 had done for him could withstand it. But now it seemed that Vivian was not human after all. Although she couldn't compare to Lily in strength, it was still quite easy to grab an adult and fly for dozens of kilometers.

Hao Ren looked down at the ground below. It was very high above the ground, but with the moonlight, he could still see the situation below. There was a small silver-white figure following directly below him in the wilderness covered with gravel and yellow earth. It was Lily running after them. In order to keep up with Vivian's flying speed, Lily had transformed into a werewolf form and was running on all fours the whole time. The silver-white things were her tail and long hair.

What was amazing was that the werewolf girl was still sleeping—she followed them here with her eyes closed. Even Vivian was amazed by this simpleton's ability to follow. This girl could actually follow a vampire flying in the sky while asleep, relying solely on her sense of smell. This proved that Lily, who looked like a complete idiot on the surface, actually had an amazing "hunting" talent. She just didn't want to improve. Otherwise, just based on this tracking ability, she would probably be one of the best hunters among werewolves.

The group of three arrived at the Yoford Ancient Castle, dozens of kilometers away, in this magical way of traveling. In addition to avoiding the main road and only taking the wilderness, Vivian also kept one of her bat clones far behind Angus's car to determine the movements of the people in the car. Fortunately, everything went smoothly along the way. The people in the car did not notice that there were werewolves and vampires nearby traveling in such a high-profile group. Even that bragging Mr. Nangong didn't make a sound. He didn't even bother to look out the window.

"That is the Yoford Ancient Castle," Vivian's voice suddenly came from the side above after flying in the night for an unknown amount of time. Hao Ren looked up and saw a pile of rubble on a high ground ahead. The castle had collapsed so completely that it was impossible to see what it looked like, but it was still possible to see how magnificent it was back then from the scale of the pile of stones. "Let's land here."

Vivian landed steadily on the ground with Hao Ren. The latter quickly jumped in place to move his limbs that had been stiff from hanging all the way. Although it was still summer, it wasn't very comfortable to hang in the high altitude and blow the night wind for more than an hour. Hao Ren felt that he should be frozen if he hung for a while longer. While Hao Ren was rubbing his sore arms and preparing to set off for the ancient castle, a silver-white shadow suddenly rushed past him like a gust of wind, stirring up countless grass clippings and sand.

Hao Ren and Vivian stared blankly as the white shadow ran out several hundred meters in the blink of an eye and crashed straight into a large rock in the distance...

There was a loud bang, and the solid boulder several meters high was smashed to pieces as if it had been shelled. During this period, there was also a faint muffled cry of pain from Lily. Hao Ren quickly ran over in three steps. As a result, he saw the werewolf girl rolling on the ground while rubbing her head in the gradually dispersing stone dust and mist. Okay, Lily finally woke up completely, although it wasn't a natural awakening.

Vivian was dumbfounded: "This head... is enough to be a wind hammer in a quarry! Werewolves really have muscles in their heads..."

Lily climbed up from the ground in a very embarrassed state. One of the pair of pointed ears, which were originally very energetic, was now standing up, while the other drooped listlessly on her head, looking like it was hurt from the collision. The werewolf girl was covered in dirt and grass clippings. When she shook her hair, stone chips fell down with a rustling sound. However, her mental state was very good. She casually wiped her face a few times and then pulled on Hao Ren's arm and shook it: "Landlord, landlord, look, I can keep up—that winged one said she was flying so fast, but she's not much faster than me!"

Vivian flicked her hair: "Nonsense, I'm carrying someone. Next time you carry the landlord and I'll fly in the sky, and we'll see who's faster."

"Stop it, stop it, let's do something serious," Hao Ren pressed down with both hands to calm down the two superwomen. Then he saw some lights faintly moving towards them from under the small hill in the distance. He quickly pulled Lily and Vivian away, "Let's leave this place first. Lily's head made too much noise just now, and it seems like it has attracted people."

The three of them took advantage of the night to quickly leave the "landing point" that was already in a mess, and detoured to another small hill nearby. This place was closer to the ancient castle ruins and could better see the situation around the ancient castle.

The Yoford Ancient Castle was located on a high ground, but it was not as strategically important as other ancient castles. This was probably because the terrain in this area was flat, and even the lords of that time could not find a more suitable place to defend. The castle itself had completely collapsed. Just like what Hao Ren saw in the sky, only large piles of stones could be seen on the high ground. It could barely be seen that it was once a huge stone building, but it was impossible to see what the original castle looked like. The gray-white cold stone blocks were piled up to form a roughly rectangular ruin, which looked lifeless.

Near the high ground, a small group of lights could be seen gathered together. With the help of the moonlight and lights, it could be seen that there were some tents and a few large carts there. There were faint figures flickering in the lights, presumably the paranormal enthusiasts attracted by the haunting of the ancient castle.

There weren't as many people as imagined. It seemed that there were only a dozen or so people. It seemed that there were still few fanatical enthusiasts who would camp in the wilderness in the middle of the night to look for ghosts. This made Hao Ren feel a lot more relaxed—he thought this place would already be crowded with people.

Obviously, this guy confused the ghost-catching convention with a temple fair.

"Nangong and the others have arrived too." Vivian raised her hand and pointed. Hao Ren saw a beam of car lights coming from far away. In the night, he saw that it was the innkeeper Angus's off-road vehicle. Nangong was sitting in the back seat of the car, still with the same arrogant expert look on his face.

"Hey, wait," Hao Ren suddenly felt that something was wrong. He rubbed his eyes hard and looked into the darkness on the other side of the wilderness. "Vivian, how's your eyesight at night?"

"It's good," Vivian nodded. "I'm a nocturnal creature."

"Then can you see three dead trees in that direction? There's also one...oh no, two big rocks under one of the trees."

"Yes, I can see them clearly," Vivian said casually, and then suddenly realized, "Wait, you can see them too?!"

Hao Ren squinted. He discovered a detail that he hadn't noticed along the way before: although the surrounding night was deep and there was only a dim moon shining in the sky, everything in his field of vision was as clear as day! The three dead trees in the distance were estimated to be at least two or three kilometers away, but he could almost see every branch on the trees!

"Is this...Raven 12345's salary arrived?" Hao Ren suddenly remembered what Raven 12345 had told him before he left. "Under suitable conditions, the various effects of body strengthening will be gradually opened, is that what she meant?"

Hao Ren's mood improved. He felt that he had been scammed for so long, and finally encountered something good.
