Chapter 18 Mistake

Beside the console in the lightning, Xier watched the nebula outside, and a flicker of emotion finally appeared on her solemn face, because she knew Le Kan had arrived, and she would finally meet the person in her dreams.

My respected King, I will finally meet you, and this time I will never let you disappear from my sight again.

Xier clenched her fists tightly and turned to her teammates, saying to them for the first time, "You did well this time." It was just a little slower than expected.

"Yes."

"Yes."

"Yes."

The insects on the opposite side knelt on the ground in unison. They showed no happiness at the praise from their superiors, as if the praise was not directed at them. However, upon closer inspection, their eyes were still filled with fervent enthusiasm.

Because they were about to see the King, they were so happy.

Rila walked quickly to Xier's side and tilted her head, gently saying to Xier, "We're about to see the King, Commander."

Xier nodded at Rila and turned back to look at the nebula outside.

Rila quietly guarded her side.

Meanwhile, on the other side.

"Elfa, be careful, it's heading your way." A dark figure flashed past Lin Hao, running ahead of him. Lin Hao struggled to catch up from behind and shouted at Elfa in front of him.

Elfa, on the other hand, was not as anxious as Lin Hao. He walked at a leisurely pace, and his perfect body proportions, even in the forest, could not hide his innate noble aura.

Elfa vanished from Lin Hao's sight in an instant. When Lin Hao looked around for Elfa's figure, he saw Elfa appear in front of him, his clothes unstained, and even his hairstyle was perfect. In his hand, he held a black chicken, and a strange equation suddenly appeared in his mind.

Air Force Commander = Elfa + Chicken

Hahahaha, Lin Hao laughed out loud when he thought of this. He clutched his stomach, while Elfa quietly watched the boy in front of him laugh, placing him in his shadow to shield him from the sun.

"How did you catch it?" I'm so annoyed! In the past, I could catch a black chicken like this in an instant, but now I'm just a noob. I get out of breath just running. When will I be able to return to my peak strength?

Lin Hao looked down at his thin arms and legs, and his awkward skin tone, so pale it looked like it had been plastered with several layers of putty. He pinched himself; it felt so soft it could almost exude water. This feminine body, when would he be able to escape it?

Elfa said nothing and looked down at Lin Hao.

"Why are you so quiet?" Has his cold and aloof commander returned?

"King, what do I do with this?" Elfa did not answer Lin Hao's question, but instead held the black chicken in his hand to Lin Hao's eyes and asked.

Lin Hao looked at the chicken in Elfa's hand, his mind contemplating how to cook it to make it delicious. He couldn't just roast it again; he had eaten too many roasted things these past few days and wanted to try a different method.

"Elfa, can I use your Star Net?" It should still be called Star Net, right? It's been over ten years, and I wonder if it's been upgraded.

Elfa opened his personal storage space, retrieved the dust-covered Star Net from the corner, and handed it to Lin Hao. Although he didn't know why the King wanted this old relic, he would still try his best to fulfill the King's needs.

Lin Hao looked at the familiar object in front of him and felt a surge of emotion, almost shedding tears. After all, during high school, no electronic devices were allowed. Even after he joined the army, the strict military management left him with no time to use such things. And then, there was nothing more, because he had died.

He carefully fiddled with the small black box in front of him. Although it was slightly damaged, its performance was still acceptable. He impatiently pressed the power button, and a white screen appeared before Lin Hao.

He clicked on the Nebula Net, entered what he was looking for, and within a second, various recipes for black chicken appeared. However, the recipes looked a bit difficult, as there was nothing available in this place.

Elfa seemed to understand Lin Hao's intentions. He searched his personal storage space for a white square and handed it to him, saying, "This is its upgraded version, and its performance will be better."

Lin Hao looked at the second generation device and shook his head, saying, "I've found what I need. You can keep that one."

He didn't need that one at all. It looked difficult to use, and the old relic in his hand was much better.

Seeing the King's insistence, Elfa threw the second-generation device back into his storage space.

"Let's go back," Lin Hao said to Elfa, then walked towards Huahua, intending to climb onto it.

The giant Huahua gently bent down and used its pincers to lift Lin Hao onto its head.

Lin Hao turned his head and saw Elfa and the rest of the troop following behind Huahua. He instantly felt that if this entourage were to appear on the street, the回头率 (turnaround rate) would definitely be 100%, as not everyone could see such a handsome Air Force Commander.

A gentle breeze rustled the leaves, creating a soughing sound. The emerald green leaves were a feast for the eyes. Lin Hao looked at the sunlight through the leaves, enjoying the tranquility, lying on Huahua's head and listening to the sound of the wind around him.

Huahua sensed Lin Hao's actions and wrapped its antennae around him to prevent the King from falling off. It also slowed down its pace towards the cave.

"Elfa, why are you here?" Lin Hao rolled over and lay on Huahua's body, looking down at Elfa and asking.

"Because the King's scent is here." So I appeared here. Indeed, there was an egg in this cave, and I have been waiting for your birth, Elfa silently added in his heart.

Is it that magical?

Lin Hao thought in surprise. Indeed, the connection between the insectoids was unparalleled. They could smell each other across such a vast distance.

"Then when did you arrive?" How long have you been waiting?

"A year after the previous King fell." A trace of sadness flickered across Elfa's face as he answered Lin Hao's question.

So long?

Lin Hao's eyes widened instantly. Waiting for so long, was it worth it?

Lin Hao couldn't bring himself to ask this question, as he felt he had no right to. It was because of his actions that this disaster had occurred. What wrong had they committed?

"I'm sorry." Tears like tiny beads streamed from Lin Hao's eyes. If it weren't for him, they wouldn't be suffering so much. If it weren't for him, they would still be living their quiet lives. All of this was his fault.

Back then, he shouldn't have taken on that mission.

Elfa looked up and saw the King crying. His heart ached as if struck by a hammer. He jumped onto Huahua's back and gently wiped away the tears Lin Hao had shed, saying, "You don't have to say sorry." It was he who should apologize, for not protecting the King properly, which led to what happened.

Lin Hao shook his head, tears flowing uncontrollably. No, it was all his fault.

Why were they treating him so well? He was clearly the culprit who caused all of this.
