Xiao Hei disappeared in a black streak the moment the Demon Emperor’s son and the God Clan’s Empress arrived with a host of Ten Thousand Races kings.
"Damn it, Lin Lao Hei still got away."
"Guards, follow this Emperor’s son and pursue Lin Lao Hei."
The Demon Emperor’s son quickly summoned everyone to chase, then turned to the God Clan’s Empress. "Princess, would you care to join this Emperor’s son in pursuing the kings of the Human Alliance?"
The God Clan’s Empress said nothing but directly led her people in pursuit. After all, the Deep Sea Secret Realm and the Giant Demon Forest were vassals of their God Clan. If Lin Zhan led over ten kings to attack, the God Clan’s Empress would have to show some resolve to face her two vassal realms.
Seeing the God Clan’s Empress not paying him any mind but charging ahead with a large group, the Demon Emperor’s son muttered sheepishly:
"This tigress, isn't she afraid Lin Lao Hei will ambush her halfway and force her to marry that big monkey carrying the iron rod?"
Despite his words, the Demon Emperor’s son still followed with nearly 3,000 Demon Clan kings.
Lin Zhan, riding on Xiao Hei’s back, looked back. Nearly ten thousand kings of the Ten Thousand Races were in pursuit.
"Hei Zi, run a bit slower. Wait for that little woman from the God Clan. If we don't leave her a trail to follow, how will she chase us to death?"
Lin Zhan patted Xiao Hei’s big head and said.
"Understood, Boss. This is luring her in, so she'll fly into the fire like a moth, right?"
Xiao Hei said with a sly grin.
Seeing Xiao Hei’s speed slow down, the God Clan’s Empress frowned. Something unusual was afoot, especially with the Human Race’s Great Marshal Lin Lao Hei, whose reputation for foul play was notorious throughout the heavens. It wasn't out of the question for this brat to pull some rotten trick and ambush them halfway.
Indeed, just as the God Clan’s Empress had this thought, hundreds of crossbow bolts shot towards the kings behind her.
"Defend, the Human Race has an ambush!"
The God Clan’s Empress shouted. The accompanying kings of the Ten Thousand Races deployed their defensive measures, with the outer-most kings even raising heavy shields to block the crossbow bolts. However, the sturdy heavy shields were like paper in front of the arrows from the God Slaying Crossbows, instantly pierced and felling the kings behind them.
These kings from the Great Shang Ancestral Court Guard had also learned some bad habits from Lin Zhan. When attacking, they didn't target the strongest or the weakest. Instead, they focused on the mid-level kings of the Ten Thousand Races. Firstly, these mid-level kings were the most numerous, forming the backbone of the Ten Thousand Races’ allied army. Secondly, these individuals were far stronger than the early-stage kings and possessed a certain misplaced confidence, believing they didn’t need protection. They were typically the rash ones who charged ahead. Early-stage kings, knowing their weakness, were usually cautious. High-level and peak kings had cultivated for a long time and seen much. They knew the early bird catches the worm, and with those rash individuals shielding them, they were more than happy to let them take the brunt. After all, they weren't their children, and whose son died was of no concern. Furthermore, these seasoned veterans were powerful and each possessed one or two life-saving items. Thus, the Human Race kings were unwilling to waste their energy on them, preferring to kill a few more reckless individuals.
After firing three volleys of crossbow bolts, the Great Shang Guard didn't linger but turned to flee. By the time the kings of the Ten Thousand Races’ allied army reacted, they could only see the backs of their pursuers.
The Demon Emperor’s son, arriving later, looked at the over a thousand kings felled by the arrows and exchanged a glance with Xue Feng. Xue Feng examined the fallen kings of the Ten Thousand Races and said to the Demon Emperor’s son, "Cousin, those were the Great Shang’s God Slaying Crossbows."
The Demon Emperor’s son was taken aback. "God Slaying Crossbows? When did the Great Shang become so generous? To set up an ambush, they brought out hundreds of God Slaying Crossbows."
Xue Feng nodded in agreement. "Judging by the deaths among the allied kings, there must have been no less than 800 God Slaying Crossbows. Moreover, many were hit by two arrows, meaning the Great Shang fighters weren't precise snipers but engaged in rapid triple volleys into the crowd."
The Demon Emperor’s son nodded and circled the dead. "Good heavens, almost all of them were mid-level kings. Even the few high-level kings were hit by two arrows. I even saw a peak king of the Naga tribe hit by four arrows. When did these God Slaying Crossbows become so cheap? Could selling that Naga king even cover the cost of four of these crossbow bolts?"
Xue Feng sighed. "It appears the Great Shang group has a significant number of God Slaying Crossbows. Cousin, we need to be careful. The God Clan’s Empress has already led her people in pursuit; we should follow quickly."
The Demon Emperor’s son stood up. "Let that tigress scout ahead for now. Those killers from the Great Shang, under Lin Lao Hei’s influence, have started playing dirty. Who knows what else awaits us ahead? Don't forget, the Human Race brought over 8,000 Iron-Eating Beasts to participate in this war. The character of these pandas isn't much better than Lin Lao Hei’s. It's possible they're lurking somewhere ahead, waiting to ambush us."
About ten kilometers ahead, the little princess of the Immortal Clan, along with a host of Immortal Clan kings, had set up several killing formations, waiting for the arrival of the Ten Thousand Races’ allied army. Tie Ha’er and the young Taoist, who had been following Lin Zhan, were also hiding in a concealed spot three kilometers behind the killing formations. When the young Taoist and Tong Zi were mining lava rock, they had dug numerous hidden armories along the route, which the Immortal Clan had then concealed with illusion formations, preparing for ambushes. Hiding in this hidden armory with Tie Ha’er and the young Taoist were over 8,000 large, black and white heads.
"Little Aunt’s Husband, your hidden armories are brilliant! When the Ten Thousand Races’ allied army arrives, we'll catch them completely off guard."
The young Taoist looked at the imposing figures of these Iron-Eating Beast Kings and exclaimed, "Alas, Tong Zi really had foresight. These aren't just hidden armories; they're practically underground cities. If the space were any smaller, it couldn't fit all of you big guys."
"Ha’er, tell the soldiers to guard the entrances. When Miss Xian’er gives the signal, we'll charge out."
The young Taoist turned to Tie Ha’er.
"Don't worry, Little Aunt’s Husband. If you talk about our usual demeanor, our soldiers have none at all. But when it comes to combat readiness, every single one of them is top-notch. No questions asked; they live by fighting and acting cute, their ancestral skills won't be lost."
Tie Ha’er promised with a serious expression.
The young Taoist looked at Tie Ha’er, somewhat bewildered: I only said one sentence, why are you spewing all this nonsense? Do you think you're cultured?
