Chapter 378: Chapter 378: Attempted Murder
Listening to Evelyn Clayton’s confident words, Franklin Ford chuckled, "But you can rest assured, with me and my sister here, Matthew Sullivan doesn’t dare do much."
Evelyn Clayton didn’t reply to this, only thanked Franklin Ford for his concern.
However, after hanging up the phone, the smile on Franklin Ford’s face quickly disappeared.
He rubbed the phone in his hand, contemplating for a long time.
Matthew Sullivan’s appearance this time was too strange, and his behavior was too odd, not to mention Harrison Grant inexplicably bailing him out...
Franklin Ford had a feeling that there was a hidden hand pushing everything from behind.
Thinking of this, Franklin Ford composed himself, stood up, took the elevator, and reached Summer Monroe’s office one floor above.
Several secretaries in the president’s office were leaving work together. Seeing him coming, they all greeted him, their expressions somewhat awkward.
Franklin Ford’s expression remained unchanged as he headed straight to the door of the president’s office, raising his hand to push the door open.
"Director Ford!"
Someone called out to him.
Franklin Ford turned back, seeing that it was Summer Monroe’s chief secretary.
The young woman cautiously asked, "Director Ford, do you have any business?"
"I’m looking for Director Monroe." Franklin Ford’s tone was almost icy, "I have urgent questions for her."
The chief secretary immediately looked a bit embarrassed, put down her bag, and stepped forward, smiling apologetically, "Well, I’ll inform Director Monroe first, she’s discussing matters with Foster."
Franklin Ford slightly raised his eyebrows, noncommittal, with a hint of sarcasm in his eyes.
The chief secretary chuckled dryly twice, turned around, and entered the secretary’s office.
The secretary’s office was connected to Summer Monroe’s office to prevent any late notifications of matters.
Franklin Ford was left waiting, unfazed, calmly awaiting Summer Monroe to "finish her business."
In a short while, the chief secretary came out, cleared her throat, and said, "Director Ford, Director Monroe says you may go in."
The chief secretary opened the door, and Franklin Ford went straight in, seeing Summer Monroe sitting behind the desk, with Soren Foster standing at the side.
Franklin Ford ignored the indescribable amorous atmosphere in the air, as well as Summer Monroe’s radiant face and Soren Foster’s open collar.
He had encountered such scenes eight out of ten times already, long used to it.
Franklin Ford sat down directly across from Summer Monroe, leisurely observing her, getting straight to the point, "Matthew Sullivan has been bailed out."
Summer Monroe, clearly still caught up in the earlier chaos, took a long moment before letting out a sneer, "Who is Matthew Sullivan, and what does he have to do with me?"
Her expression was so natural, it made Franklin Ford feel skeptical.
When did Summer Monroe become such a good actress?
But there was also a possibility... Matthew Sullivan had no collusion with Summer Monroe.
"You don’t know Matthew Sullivan?" Franklin Ford decided to probe further, "Don’t joke, sister-in-law, aren’t you like Matthew Sullivan, eager for Evelyn to disappear from this world?"
Summer Monroe seemed to finally get the hint, raised an eyebrow with a smile, arrogant and domineering.
"Oh, so Director Ford, you’re here to denounce me on behalf of your sweetheart?" Summer Monroe leaned back in her chair, posture arrogant, voice mocking, "I do know Matthew Sullivan, but besides attempted murder, what else can such a waste accomplish?"
Franklin Ford’s probing ended there.
He was already fairly certain that the person Matthew Sullivan was colluding with was not Summer Monroe.
Franklin Ford stood up to leave, dropping a light remark before he left.
"In a week, it’s my brother’s death anniversary. My sister will be returning to the ancestral home for the ceremony. Sister-in-law, please remember to attend on time."
Finished, Franklin Ford paused, glanced back at Soren Foster.
"At that time, Assistant Foster should also attend."
