Chapter 837 Conjecture on the Phenomenon of Splitting

“To be honest, I'm quite surprised she thought of eating her own split bodies,” Raven 12345 sized up Vivian, her tone genuinely impressed. “But rest assured, the split bodies are just split bodies. They're not as stable as the original. After splitting, they gradually lose their self-awareness. These fragmented souls won't interfere with Vivian's primary consciousness. Of course, some extra memories might cause short-term effects on her life—right?”

Raven 12345 directed the last two words at Vivian, who immediately nodded. “A little, yeah. For the first couple of days, I kept dreaming about things on the Purgatory Planet, scenes from ten thousand years ago. Sometimes I'd wake up and it would take me a while to remember whether I should be making breakfast or continuing to maintain world peace.”

Hao Ren immediately tensed up. “What about now?”

“It's fine now,” Vivian said, shaking her head. “It only affected me for the first few days.”

Hao Ren breathed a sigh of relief, then stroked his chin, looking thoughtfully at the twenty-odd copies of Vivian. He knew these were irrational evil spirits, even more insane than the "Ancestor of Evil Spirits" on the Purgatory Planet. Once released, they'd probably bite anyone they could get their hands on, like the red-haired Vivian who'd emerged from the magic book. But could these evil spirits have some other use here?

“You didn't collect these split bodies just to collect a set for a prize, did you?” Hao Ren raised his eyes to look at Raven 12345. “Do they have any use? Or… are you planning to piece them together and create a Frankenstein-Vivian?”

Vivian sighed, a wry smile on her face. “I'm starting to think my attributes are getting more and more magical.”

“I've been testing the 'symbols' represented by these split bodies,” Raven 12345 said, pointing at the crystal containers. “Although I still don't understand what kind of existence these guys are, by categorizing their powers, I've discovered that each split body represents an attribute, and they're mostly negative. You can take a look yourself. They're all labeled.”

Curious, Hao Ren went over for a look, and sure enough, he saw labels in front of each crystal container. The meanings of the labels were clear and bizarre. He read them one by one, from left to right: “Anger… Avarice… Fear… Decay… Pestilence… This empty one is the first evil spirit we killed last time, right? She represents Waning?”

“Mm,” Raven 12345 said, crossing her arms. “Anger and fear are usually negative mental powers. Decay and pestilence can cause great damage to living organisms. Avarice is a very interesting ability. I didn't notice any obvious phenomena when I tested her. At first, I thought she was a harmless individual, but I soon discovered that she can increase your power consumption by dozens or even hundreds of times when you use your abilities. It doesn't affect me, but it's no joke for other things. Then there's Waning, which you're familiar with—Vivian should have mastered that skill, though not as powerful as the original.”

“These negative powers all split off from me?” Vivian asked, wide-eyed. “But I don't remember ever having these powers. Even in my prime, I didn't have so many evil skills.”

Raven 12345 snapped her fingers. “So, let's think differently. Once these negative energies surge within you, some kind of protective mechanism activates, rejecting these negative energies as 'split bodies.' The root cause of your splitting may be an unstable soul, and an unstable soul produces 'impurities.' These impurities eventually form evil spirits—a perfect chain theory.”

“Constantly generating negative power, and then rejecting these negative powers as split bodies… It feels so strange to apply this to myself…” Vivian stuck out her tongue. “So, each of my split bodies represents an attribute? Then what attribute do I have?”

Hao Ren and Raven 12345 said in unison, “Probably poverty.”

Vivian: “……”

“Ahem, that's not important,” Hao Ren coughed twice, changing the subject. He looked up at Raven. “The key is that even if your theory is correct, it doesn't explain where the negative power in Vivian's body comes from. She just spontaneously generates negative factors? How can such a sunny vampire split off so many villainous clones that look like they should die several times in Hollywood?”

Hao Ren seemed to have stumbled upon a key question. Raven 12345 was silent for a moment after hearing it. “That can probably only be found in the depths of her heart, in the deepest part of all her memories, in the earliest moments when she came to the surface world… even earlier than that, before her first split. There should be the root of her constant generation of negative power. But that 'root' is difficult for external forces to interfere with. I've designed a few plans, but none of them are safe.”

Hao Ren had always thought that Raven 12345 was omnipotent. He was naturally curious. “Not safe? Why?”

“Because the attribute of that 'root' is uncertain. Vivian's soul is like a complex black box. You don't know what's inside until you activate it. If the 'core' that constantly generates negative power goes out of control, can you imagine the consequences?” Raven 12345 gestured towards the crystal containers. “She might become one of them, or she might become a completely irrational mother that constantly releases these evil spirits.”

A chill rose from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. Hao Ren actually felt the biting cold of winter in this spring-like godly house. This unease was also reflected in Vivian—though she, as the person involved, was calmer. “At least it doesn't have any immediate impact, right?”

“You've been living like this for ten thousand years, haven't you?” Raven 12345 put away her previous serious expression, a faint smile on her face. This smile seemed to have magic, reassuring Vivian and Hao Ren. “Since all these evil spirits you've split off are negative, it means that there must be some kind of 'detoxification' mechanism in your body. This mechanism can ensure your safety. And before your next split, I'll definitely find a safe solution for you. Don't underestimate my research ability, goddess. I'm just not good at starting for the moment, not that I don't have any ideas.”

Hao Ren and Vivian both breathed a sigh of relief. To be honest, this up-and-down mood was really hard to get used to. After catching his breath, Hao Ren remembered something. “Oh, right, should I put the Sourceblood I collected from the Purgatory Planet here too?”

After killing the evil spirit summoned from the magic book, the evil spirit turned into a pool of dead Sourceblood. Hao Ren gave it to Raven as a sample. But after the super-sized Vivian on the Purgatory Planet was killed, she turned into a pile of blood-colored crystals. The evil spirit's main body in the center of the seal was completely absorbed, leaving no remains. Hao Ren didn't know what kind of sample to collect, so he simply took some of the crystal stones that the Demon God Vivian dropped and the Sourceblood near the giant organs to hand in. He had already given these samples to Raven 12345 a few days ago, but he didn't see a crystal container corresponding to the Demon God Vivian here.

“Those samples are just ordinary Sourceblood,” Raven 12345 said, shaking her head. “The first split body seems to be special. She didn't leave any remains of her own. That should be a pure spiritual body, or she completely merged and mutated with the eldest son of the Purgatory Planet in ten thousand years. But anyway, I already have more than twenty samples here, so missing one doesn't make much difference.”

“By the way, where did you collect all these split bodies from?” Hao Ren asked curiously. “Vivian should have split several times when you came to this universe to fill in, right? Did you find them all?”

“Searched all over the world,” Raven 12345 rolled her eyes. “It was a lot of effort. Many evil spirits had already been sealed. I had to dig them out of every corner and seal them again. Once, I dug the wrong grave and dug out half of Vivian who was sleeping normally. I quickly filled it in and buried her—of course, you definitely don't remember, Vivian. I was very careful.”

Hao Ren had felt that Raven 12345's words had finally been serious for a whole time, but he didn't expect the topic to eventually turn to this strange direction. On the spot, he and Vivian were sweating layer upon layer, and Vivian's face began to switch screens like a revolving lantern…
