Shen Xiaoyan was making breakfast, in a very good mood, humming a song in a low voice. Hami Melon and Red Fuji, the two dogs, lay by her feet. Every time she moved, the two dogs would obediently get up and shift their positions.
These three years, the two dogs had eaten very well, so they looked plump. Especially Little Red Fuji, with his Teddy appearance, was prone to looking fat. His current appearance made people easily doubt if he was indeed a Teddy.
"Mommy, Mommy!" A sweet little voice came from outside. Shen Xiaoyan turned her head and saw her precious, dressed in a little beige dress, standing outside.
The little girl was now 2 years and 4 months old, walking and talking very smoothly. Her features were gradually developing. It had to be said, the child's appearance took more after Zheng Wei, with fair skin, clear eyes, a straight nose... Oh, and soft long hair. She was peeking through the door of the independent kitchen, her chubby little hands rubbing her eyes, clearly just waking up.
"Who brought you here?" Shen Xiaoyan asked.
The child toddled towards Shen Xiaoyan, reached out to hug her legs, and said coquettishly, "It was Granny Wu. Wu Nai helped me put on my clothes. Mommy, do I look pretty today?"
Shen Xiaoyan nodded, "You look beautiful."
"Precious, did you see Daddy when you came down?" Shen Xiaoyan found it strange. She had thought her daughter was brought down by Zheng Wei, but judging by his appearance, Zheng Wei seemed to still be asleep.
She had been exhausted last night. Shouldn't he be refreshed now?
"Daddy must still be sleeping in. I'm going to see Daddy." Hearing that they were looking for Daddy, the child's spirits lifted. She turned and ran out, her little legs pattering upstairs. However, her short legs weren't that agile, and the stairs were still a bit high for her.
As soon as Aunt Na saw the child about to go upstairs, she quickly stepped forward and picked her up.
"Granny Wu can't talk. I'm going to see Daddy." After Aunt Na helped push open the master bedroom door, the child's small body darted in. Aunt Na quickly closed the door. These two troublemakers together were no joke; it would be good if they didn't demolish the house.
Once inside the master bedroom, the little radish head toddled towards the bed. The bed was still a bit high, and she couldn't climb up. But the Daddy on the bed didn't seem to be waking up.
Seeing this, the child tilted her big head, thought for a moment, and then ran towards the quilt at the foot of the bed. The quilt at the foot of the bed was hanging down. The child reached out and grabbed it. Unfortunately, Zheng Wei's quilt was very casually draped, so when the child hung on the quilt, it was quickly pulled down by the force of her weight. Then, with a *bang*, the child fell to the floor.
Zheng Wei, still in his dream, heard the child's wails. His little daughter, so well-behaved when she was first born, seemed to have a hidden talent for crying as she grew older. It wasn't that she liked to cry, but rather... once she started crying, it took a long time for her to stop. She could cry for a long time.
Therefore, when the child had been crying in his room for two minutes, Zheng Wei was jolted awake from his dream.
Zheng Wei was sure he wasn't dreaming. Hearing the sweet little cry, his heart ached.
"Precious? Come to Daddy." Zheng Wei sat up in bed and said in a deep, resonant voice. He couldn't see where the child was at the moment, just hoping that his call would bring his darling daughter out.
"Wuwu, Daddy, my butt hurts." The child's sweet little cry from the foot of the bed grew louder and louder.
Zheng Wei got up, got out of bed, and saw his little daughter sitting on the carpet at the foot of the bed, tangled in the quilt. Seeing him approach, she pouted aggrievedly and then stretched out her chubby little arms to him.
"Come, Daddy will hug you." Zheng Wei's heart ached when he saw his daughter's red eyes. He reached out and picked her up, asking in a gentle voice, "Precious, why did you come to find Daddy? Did Mommy send you? How did you fall?"
"I wanted to come find Daddy. Daddy was sleeping in, the sun was already on his butt." The child said aggrievedly.
"It's Daddy's fault, Daddy was sleeping in." Zheng Wei sighed. He glanced at the time and felt a pang of frustration when he realized what time it was.
Why was he so late this morning? That was unusual. Could it really be that his kidneys were failing?
No matter how much he exerted himself before, he was always full of energy the next day. But why couldn't he get up today...
"Did Precious cry just now?" As Zheng Wei frowned, thinking about this, Shen Xiaoyan pushed open the door and walked in.
"Mommy?" The child called out sweetly and extended her arms towards Shen Xiaoyan.
Shen Xiaoyan reached out and took her daughter, but quickly put her down on the ground.
The disfavored child: "Mommy?"
"Mommy got oil splattered on her. I'm coming up to change. Aunt Wu is going to walk the dogs. Why don't you go with her to see Grandma and Grandpa first?" The child was truly skilled at acting. Her eyes were about to shed tears again. Shen Xiaoyan quickly pointed to the oil stain on her clothes and said to the child.
Upon hearing that she could go see Grandma and Grandpa, the child, with red eyes, turned back. Aunt Na was already waiting behind her and carefully picked her up.
"Red Fuji, Hami Melon, we're going for a walk." Held in Aunt Na's arms, the child wrapped one arm around Aunt Na's neck and called out to the two dogs squatting by the door of the independent kitchen.
Seeing that the child seemed to be in a stable mood and was leaving with Aunt Na, Shen Xiaoyan felt relieved.
Just as she was about to go into the room to change, she was suddenly pulled by Zheng Wei.
"What's wrong?" Shen Xiaoyan looked at the man, whose hair was still a bit messy, in surprise. She raised her foot and casually touched his hair, saying with a chuckle, "Why are you so late today? Look, your hair is all flattened."
As Shen Xiaoyan spoke, she tried to push Zheng Wei away to change, but the more she spoke, the more energized Zheng Wei became. He first locked the door, then pushed Shen Xiaoyan onto the bed, staring intently at her.
"What's wrong with you?" Shen Xiaoyan looked at him, puzzled. Was it morning grumpiness again? But his morning grumpiness wasn't usually this intense.
"Xiaoyan, why am I so late today?" Zheng Wei asked.
"Perhaps you were too tired last night?" Shen Xiaoyan replied, confused.
"Absolutely impossible." Zheng Wei shook his head. "If I was tired last night, you wouldn't have been so comfortable."
"What exactly do you want to say?" To prevent him from saying anything else, Shen Xiaoyan reached out and covered Zheng Wei's mouth.
"Could it be that my kidneys are failing?" Zheng Wei mumbled to himself, leaning on Shen Xiaoyan.
"You're overthinking it." Shen Xiaoyan didn't think he was."
