Chapter 243: Chapter 243: When You’re Old, You Should Step Aside

"Move aside."

Evelyn Clayton’s eyes were cold. She shook off the receptionist’s hand trying to stop her and walked straight to the elevator, pressing the button for the sixth floor.

The moment the elevator doors closed, her gaze turned frosty and severe.

When she reached the sixth floor, she indeed saw Quentin Hale, and her footsteps hesitated for a moment.

Quentin Hale looked at her with difficulty. "I’m sorry, Miss Clayton, Director Grant is in a meeting. You should go back."

Evelyn Clayton, though slender, was blocked by Quentin Hale.

She didn’t care at all, pushed past him, and headed straight for the meeting room door.

Her lightly furrowed brow seemed to ponder, until it relaxed a few seconds later.

Outside the meeting room, under the gaze of everyone.

She lifted her foot and kicked the door open fiercely.

With a "bang," Quentin Hale behind her was utterly stunned.

Yet Evelyn Clayton walked in with an expression of indifference and fearlessness.

The situation in the meeting room was even more chaotic than outside, as a group of old directors were anxiously embroiled in a meeting.

Not to mention the door being suddenly kicked open, what they saw was someone embroiled in a scandal not long ago.

Having been in a meeting for hours, their already irritated minds were finally set ablaze.

"Miss Clayton! You dare kick the boardroom door! You have no limits!"

Evelyn Clayton ignored their agitation and walked straight to the person at the center of the meeting.

She lowered her voice, "Did you do this on purpose?"

Intentionally having someone block her, preventing her from entering the company.

James Grant pressed his head with both hands, then lowered one hand upon hearing her, raising his eyes to look at her.

His eyes were dark and indifferent. "Who let you in?"

Evelyn Clayton became angry, fury in her eyes. "James Grant!"

"Someone, take her outside."

"Who dares?!"

Evelyn Clayton shot a cold and piercing gaze across.

Quentin Hale stood awkwardly in place, wishing he could split himself in half.

The atmosphere was extraordinarily tense, just short of a spark to ignite an explosive confrontation.

James Grant was out of patience, looking down at her imposingly.

The overwhelming pressure made everyone else fall silent immediately.

"If you won’t leave, fine, then listen."

He gave her a quiet glance, then fixed his gaze on the board of directors below.

"Announcing something: starting today, Director Pierce is removed from office."

A wave of murmurs erupted below.

He intended to fire her!

Evelyn Clayton could no longer hold back, her anger erupting. "James Grant! I said I’m not leaving!"

"Director Grant, do you really want to dismiss Director Clayton?"

"With the director’s position suddenly vacant, who will lead the design department?"

"Yes, Director Grant, deciding so abruptly without finding a replacement for the director is truly inappropriate."

The directors voiced their opposition, but James Grant’s tone was as cold as ice. "Is my word not binding?"

With that one sentence, everyone shut their mouths.

Instead of speaking up for Evelyn Clayton, they might as well obediently listen to James Grant.

After all, provoking him was courting death; his madness was well-known.

"Unfilial son!"

A shout rang out at the door, and everyone turned to look.

Harrison Grant charged in with a face full of anger, glaring fiercely at James Grant.

"Who told you to dismiss Evelyn! Who gave you the authority!"

James Grant shot a cold, razor-sharp look, his tone indisputable. "None of your business."

"None of my business! If I don’t step in, Evelyn will be driven out of the Grant Family by you!"

Harrison Grant stood on Evelyn Clayton’s side, so furious his beard bristled.

The directors below didn’t dare make a sound.

James Grant’s bloodthirsty eyes bore evident fury.

"Harrison Grant, when you get old, you should step back."

Evelyn Clayton was shocked.

She couldn’t believe James Grant could say such a thing in front of his own father.
