Chapter 340: Chapter 340: That’s the Homewrecker
Having fallen asleep randomly, Evelyn Clayton had a chaotic dream.
In the dream, there were scenes of Lynn Yates and James Grant announcing their engagement, and the look James gave her when his arm got injured while blocking an assailant that night.
She awoke suddenly from the dream to a bright morning.
Yara Reagan had already left, leaving breakfast and a note on the table, saying she had gone to the factory to discuss a new collaboration with the workshop manager.
Evelyn Clayton rubbed her slightly disheveled hair, quickly ate, and prepared to leave for the factory.
Her phone kept ringing incessantly along the way, but Evelyn didn’t manage to check it until she reached the factory entrance and noticed something was amiss.
There was a crowd gathered in front of the factory, men and women alike, all looking unfamiliar at first glance.
Evelyn Clayton furrowed her brows, parked the car nearby, and stepped out to see what was going on.
There was also a crowd around the security booth at the entrance. The security personnel inside saw her, and for some reason, had a somewhat panicked expression, shouting, "Director Clayton, don’t come over!"
This shout made everyone turn their heads to look at Evelyn Clayton.
Evelyn was bewildered by the scenario but in the next moment heard someone shout, "Evelyn Clayton is here!"
Only then did Evelyn realize that those people seemed to have faint expressions of anger, and some standing in front were rushing towards her with faces full of rage.
"It’s that homewrecker!"
"Hurry, catch her!!"
In the crowd, someone even threw something at Evelyn Clayton. She dodged it quickly and, upon a closer look, saw it was some rotten vegetable leaves.
Evelyn’s eyes suddenly turned sharp. She glanced at those who were rushing towards her, as if they wished they could swallow her alive, and without hesitation, turned back and got into her car.
But even so, she was almost caught by them, leaving a heavy scratch on her arm, blood-red and terrifying.
Her back was also hit by something, seemingly a rotten egg, which instantly emitted a nauseating stench.
Grinding her teeth, Evelyn got into the car and quickly locked the doors.
In just that moment, the people who were initially at the factory entrance had already rushed to the front of the car, pounding on her car door.
Evelyn’s breathing was erratic, gasping slightly, with a hint of crimson in her eyes.
Memories of harsh words from the night before last and praises in the video Yara showed her flashed before her eyes.
She bit her lip tightly, her chest filled with anger, indescribable confusion, and grievance.
With trembling hands, Evelyn forced herself to calm down, her beautiful face frosted with coldness.
Without hesitation, she dialed the emergency number.
"Hello, my name is Evelyn Clayton. I’ve been attacked by multiple people at the LY Factory on North Welcome Road!" Evelyn bit her teeth slightly, "Please send help quickly!"
Thanks to Evelyn’s calm report, the police promptly registered the case, advising Evelyn to keep herself safe, assuring that they would arrive soon.
Meanwhile, Yara Reagan and the workshop manager also led people out from the factory, managing to barely control the situation.
Evelyn drove her car straight into the factory, asking the security to close the gate before getting out of the car.
Upon seeing the egg residue on Evelyn and the scratches on her arms, Yara was furious, almost speechless with anger: "Are you stupid? Why didn’t you answer my calls or check my messages? I told you not to come over!"
As she spoke, her eyes reddened, filled with self-blame.
"It’s my fault, I should have accompanied you this morning."
