Chapter 310: Chapter 310: Donating Blood Again
Evelyn Clayton and Yara Reagan had just arrived at the hotel and charged their dead phones when they received a call from Harrison Grant.
"Evelyn." Harrison’s tone was intimate, "What are you up to?"
Evelyn’s eyes showed mockery.
Indeed, he couldn’t hold it in any longer.
Evelyn pretended to be leisurely, "Just finished up with the exhibition things. Is Uncle Grant here to hear my good news?"
Harrison hesitated slightly on the other end, then his laughter sounded a bit forced.
"Ah, yes, yes! Did your exhibition go smoothly today?"
"Everything went well, and the auction results were good too. Really thanks to Director Ford and Yara’s help."
Evelyn pretended to be happy as she chatted idly with Harrison until he couldn’t hold back and called out: "Evelyn!"
"Hmm? Uncle Grant, what’s wrong?" Evelyn’s smile slowly faded, leaving only coldness and mockery.
Harrison coughed lightly, "Evelyn, you know about my health. I’ve been sick again these past few days and might need you to donate blood once more. Are you available? I’ll send someone over to collect it."
Evelyn coldly lifted her eyelids, hinting at a sneer from within her eyes, but her tone feigned urgency.
"Really, Uncle Grant? How did you get sick? I’ll go see you now! Just finished my work, so I can go check up on you. Once I’m sure you’re okay, I’ll donate blood."
Harrison immediately became tense, his voice sounding somewhat tight.
"No need, Evelyn! My issue isn’t serious, didn’t you just finish your exhibition? You can just rest, I’ll send someone over to collect the blood!"
Yara, listening to the content of the call, showed a disdainful look.
Evelyn sat down on the nearby sofa, silently gave a cold laugh, "That’s not possible, Uncle Grant. If you’re fine, why should I donate blood to you?"
At this point, the chill in Evelyn’s tone started to leak.
Harrison wasn’t a fool, after a moment of silence, his voice dropped slightly, "Evelyn, what do you mean?"
"Nothing." Evelyn couldn’t be bothered to keep up the pretense.
Her demeanor was determined, her tone indifferent, "Harrison Grant, I won’t give away my blood for free anymore. Oh no, I should say, I won’t give it for free to Summer Monroe."
After the terrifying silence, Harrison made a final struggle.
He suddenly laughed, "What are you talking about, child, what Summer Monroe, it’s all confusing me..."
"Really?" Evelyn sneered, "Harrison Grant, didn’t Heather Donovan tell you, I just returned from the hospital? Since you’re confused, I’m curious, how coincidentally Summer Monroe just had an accident and your call for my blood donation came?"
Harrison slightly gritted his teeth, "Evelyn, you’ve really misunderstood——"
"I’ve given so much to your Grant Family, to you already." Evelyn didn’t want to hear another word from him.
She only felt tired, saddened.
Being deceived for so long, giving blood for nothing, she was practically the most foolish person in the world!
"It’s not like that Evelyn, it’s really not what you think." Harrison’s somewhat hoarse voice carried a sense of old age.
He wisely pleaded, "Evelyn, please listen to me, I also have my difficulties..."
Evelyn put a definitive end, "Harrison Grant, stop pretending, no matter what you say, I won’t give you another chance to deceive me, nor will I forgive you."
Ending the call, Evelyn tossed her phone aside, closed her eyes in exhaustion.
Really so tired...
Just thinking about her blood all going to someone who’s everywhere against her, even set fire to her painstaking efforts and embarrassed her under everyone’s eyes, Evelyn felt pathetic and ridiculous.
"Evelyn..."
Beside her, Yara softly called her name, her tone filled with compassion.
Evelyn opened her eyes, faint red veins showed in her gaze.
The forced smile on her small face made Yara feel even more heartache.
She hugged Evelyn, comforting in a low voice.
"It’s okay, it’s all okay now."
