Gasp a mouthful of milk tea

Chapter 290: It’s on Fire

Chapter 290: Chapter 290: It’s on Fire

Inside the dessert shop.

Evelyn Clayton stirred the coffee in her cup, her expression solemn, while Yara Reagan across from her couldn’t help but sigh.

"Alright, Evelyn, don’t worry so much," Yara comforted her. "What does it matter if Matthew Sullivan is out? His reputation is in tatters now. With his father’s profit-driven nature, Matthew at the Grant Family is nothing but a waste. He’s not going to stir any waves anymore."

Evelyn’s long lashes drooped slightly, her thick, raven-like lashes trembling gently like a butterfly fluttering its wings.

She stayed silent, disagreeing with her friend’s words in her heart.

Matthew Sullivan is far from as simple as he appears on the surface.

If he has any tricks up his sleeve, besides herself, it would be James Grant caught in a fix.

Evelyn was deeply troubled.

But she didn’t want to voice it out and make Yara worry too, so she temporarily brushed off the gloom on her face and smiled.

Seeing this, Yara smiled too.

"That’s better! Smile more, don’t be so burdened. Our immediate priority is to stabilize the factory’s employees, properly finish this batch of work, and earn some money, that’s what’s important!"

Evelyn chuckled lightly, teasing her: "It’s rare to hear such serious words from you, you were just thinking about squabbling with the employees, have you seen the light now?"

"Stop mocking me!" Yara playfully chided.

Just then, the server from the dessert shop approached.

"Ladies, everything you’ve ordered is ready, there’s quite a lot, we can arrange a delivery person to send it to you for free!"

Yara was delighted to hear this: "That’s great."

Evelyn stood up to pay, giving the delivery address to the server.

Then, each carrying a few cans of milk tea coffee, she headed towards the factory with Yara.

Yet just as they approached the factory park entrance, they saw a security guard stumbling hastily from the factory direction, rushing into the security booth, and hurriedly pressing the tabletop phone.

"Hello, is this the fire department?!"

Evelyn and Yara heard this, their expressions changed dramatically, instinctively looking towards the factory direction.

There, a faint smoke was already rising, and the air carried the scent of burning.

Their faces were already slightly pale as they ran into the park, the security guard became even more alarmed at the sight of them.

"Director Clayton, Director Reagan, don’t go near—"

Evelyn and Yara couldn’t care about this, as they reached the factory entrance, their hearts almost stopped.

Inside the factory doors, there were flickering flames, the workers were chaotically gathered at the entrance, voices ringing noisily, some busy rushing in to fight the fire, some watching the spectacle, while others stayed away, acting indifferent.

Evelyn couldn’t worry about all that, her hands threw down the milk tea and coffee, pushing through the crowd ahead.

Someone shouted, "Director Clayton is here."

The crowd inexplicably became more crowded, Evelyn struggled greatly to get to the forefront.

Seeing the heat wave and flames bursting from the door, Evelyn grabbed the extinguisher at the entrance to rush in.

She was fiercely pulled back by Yara, who was sweating anxiously, shouting, "Are you out of your mind! The security has already dialed the fire department, don’t be foolish!"

Evelyn’s eyes flickered red, scanning the chaotic employees group.

"Anyone who can find extinguishers, go look for them! Do your best to put out the fire!"

Some employees with a sense of responsibility rushed to find them.

Evelyn broke free from Yara’s hold, telling the workshop director to hold her: "Don’t let Director Reagan in!"

She charged directly into the flames.

Yara’s eyes were burning with fury, her voice cracking as she shouted.

"Evelyn Clayton!!!"
