Chapter 394: Chapter 394: A Private Conversation

Charles Yates was speechless with rage, unable to say anything for a long time.

The smile faded from Amelia Whitman’s face, leaving only coldness.

Lynn Yates always bore a resemblance to her, with sharp, cold eyes, and Amelia’s cold expression was even more intense.

She stared coldly at her eldest daughter, "Lynn, are you telling your father and me that you’re now in love with James Grant and don’t want to hurt him? What, didn’t you used to say not to have feelings for a man who has someone else in his heart? Now you want to compete with that woman surnamed Chi?"

Amelia paused, mocking, "Then I advise you to think it over. I don’t know if James Grant can change his mind, but I don’t want people outside to think my daughter is willingly disgracing herself!"

Lynn Yates’s eyes widened at Amelia’s words.

She was utterly disappointed, "Mom, is that what I am in your eyes? Everything I do is for a man, for the love of a man who doesn’t have me in his heart, is that it?"

Lynn Yates’s tone gradually rose, with a resounding conviction, "What kind of people are you, that you see your own daughter in such a way, right?"

Amelia, furious, stepped forward and gave Lynn Yates a slap.

Slap!

With a crisp, loud sound, Lynn Yates’s face turned to the side, quickly swelling and reddening.

Amelia pointed at her, her trembling fingertip showing her anger, "Is this how you talk to me?!"

Lynn Yates sneered disdainfully, "You have no ground to stand on, so now you’re talking about attitude, is that it?"

This remark completely enraged Charles Yates, and he roared, "You unfilial daughter, today I’ll teach you what it means to talk to your elders properly!"

As Charles Yates said this, he raised his cane, about to hit Lynn Yates.

"Dad, what are you doing?!"

Clara Yates, hearing the commotion from upstairs, hurriedly ran down and stood in front of Lynn Yates.

Charles Yates angrily said, "Get out of the way!"

Clara Yates smiled obsequiously, "Dad, don’t get angry; it’s not worth it to harm your health."

Saying this, Clara Yates glanced back at Lynn Yates.

Despite this, Lynn Yates stood coldly and resolutely in place, unmoved, with no fear on her face, staring at Charles Yates in what seemed like silent defiance.

Clara Yates looked at Lynn Yates with a complicated gaze, biting her lip.

After a long time, Clara Yates snapped at her, "Why are you just standing there? Apologize to Dad!"

However, Lynn Yates merely cast a disinterested glance at Clara Yates and turned to leave.

Charles Yates was so angry he felt the top of his head would explode, "Where are you going?! Come back here!"

"Dad, don’t get angry! I’ll go talk to her, I’ll scold her a bit!" Clara Yates quickly grabbed Charles Yates’s hand, chuckled awkwardly, and ran out.

Catching up to Lynn Yates, Clara Yates stopped in her tracks, standing there hesitantly watching her.

Hearing the sound, Lynn Yates also turned back, meeting her gaze steadily.

"What are you looking at?" Clara Yates coughed slightly, averting her eyes, "I’m not doing this for you, I’m doing it for James Grant."

After a moment of hesitation, Clara Yates lowered her voice, "Are Mom and Dad planning to harm James Grant?"

Her lips twitched, her cheek hurt badly, and Lynn Yates didn’t care how awkward her smile looked, "So if they’re going to harm James Grant, what do you want to do?"

"I don’t intend to do anything! I just..." Clara Yates seemed at a loss for what to do, finally stomping her foot in frustration, "Forget it, it’s unclear. You shouldn’t come home for the next couple of days until Dad calms down!"

Clara Yates turned and left.

Lynn Yates stood in place, watching her back for a long time before finally turning away.

Once in the car, Lynn Yates called James Grant.

Upon connection, Lynn Yates took a deep breath.

"Let’s meet tomorrow and have a private talk."
