To everyone's surprise, Chen Fan actually destroyed the entire Dong Sheng and Hong Xing organizations within a single afternoon. Even a leader would have taken a full day to accomplish such a task.
While destroying Dong Sheng and Hong Xing wasn't inherently terrifying, doing so in such a short timeframe was.
Due to his misinterpretation of the mission, Chen Fan's merits and rewards in District Thirteen were more than doubled.
From Chen Fan's mission file:
"Level Three Formal Employee."
He was directly promoted to:
"Level Three Department Leader."
Chen Fan's advancement was arguably the fastest among all the new recruits, and even the fastest in the entirety of District Thirteen.
News of this quickly reached the leaders of various districts, as well as Bai Lin and the Right Divine Hall.
Upon hearing about Chen Fan, Bai Lin fantasized about his figure as he resolved battles.
"Brother Chen Fan is just too, too amazing," Bai Lin mused.
However, the thought that Chen Fan still had to complete the mission for the Knights of the Undead dampened her joy.
After all, Bai Lin knew her ties to the Knights of the Undead were quite deep.
"I hope Chen Fan can spare the Knights of the Undead," Bai Lin thought to herself.
Seeing his rank directly elevated to Department Leader, Chen Fan realized he had over-fulfilled the mission.
"Well, I should really read the mission briefs carefully from now on," Chen Fan said with a wry smile.
"I hope those people underground aren't too angry," Chen Fan glanced at his watch, feeling it was still early, and decided to find a place to eat.
If the members of Dong Sheng and Hong Xing knew that Chen Fan had annihilated them simply because he hadn't read the mission report properly, their reaction was unknown. Of course, they wouldn't dare to confront Chen Fan directly, but they would likely retaliate against the residents of the district that had paid for the mission.
The leaders and others were also shocked by Chen Fan's rapid promotion and the sheer volume of his completed tasks.
They all lamented that Chen Fan might just be the next master of District Seven.
They also began to prepare themselves to recruit Chen Fan into their own ranks, as there were indeed rivalries among the leaders.
News also quickly reached the Right Divine Hall.
"This Chen Tianjiao is quite interesting. To complete such a high volume of tasks in such a short time, just as the King said, the younger generation's strength is immeasurable! We truly are getting old, only able to stand behind these youngsters and provide them with a shield," the Right Divine Hall mused. Unbeknownst to him, Chen Fan might one day bring about the downfall of District Thirteen.
Meanwhile, Chen Fan had already arrived at the commercial street of the Red Sun Nation.
Unlike the luxurious commercial streets of the previous Red Sun Nation's central city,
this area's commercial district, while not deserted, was far from bustling.
Chen Fan looked around and spotted a small storefront advertising a famous Red Sun Nation snack.
He walked in.
"Boss, one tonkotsu ramen and the signature sushi."
Soon, the shop owner prepared the food Chen Fan ordered and brought it to him.
"Thank you."
Chen Fan looked up.
The shop owner was an old woman with graying temples.
"Old lady, how long have you been doing this?"
Distracted, Chen Fan saw the old woman and was reminded of Huaxia, speaking in the Huaxia language.
After speaking, Chen Fan realized he might have spoken in Huaxia and quickly corrected himself, repeating the question in the Red Sun Nation's language.
Upon hearing Chen Fan speak in Huaxia, the old woman's eyes changed, and tears welled up in her eyes.
Seeing this, Chen Fan quickly asked, "Old lady, what's wrong?"
Tears still in her eyes, the old woman looked at Chen Fan.
Chen Fan, unsure of what he had done wrong, thought he had offended her and hastily apologized.
"I'm sorry, old lady. Perhaps I've said something that upset you, but please don't be sad. I deeply apologize for it."
However, hearing Chen Fan speak, the old woman quickly shook her head and replied,
"No, it's just that I haven't heard my hometown dialect in a very long time."
It was then that Chen Fan realized his earlier Huaxia words had made the old woman miss her homeland.
"Old lady, are you from Huaxia?" Chen Fan immediately asked in Huaxia.
Hearing Chen Fan's question, the old woman quickly nodded.
"Young man, thank you for letting me hear Huaxia spoken here again. I am finally content!" The old woman wiped the tears from her eyes and said to Chen Fan.
Chen Fan then quickly helped the old woman to sit beside him.
"Old lady, China's industries are so developed now, why don't you return to Huaxia?"
"Most of my relatives in Huaxia have passed away, and my children have all taken root in the Red Sun Nation. So, I never thought about returning to Huaxia," the old woman sighed.
"Then, old lady, have you really not met any Chinese people in the Red Sun Nation for so long? With tourism being so developed now, don't Chinese people come here to visit?" Chen Fan continued to ask.
The old woman sighed in response, "This place can't compare to the big cities of the Red Sun Nation. If you really compare it, this is just a commercial street in a small county town of Huaxia."
