Li Langqing was about to go out when Liu Sandao called him to a halt.
"Nothing, what's wrong?"
Li Langqing said, standing still.
Bai Sixiang followed Liu Sandao's gaze to Li Langqing, a trickle of snot running from his nostrils.
Seemingly aware of their awkward gaze, Li Langqing hastily wiped his nose with a tissue from his pocket.
"You have a cold? Doctors should also rest!"
"Heh, indeed. I was fine yesterday, and today I have a runny nose. Maybe I caught a chill last night. It's nothing, nothing!"
Li Langqing said.
He was a doctor himself, and apart from the runny nose, he had no other serious symptoms, so he didn't take it seriously.
"No, no, something feels off!"
Liu Sandao said, staring intently at Li Langqing.
"Hey, what are you doing? He's a doctor, if you were capable, would we still need to go to the hospital?"
Bai Sixiang finally found an opportunity to scold Liu Sandao, pouring out her pent-up resentment.
"Your condition doesn't look like it's only been a day or two. Has the flu been particularly bad lately?"
Liu Sandao noticed that the whites of Li Langqing's eyes were problematic, bloodshot, indicating lung issues.
"Cough! Cough!"
As he spoke, Li Langqing coughed softly twice.
"Alas, some illnesses shouldn't be spoken of, they get worse when you mention them, haha!"
To ease the awkwardness, he quipped, "Alright, alright, you take care of the patient first. If you have any problems, come find me anytime!"
With that, he left the ward.
"How did you know something was wrong with him? This is a hospital, full of flu patients! Making such a fuss over a cold?"
Bai Sixiang made small talk with Liu Sandao.
Liu Sandao didn't argue; he wasn't very familiar with human affairs.
It was just his intuition that told him Li Langqing's health was not good.
The hospital bed was equipped with a thermos. Liu Sandao took the thermos to get hot water.
In the corridor, he saw a little boy, much like Li Langqing, with a runny nose.
He had an indescribable premonition. He immediately released his divine sense to scan the boy and found that he indeed had a problem.
After placing the thermos back in the ward, he turned and went to Li Langqing's office.
During the noon break, the doctor's office was usually empty, but Li Langqing was still busy with something in his office.
"Knock, knock, knock!"
"Come in! It's you, come in and sit. Would you like some water? There are cups over there, pour yourself!"
Li Langqing called out.
"How long have you had these symptoms?"
Liu Sandao asked directly.
"Hmm? Why do you ask?"
Li Langqing didn't answer, retorting with a question.
"I feel the situation is not right, it doesn't seem like a common cold, so I'm asking."
Liu Sandao stated frankly.
"Ah, let me think! Yesterday, the day before yesterday, oh, the day before that, we admitted a patient. Besides arranging surgery, he seemed to have cold symptoms!"
"But I also found patients with similar symptoms to yours in the corridor, a child."
"Really? It might be the flu, not necessarily!"
"No, it can't be!"
"Why are you so sure? What makes you feel something is wrong?" Li Langqing asked calmly, though he didn't understand Liu Sandao's meaning.
"Ask about the previous patient, see how they are doing?"
Liu Sandao suggested.
"Alright, I'll ask!"
Li Langqing said, pulling out his phone and making a call.
"Xiao Cai, the patient we admitted the day before yesterday, the one who was supposed to have lumbar surgery, how are they?"
"Ah, the surgery might not be able to be arranged. He has a severe cold, which seems to be affecting his breathing! Two nurses have also caught a cold!"
A colleague's voice came from the phone.
Li Langqing's heart suddenly leaped into his throat.
Normally, hospitals had many ways to treat the flu, and it shouldn't affect breathing, let alone cause difficulty breathing.
Most importantly, with himself included, four or five people had abnormal symptoms. This might not be a common cold!
"No, I need to report this to the leadership immediately! You should go buy a mask and wear it to avoid getting infected with the flu."
Li Langqing hung up the phone, had a brief exchange with Liu Sandao, and left.
What needed to be done was done. Liu Sandao returned to the ward.
Guo Xiufang had already arrived and was with Bai Sixiang, taking care of Bai Fuchi.
"Where did you go?"
Bai Sixiang asked.
"Nowhere, just went for a walk. Here, put these on!"
Liu Sandao answered casually, handing Bai Sixiang the masks he had bought from the outpatient department. He continued:
"Dr. Li instructed that the flu is quite serious in the hospital these days, so we should all wear masks to avoid infection."
Bai Sixiang took the masks and gave them to Bai Fuchi and Guo Xiufang respectively.
However, only Bai Fuchi put one on. Guo Xiufang and Bai Sixiang put their masks in their pockets.
In the hospital, apart from infusion times, there wasn't much to do most of the time.
Going for a walk was perfectly normal.
The entire afternoon passed uneventfully.
The doctors in the hospital were busy, and only the wards seemed a bit quieter.
Bai Sixiang and Guo Xiufang agreed: Bai Sixiang would stay overnight in the hospital, and Guo Xiufang would come during the day.
Liu Sandao, being alone, had nothing else to do and stayed until the hospital's designated rest time.
Just as he was about to leave, Bai Sixiang received a message.
It was from Li Langqing:
Colleagues in the respiratory department have informed us that it might be a virus. We are conducting strain typing. It is contagious. Please wear masks properly...
"Look, look!"
Bai Sixiang exclaimed, showing the message to Liu Sandao.
Indeed, this information was very important.
Just as he had predicted, it was not a simple cold.
Through Bai Sixiang's description, it was said that similar situations had occurred before, which, in human terms, was called a plague.
Liu Sandao instantly understood. This was likely another plague.
After reminding Bai Sixiang to wear her mask and take care of herself, Liu Sandao returned to the hotel with his mind preoccupied.
Before he could turn off the lights, Fu Ruhai arrived.
"Why are you here?"
Liu Sandao asked.
"I'm here, of course, for an important matter. I'm not as free as you, able to go wherever you please!"
Fu Ruhai replied cheerfully, his words tinged with resentment.
"What important matter?"
"Someone leaked that a certain party is preparing to cause trouble here. I rushed here to see if I could stop them!"
Fu Ruhai stated the purpose of his visit.
This was his mission, but to prevent the arrival of that party, he needed help, and Liu Sandao was the perfect candidate.
As Fu Ruhai spoke, Liu Sandao immediately connected the events at the hospital with the arrival of that party.
