Chapter 300: Something Strange in the Food

Chapter 300: Chapter 300: Something Strange in the Food

"I’m hungry, I want to eat something!"

Iris Lockwood only dared to grumble inwardly, showing a shameless look as she sat at the dining table.

"I don’t like that suite, I’m not going back."

Evelyn Clayton was utterly exhausted, too lazy to argue any further, and went to bed to sleep.

"Whatever."

Iris Lockwood’s intention was to console Evelyn Clayton, but seeing her unwillingness to communicate, she didn’t know how to start.

She almost vented as she ate the dishes on the table, speaking unclearly.

"I’ve been boiling cabbage all the time to lose weight, I almost forgot what salt tastes like!"

Iris Lockwood gobbled down the food, pretending to mention casually during breaks, "Actually, it’s nothing. Without James Grant, I think Franklin Ford isn’t bad either, quite good."

Seeing Evelyn Clayton not responding, Iris Lockwood muttered to herself for a while, suddenly becoming a bit suspicious.

"Why does this dish taste weird? It seems a bit bitter?"

"Remember to drink coffee after eating to reduce swelling." Evelyn Clayton didn’t pay attention to the dish’s taste, closed her eyes forcing herself to rest, "Don’t make any more noise, I really need to sleep."

This was a tacit consent for Iris Lockwood to stay, Iris Lockwood pouted but had a hint of a smile in her eyes.

She slept until midnight when Evelyn Clayton was awakened by Iris Lockwood’s snoring.

She turned her head in confusion to see Iris Lockwood sleeping beside her without even taking off her clothes, with a little leg draped over her.

Evelyn Clayton was helpless and speechless, giving Iris Lockwood a push.

Her voice slightly hoarse, carrying a unique sensuality, "Stop sleeping, get up."

However, Iris Lockwood didn’t budge.

The leg draped over her remained steady.

Evelyn Clayton frowned slightly, looking at Iris Lockwood’s face.

She saw Iris Lockwood hadn’t even removed her makeup, and there was still some soup from the daytime food around her mouth.

Evelyn Clayton felt a strange sensation rise inside her, couldn’t resist patting Iris Lockwood’s face, "Iris Lockwood, Iris?"

No response still.

In a flash, the words Iris Lockwood said earlier during the day came to mind.

The dish tastes weird...

Evelyn Clayton suspiciously looked at the half-eaten meals on the table, her heart sinking bit by bit.

She took her phone and called Yara Reagan, her expression serious.

"Come over, something with a stimulating scent like an aromatherapy... even a medicated oil will do."

Yara Reagan arrived swiftly, appearing a bit travel-weary due to her busy schedule.

Upon entering, seeing Iris Lockwood sleeping deeply, Yara Reagan was surprised, "What happened here? Why do you need medicated oil?"

Evelyn Clayton didn’t explain much, only asked Yara Reagan to help lift Iris Lockwood’s upper body.

Then she took the medicated oil and applied some to Iris Lockwood’s temples and under her nose.

After a while, Iris Lockwood’s eyelashes finally fluttered and she slowly opened her eyes.

"I... goodness." Iris Lockwood’s eyes were distant and unfocused, "How long have I been sleeping?"

Evelyn Clayton frowned, avoiding the question, "How did you fall asleep?"

Iris Lockwood gradually woke from her dream, answering slowly, "I felt really sleepy after just a few bites, I seemed to fall asleep as soon as I lay on the bed."

Evelyn Clayton raised an eyebrow slightly, after a long time she managed a cold smile, looking at the leftover food on the table.

"Seems like I was right."

Yara Reagan was confused, "What kind of riddles are you two playing?"

With a cold smile, Evelyn Clayton’s eyes flashed with icy light, pointing at the dishes on the table.

"Those dishes have a problem, someone drugged them. If Iris Lockwood hadn’t eaten them, with my current exhaustion, I wouldn’t wake up until tomorrow’s exhibition."
