Chapter 144 A Little Gloom

Liu Sandao finished speaking, then grabbed his bags and left first.

Bai Suxiang could only follow behind. She didn't understand; the evidence hadn't been collected, and now she couldn't even have a decent meal.

She had intended to use the opportunity of following him to go shopping and eat with Liu Sandao. This way, the evidence would be gathered, and her goal would be achieved. Who would have thought her sweet dream would end so quickly? She was truly unwilling.

Getting into the car, Bai Suxiang didn't say another word.

Liu Sandao saw through her thoughts and didn't immediately reveal the truth.

Now wasn't the time to talk. If Zhao reacted, they would be in trouble.

Bai Suxiang didn't care how the car started or if the dashboard showed any changes. She just listlessly gazed out the window.

Liu Sandao felt a bit unaccustomed. This was how women got angry.

With Bai Suxiang remaining silent, Liu Sandao didn't know where to drive.

They couldn't go to the company; it was too late. They couldn't go to her home, and certainly not to his dormitory.

After some thought, he turned the steering wheel towards Guazijiang Park.

A night like this wasn't actually bad.

"Get out! Let's eat here!"

As soon as the car arrived, Liu Sandao said. He quickly got out and, like a gentleman, opened the car door for Bai Suxiang.

Seeing his attentiveness, Bai Suxiang let out a long sigh, and the gloom on her face instantly vanished.

After getting out of the car, optimism returned to her face. She encouraged herself inwardly.

"Forget it, I'll try again next time!"

Liu Sandao didn't say anything but instead found a spot to lay out the food.

"Why didn't we finish eating at a restaurant and then come here?" Bai Suxiang asked.

Liu Sandao, anticipating her question, handed her chopsticks and said:

"Here, no one will disturb us!"

Not wanting to be disturbed, or "us"? Bai Suxiang's heart suddenly thought of something upon hearing this.

She didn't speak, seeming to be waiting. Perhaps something would happen tonight, and if it did, it wouldn't matter much even if the photos were gone.

But Liu Sandao didn't say anything else.

He began to open each food container and handed Bai Suxiang a small spoon.

Afterward, nothing happened except the sounds of eating and swallowing. Sudanshu.com

Aside from the yellow light illuminating their location and the occasional flicker of a silhouette in the distance, there was only the sound of the two of them slowly chewing and eating.

The thing Bai Suxiang had anticipated didn't happen, so she could only curse Liu Sandao in her heart: You're that wooden block destined to be single forever!

She had been a bit hungry, but instead, she tapped her chopsticks aimlessly and barely ate a few bites.

"What, you're not hungry?" Liu Sandao asked after they finished eating, noticing her demeanor.

His question, rather than helping, made Bai Suxiang even more annoyed.

"Why did you delete those photos? We worked so hard..."

"Oh, so that's why you can't eat!"

Liu Sandao understood the reason for Bai Suxiang's lack of appetite and reached out, saying, "Give me your phone!"

Bai Suxiang had no choice but to put down her lunchbox and hand him her phone.

She refused to believe it. Unless he was a celestial being who could perform illusions, he couldn't possibly pretend to delete photos in front of others without actually doing so.

"Unlock your phone!" Liu Sandao gestured for her to enter the password.

After Bai Suxiang entered it, Liu Sandao merely swiped randomly on the phone a few times, and the photos reappeared on the screen.

"You, you really didn't delete these photos?" Bai Suxiang asked incredulously.

"I did, in front of them, how could I not?" Liu Sandao retorted deliberately. "But, we can recover them from the deleted photos!"

Bai Suxiang suddenly understood.

This was no divine art; it was simply a built-in feature of the phone.

Most phones can delete useless photos or images, with them automatically being removed after a long time, or when new photos overwrite the old ones. If not deleted for too long, they could be restored from the recently deleted folder.

She had thought that after deletion, only a specialized agency could recover them, but such methods were clearly not feasible for ordinary people.

Liu Sandao had no intention of telling Bai Suxiang the real truth.

An illusion was just a basic minor spell. It required no effort to deceive mortals.

Even if these photos were genuinely deleted, he would still have ways to retrieve them.

"Hahaha, so that's how it is."

Bai Suxiang had been too anxious and had forgotten this detail.

Looking at it this way, Liu Sandao's desire to not be disturbed was simply to avoid Zhao and the others seeking retribution after they reacted.

"Alright, now we can eat properly!"

Bai Suxiang didn't know if she was hungry, but she started eating heartily.

She had obtained the photos, which could prove that Jia Shuqing and Wu Guozheng had private contact. As long as she handed this evidence to Jia Zhengqing, she believed he would know what to do.

...

In an office, Jia Zhengqing was sitting opposite Wu Guozheng, discussing something.

Liu Sandao, however, paid no attention to their conversation. He was more curious about what kind of dream Fuhai had projected to Jia Zhengqing.

"Dahai, can you tell me now what kind of dream you actually projected to Jia Zhengqing?"

Fuhai shook his head, not answering the question.

"You say a five-star person and a six-star person. Shouldn't the more stars one has, the better their character should be?" Liu Sandao asked, seemingly talkative at this moment.

"Who said that? No one has ever defined it that way." Fuhai immediately retorted.

"Logically, the blessings of a five-star person should definitely not be as abundant as a six-star person's, so their protection would also be less, right?"

"Yes, but what does that prove?" Fuhai had now become Liu Sandao's teacher in answering questions, yet he had nothing to answer with.

They had originally come to see how Jia Zhengqing would handle Jia Shuqing's affairs, but unexpectedly ended up discussing extraneous matters.

As if by chance, Na Qianlai also arrived.

He came to see how Wu Guozheng's matter was being handled, but was surprised to see Fuhai and Liu Sandao.

He chose not to reveal himself and instead hid quietly not far away.

The discussion between Fuhai and Liu Sandao about blessings caught his interest. So, there was a star ranking for people, and a six-star person had far more blessings than a five-star person.

Then, by choosing a person with a higher star rating, wouldn't he be able to obtain even more blessings?

Thinking of this, he became even more convinced that Wu Guozheng was a good choice.

From the conversation between Liu Sandao and Fuhai, he learned that a six-star person had nearly twice the blessings of a five-star person. By extension, seven-star and eight-star people would undoubtedly have even more blessings.

He was determined to obtain Wu Guozheng's blessings. Therefore, helping him overcome this hurdle was just the first of many challenges he had to face.
