Chapter 144 God's Perspective
After meeting that old officer named Danmos, Hao Ren finally believed what Raven 12345 had told him: even if you die, I have a way to revive you and make you work for me again.
His boss was truly a god!
The group politely declined Danmos' invitation to enjoy "exotic food" at the space station. Hao Ren was eager to get home and settle the hot potato egg, so he teleported directly home, while Raven 12345 returned to her residence. As soon as he entered the house, Hao Ren couldn't help but exhale. This trip involved both alien planets and space stations. For ordinary people, either one would be enough to brag about for a lifetime. He still felt dizzy and unreal, and he needed to go back to his room and sort out his thoughts.
"G滚" was dozing on the sofa armrest. Seeing its master return, it lazily raised its tail and curved it, indicating "I know," as if it were the head of the household. Hao Ren carried the strange egg around upstairs and downstairs but didn't see anyone. He felt a little strange. "Hey, did Vivian and Lily go out?"
Nangong Wuyue and Izhaks returned to their rooms to temporarily put down their luggage. They came to the living room and happened to hear Hao Ren's words. The siren girl looked around the living room and found a note pressed under the large cabinet. She lifted the cabinet and pulled out the note. "Oh, it's a note from Lily. They received a message from Raven 12345, knowing we were coming back today, so the two of them went out to buy groceries together."
Hao Ren looked at the cabinet in astonishment. "...Why put the note under this thing?"
"Who knows? Maybe she's strong and just found something that looked stable to press the note down," Nangong Wuyue didn't know enough about Lily's husky nature, so she forcefully gave a seemingly reasonable guess (in fact, the real reason was that Lily was just silly). After she finished speaking, she yawned. "I'm so sleepy. I'm going back to my room to sleep."
Hao Ren waved his hand to the siren and continued to worry while holding the egg. "Where should I put this thing?"
He looked at the large cabinet. Putting it on top was afraid it would fall, and putting it inside was afraid that someone would accidentally knock it to the ground when taking something. He also looked at his room, feeling that there didn't seem to be a suitable and safe place in his room. Putting such a big egg in the drawer seemed a bit difficult, and putting it on the table as a handicraft...felt too improper. After thinking for a long time, he felt that the small warehouse in the basement seemed good. Putting it there wouldn't be disturbed by anyone and should be safe, but before he took action, Izhaks reminded him, "This egg will hatch something."
Hao Ren thought it was true. Raven 12345 had said that this egg was still alive, so it wouldn't be surprising if a little mermaid popped out of it at any time. Therefore, he definitely couldn't put this thing in a corner or a closed place, otherwise, there would be an accident. And it couldn't be placed in a place that was easy to forget. What if he carelessly forgot about this and the little mermaid hatched and starved to death?
"The goddess said to arrange a place near water for it. Mermaids need moisture around them after they hatch," Izhaks took out a small notebook, on which he had recorded Raven 12345's "Egg Incubation Instructions" at some point, "It's best to prepare a pool next to it. The mermaid will jump in by itself after it comes out. Don't put it near poisonous things. Mermaids that have just hatched are very curious and will bite everything to try..."
"...You must be good at taking care of children." Hao Ren looked at Izhaks in astonishment.
"Hehe, I've taken care of children before, but I'm definitely not a good father," a strange expression flashed across Izhaks' face. "Let's not talk about this. Let's prepare a suitable place for this egg first."
Hao Ren nodded and carried the egg to the kitchen. He originally wanted to place it next to the sink, but after thinking about it, he felt it was unreliable. What if Vivian accidentally cooked this egg when she was cooking? So he carried the egg to the utility room, filled a basin with water, and soaked the egg in it. Only then did he feel relieved: there was as much water as needed here, and the ground was flat, so he wasn't afraid that the little mermaid would run around and fall after hatching. In addition, the utility room was used every day, so the egg's hatching could be discovered as soon as possible. There was simply no more suitable place than this!
After settling this precious egg, Hao Ren returned to the living room, thinking carefully about what he had forgotten. As a result, he suddenly realized and slapped his forehead. "Damn it! I forgot to ask about the important thing!"
"What's wrong?" Izhaks hadn't even changed his clothes and seemed to be planning to go out. He turned his head curiously when he heard this.
"The things I saw in the Dream Plane! I forgot to ask after meeting Raven!" Hao Ren hurriedly grabbed the data terminal and prepared to teleport over, then noticed that Izhaks looked like he was about to go out. "You're going out?"
"It's boring to stay at home, and I'm not tired from just running this little distance," Izhaks smiled honestly. "I'm going out for a walk."
Hao Ren was very strange about how this great demon had so much motivation. He had just returned from a trip of more than 800 light-years and still wanted to go out for a walk, but it was his own business, so he nodded. "Then go ahead. Remember to come back for dinner tonight. Vivian will definitely make a hard dish today."
After leaving these words, Hao Ren activated the data terminal's teleportation function. After a daze in front of his eyes, he arrived at Raven 12345's courtyard.
Raven 12345 was carrying the silver-white greatsword towards the garden, seemingly planning to tend to the flowers and plants. She was taken aback when she saw Hao Ren. "Oh, why are you here so soon again? Do you want to go on another business trip?"
"No, I want to consult you about something," Hao Ren quickly waved his hand. "About the Dream Plane."
Raven saw that Hao Ren's expression was very serious, so she put away her joking intention and walked towards the tea table in the garden. "Come, sit here and talk slowly."
Hao Ren and Raven 12345 sat down at the exquisite round tea table. Arcane servants appeared from somewhere and brought red tea and pastries. Hao Ren sorted out his thoughts and slowly recounted what he had seen in the Dream Plane. "It's like this, I saw Leta Runes in the Dream Plane. The residents there seem to regard it as decorations on their houses..."
Hao Ren told Raven about what he saw in the "dream" in its entirety, and also mentioned the bizarre legend of the "Goddess Destroying the World." Finally, he asked a little curiously, "Do you know about that Goddess Destroying the World story? Could it be something you did?"
"What would I do to destroy the world for fun," Raven 12345 glared at Hao Ren while holding the sugar jar. "Do you think 'destroying the world' is child's play that you can do based on your mood?"
Hao Ren scratched his face. "The legend says that the people of the magical empire studied high technology and went too far, studying into the realm of creation gods, and even gave themselves a bunch of divine titles. If that really happened, wouldn't you be angry?"
"Why be angry?" Raven 12345 was very strange. "This shows that this mortal civilization has potential, is very smart, and has strong independent living ability. I'm happy even before it's too late. You know, as a goddess, how much performance evaluation can I get during the annual assessment if such a smart race appears under my rule?"
Hao Ren never expected that the real goddess would have such an attitude towards this matter. He felt that it was a bit inconsistent with his common sense. "Isn't it...Mortals studying the knowledge of gods, do you not care?"
"I only care when they go too far. If they do something big and study things that can destroy the world when they don't have enough ability, I will definitely care. But the kind you're talking about obviously didn't go too far. A mere biochemical research, even if it's played too big, won't harm the balance of the entire world. This kind of minor disturbance that can't even trigger an alarm, how is it worth destroying the world?" Raven 12345 bared her teeth. "The only thing that needs to be disciplined is their phenomenon of giving themselves divine titles, but this is not a big deal. Ignorance is bliss. They don't know what the real gods look like. They just occasionally have fun themselves. As long as they don't cause trouble for others in the name of God, let them have fun themselves. Who doesn't have a rebellious age..."
Hao Ren: "..."
It turned out that an ancient civilization that thought it had touched the "realm of God," and even collectively gave themselves divine titles, was just a group of rebellious children in the eyes of Raven, the real goddess. She didn't care at all!
Raven 12345 saw that Hao Ren was not speaking, and added with a smile, "As for what you said about the 'knowledge of God,' this sentence is nonsense. There is no knowledge that belongs exclusively to someone. The truth is there. If you have the ability, go and study it yourself. If you study it, it's yours. If you don't study it, don't complain that God has set any taboos—what's the difference between this and complaining that the questions are difficult when you fail an exam? But then again, the guys who fail the exam in the process of civilization development don't seem to have a chance to complain. Basically, they all die..."
"So the legend of the Goddess Destroying the World in the Dream Plane has nothing to do with you?"
"It really wasn't me who did it." Raven nodded confidently.
