Chapter 224: Chapter 224: Here to Cause Trouble?
Evelyn Clayton directly gave him a shot of reassurance: "You want the Ford Family’s position, I want to investigate Summer Monroe, each gets what they need. Cooperate once, it won’t hurt you."
After pondering for a while, Franklin Ford finally compromised.
Although the specific reasons were still unclear, toppling Summer Monroe was equivalent to opening the path for him to directly take the Ford Family’s position, so why not?
"Alright, I agree with you."
Seeing him agree, Evelyn Clayton also raised her brow: "Pleasure working with you."
"Take your time, Miss Clayton, I have something to do so I’ll leave first."
With that, Franklin Ford got up and left.
Watching his back, Evelyn Clayton curved her lips into a smile.
For the sake of the position, he really would stop at nothing. Her gamble was right.
"Evelyn Clayton."
Suddenly, someone called her from behind.
Turning around, Evelyn Clayton saw Jasper Grant behind her.
She smoothed the curve of her lips and a hint of suspicion rose in her eyes: "What are you doing here?"
It seemed she hadn’t seen him when she arrived. Could it be that he heard the whole transaction with Franklin Ford?
Jasper Grant sat down openly across from her, his gaze deliberately or inadvertently glancing in the direction Franklin Ford had left.
"I’ve been here all along, watched you talking with that man. Who is he?"
His expression was full of curiosity.
Evelyn Clayton assessed him nonchalantly, "The second young master of the Ford Family, Franklin Ford."
Upon hearing her words, Jasper Grant showed surprise: "You have a cooperation with the Ford Family?"
"Yes, given by Harrison Grant."
She spoke the truth, casting her eyes over Jasper Grant.
Upon hearing this, Jasper Grant seemed to be reminiscing: "I remember seeing the Grant Family’s contract with the Ford Family, the benefits seemed indeed unusual, too high. I asked my dad, and he wouldn’t say, just stated it’s a normal cooperation."
Listening to his words, Evelyn Clayton lowered her eyes and checked her watch.
It was time to go back.
She stood up directly.
"It’s about time, let’s head back to the office."
"I’ll drive you back, I just happen to be going back too."
Jasper Grant didn’t wait for her reply and directly took her bag and walked out.
Evelyn Clayton lightly frowned, watched his back, pursed her lips, and followed him.
The journey was silent.
Jasper Grant drove her to the office building.
As soon as she got out of the car, she ran into the well-dressed James Grant and Harrison Grant.
"Brother?"
Jasper Grant got out of the car and saw them.
Today, James Grant was particularly striking, dressed in formal attire, with a black suit and tie, less of his usual roguishness, more of an increasingly cold dignity.
Stern eyes and sharp eyebrows, deep features, exuding a sense of authority and oppression.
"Jasper’s back? Just as well Evelyn is here too, your big brother is getting engaged with the Yates Family today, let’s attend the party together."
Engagement party.
The words made Evelyn Clayton’s expression freeze for a moment.
But she quickly recovered, looking indifferently at James Grant.
"Sure."
Jasper Grant immediately responded: "Of course, I should go to big brother’s engagement party."
Harrison Grant laughed heartily and promptly took them along.
From beginning to end, James Grant didn’t say a word, his gaze deliberately or inadvertently fell on Evelyn Clayton, seemingly observing her reaction.
But she was too indifferent, showing no signs of emotion.
Evelyn Clayton averted her gaze and followed the group ahead.
The engagement party was set by the Yates Family at their hotel, The Cloudmist Hotel.
Upon arriving, the hotel staff greeted them with cheerful smiles and led them to a private room.
Cora Yates had just arrived and upon seeing Evelyn Clayton accompanying them, sneered disdainfully.
"Well, what are you doing at my Yates Family’s engagement party? What, feeling unconvinced, wanting to cause trouble?"
