Chapter 11 Abnormal Creature
Hao Ren made a pot of hot tea and then stared blankly with the two abnormal creatures in the living room.
The vampire girl, looking wary, and Lily, puffed up with anger, sat at opposite ends of the long, narrow coffee table. Tension crackled between them, a cold, biting aura and an atmosphere full of wild power swirling in their eye contact. Hao Ren could almost see visible gray-blue energy clusters rotating above the coffee table. The tea had been placed on the table, but the two superwomen had no intention of resolving the conflict. In this chilling atmosphere, Hao Ren could only shrink his neck, using his fragile human body to withstand the double pressure from the werewolf and the vampire, while racking his brains to figure out how to make these two believe each other:
Lily insisted that the vampire in front of her wanted to suck the landlord's blood, and all her explanations were just fabricated to escape because she couldn't beat herself (how this idiot could be so confident, he didn't know). Furthermore, Hao Ren had been charmed by the vampire's magic and was talking nonsense. The vampire girl insisted that Lily wanted to coerce humans to lurk in human cities, and all of Hao Ren's words were under the threat of the werewolf…
This formed a deadlock: they didn't believe each other, and they didn't believe the third party, and there was no fourth party on the scene…
Oh, there was actually a fourth party on the scene, which was the black and white kitten squatting not far away eating. This magical creature named "Gun" was completely unaware of the cold wind in the living room, guarding a bowl of cat food as if guarding all of paradise. Hao Ren almost suspected that this clueless cat was also an "anomaly."
"Well," Hao Ren, as the host, had to break the silence. He turned to the source of all misunderstandings, the vampire girl, "This vampire miss, so to speak, last night…"
"Please don't use the term 'vampire'," the black-haired, straight-haired girl, dressed plainly but with a natural, cool, and elegant temperament, frowned slightly. "Only those blood-feeding servants with only instinct can be called vampires. Those of us who can restrain the scarlet thirst are nobles among the blood clan. Humans have a deep misunderstanding of us, so they always get it wrong. You can call me Vivian; I can't tell you my full name yet."
"Oh," Hao Ren nodded. Although he didn't know the difference between blood-feeding servants and high-level blood clans, nor did he know what the scarlet thirst was, he could see that the black-haired, straight-haired girl in front of him was actually quite easy to talk to. "Vivian, right? So, last night you didn't attack us? You actually came to help?"
"I saw a human with a werewolf, and I didn't know if you were deceived or threatened," Vivian nodded. "Originally, I wanted to just take you away. No matter what curse the werewolf placed on you, their inferior magic is easy to deal with. But last night, I was in poor condition and was actually… injured by a hidden weapon. Beasts are beasts; they use every means in battle, devoid of any beauty."
"Pretentious," Lily snorted. "You just couldn't beat her; stop making excuses. Show me where I'm coercing the landlord. He can run and jump; I'm not holding him by the neck."
The cold wind around Vivian suddenly intensified: "Werewolf claws carry curses. Do you think I don't even know this common knowledge?"
Hearing this, Lily looked down at her hands in surprise: "Wow, am I that awesome?"
Hao Ren decided to ignore this idiot and turned to look at Vivian with a sincere expression: "Look, I'm really not being coerced! I swear to God, Lily didn't curse me!"
Vivian nodded immediately. Just when Hao Ren was happy that the vampire… blood clan girl was finally seeing the light, she became even more serious: "Don't worry, I know you must be afraid to tell the truth because of the curse and because you don't believe in my strength. Wait until I recover, and I'll show you that this wild dog who only throws bricks is no match for a high-level blood clan!"
Hearing this, Lily slammed her hand on the coffee table, and a large, uniform crack appeared on the surface: "Who are you calling a wild dog?! You winged rat!"
Vivian no longer suppressed her hostility. She stood up abruptly, and the coffee table in front of her and the sofa behind her were covered with a layer of frost at a visible speed: "Think you're great? Let's fight again! It's because you guys can't control your instincts and are causing trouble everywhere that the situation has become like this today!"
The killing intent, which had been controlled around the coffee table, finally spread out with the release of its masters. Accompanied by two angry shouts, there was the howling of the cold wind and faint wolf howls. The clueless "Gun" finally realized that something was wrong, quickly swallowed a few mouthfuls of cat food, and scurried upstairs, leaving Hao Ren looking at his furniture, his heart filled with anxiety: "My coffee table…"
He didn't know how he withstood this wave of killing intent.
"Landlord, don't worry, I'll pay for it." Lily was a good girl, immediately realizing her mistake and quickly apologizing to Hao Ren, even in her anger.
Hao Ren completely understood: the werewolf in front of him was an idiot, and the blood clan was stubborn! Don't look at Vivian's seemingly normal appearance, but in reality, she probably wasn't much smarter than Lily. In this day and age, capable people can't live without personality flaws, right?
Just as Lily and Vivian were about to fight in the living room, Hao Ren's original patience finally ran out. He punched the coffee table hard, shouting in the most imposing voice he could muster: "Enough! This is my house!"
This shout and punch were something that Hao Ren, the slow-paced, good-natured person, hadn't done in years, but the deterrent power of a docile leopard finally showed a little bit. The vampire girl and the werewolf girl finally realized that this was someone else's home, and one of them realized that she owed the landlord money for a coffee table. So, the two of them stopped in unison, staring at Hao Ren with four eyes.
"What are you looking at me for?" Hao Ren was startled when he suppressed the two "anomalies" with a shout. He didn't expect that he would actually have the guts to shout in front of such powerful creatures who could easily kill a person with a wave of their hand (and he successfully suppressed the situation after shouting). But then he felt that it was worth living this life if he could have this feat, and now, looking at the four eyes on him, he felt completely emboldened, "Look at yourselves, an idiot and a stubborn fool! I'm the person involved here, okay? Can you please not ignore the person involved's opinion and make conclusions on your own?! And this, this, this… does this fit your identities? When did werewolves and blood clans become so selfless in protecting humans? Can you first let me, the most confused guy, understand this point, and then argue about your misunderstandings?"
Hao Ren had been holding back this last question for a long time. In this day and age of information explosion and cultural integration, who doesn't know the story of vampires and werewolves? If you search in the fantasy movie library, at least two out of ten movies are related to these two species. In Hao Ren's mind, bloodthirsty, irrational werewolves and sinister, cold vampires are as conspicuous as two symbols, but these two in front of him… what's going on?
If he couldn't figure out this question, he couldn't find a good rhythm for courting death!
To his surprise, Lily and Vivian said in unison: "I'm not the same as those wild animals!"
Then the two girls glanced at each other with some surprise, then snorted coldly and turned their heads away, obviously believing that only they were sincere.
"I don't know what's going on with other clansmen. They seem like they can't live without fighting against humans, but I've been with humans since I was conscious," Vivian said, crossing her arms, "And I instinctively… hate other blood clans. Don't ask me why; I don't know. I've been like this since I was little, and I can't stand other 'anomalies' fighting with humans; they're too stupid. That's it."
"I haven't seen other 'anomalies'," Lily sniffed, seemingly unhappy with Vivian's "scent". "I woke up in a very cold place, probably the snowy plains, and I was in human form when I woke up. I was adopted and raised by an old lady, and I've been with humans for decades since then. We only moved when they suspected my appearance wouldn't grow up. I like humans; I'm used to humans. Any problem?"
Hao Ren looked at the two abnormal creatures and decided to believe them.
Anyway, believing or not didn't matter – he couldn't beat either of them.
