Chapter 456: Chapter 456: Very Well
Within Harvestide Holdings, Keith Donovan came to the company early in the morning to find James Grant, but before he could enter, he received a call from Trevor Hawthorne.
"Did you see it?" Trevor’s voice was deep, "The latest news, about Evelyn Clayton."
Keith lowered his tone as well, walking to an empty elevator lobby, "Of course I saw it. I just got to Harvestide Holdings, about to tell James—"
"I advise you not to." Trevor suddenly interrupted Keith, "Last night, in the middle of the night, the stock market was turbulent, and an important software system under Harvestide Holdings was attacked. It’s likely to spread soon. If nothing unexpected happens, James Grant is busy with this right now, so leave Evelyn Clayton’s issue for later."
Keith widened his eyes, "What? How come I didn’t know about this?"
Trevor sighed helplessly, "I told you it was in the middle of the night. I collaborated with James on the development of this software before, so I definitely received the news early."
"Then, what if something really happens on Evelyn Clayton’s side?" Keith clicked his tongue, "It’s truly a troublesome time."
Trevor’s tone remained flat, "If anything happens to Evelyn Clayton, the Ford Family siblings will cover it. After all, they’re the legitimate partners."
Keith understood immediately.
After a moment of silence, Keith said, "Alright, I got it. I’ll try to keep it from him today, so he doesn’t get distracted."
Upon reaching James Grant’s office, he found no one there. After asking Quentin Hale, he learned that James went to the meeting room.
Keith waited in the office for a full two hours before finally seeing James Grant’s figure.
James appeared tired, but seeing his friend eased it a bit, "Why did you come over at this time?"
"I heard something happened here, so I came to check." Keith cleared his throat lightly, "How is it going?"
"Not a big deal, just some minor fluctuations in the stock price." James lowered his eyes slightly, a cold smile forming at the corner of his lips, "I think I already know who did it."
Keith couldn’t help but be curious, "Who?"
James raised an eyebrow, "I had the tech department trace the hacker’s IP address through the attack on the system, and Matthew Sullivan is currently the prime suspect."
"Damn!" Keith couldn’t help but curse, "Is he still jumping around? Why not just crush him, wouldn’t it be like crushing an ant?"
James’s expression was dark and brooding, "No rush. It’s easy to deal with him, but finding out who’s behind him takes some effort. I think Matthew Sullivan doesn’t have such great capability—"
Before he could finish, Quentin suddenly knocked and entered.
Keith tensed up, thinking Quentin was about to mention Evelyn Clayton.
Unexpectedly, Quentin looked grave, holding a tablet, and walked straight to James’s side, whispering, "Just received an anonymous email, sent directly to your work inbox. I opened it to find a recording."
Keith frowned, leaning over, "What recording?"
James didn’t hesitate, and played it right in front of Keith.
The sound of pouring rain emerged, seemingly transporting everyone back to last night’s wet and gloomy rainfall.
The voice inside slowly started speaking, as James’s face changed bit by bit.
"...I will make sure James Grant and Evelyn Clayton pay the price they deserve! As for you, you better not be an obstacle!"
Almost the moment the recording ended, Keith gritted his teeth and cursed, "It’s Matthew Sullivan! It must be him!"
James’s sharp, handsome features were filled with chill.
"Fine, very well."
