Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Sabotage

"I’m going to inspect the work."

James Grant watched her effortlessly twist off the bottle cap, frowning slightly but still advising, "The Lynch Family’s dealer is hard to deal with. Be careful not to fall into his verbal traps."

"I got it."

The Lynch Family’s contact was a middle-aged man who, upon seeing Evelyn Clayton and her team step out of the car, immediately sneered.

"Your company is supposed to be top-notch, but if you can’t give this big order the attention it deserves, I don’t see the point in continuing."

As he spoke, his entire demeanor reeked of familiar arrogance.

Evelyn Clayton’s gaze turned chilly: "Mr. Lawrence, do you have something against our studio?"

Issues with the goods were just their one-sided claim; logically, to determine which side was responsible, both parties needed to inspect and verify together to get results.

Yet the man before her tried hard to absolve himself, pinning the blame on the studio.

Is it really that easy?

Finn Lawrence choked on his words, and a nearby employee opened the door.

Piles of goods came into view, and Finn Lawrence regained his confidence, arrogantly pointing at the broken boxes piled on the side.

"Miss Clayton, it’s not that I have anything against you, it’s just the way it is! Look, these boxes are in terrible shape. I had the wood tested, and it turned out to be rotten wood soaked in water. If there’s a quality issue, is it our responsibility or yours?"

His voice got louder, glancing at the studio staff who came along, he loudly asked, "Who was in charge of the handover at that time?"

Iris Lockwood glanced at Evelyn Clayton, hesitating before stepping forward.

"It was me."

Finn Lawrence looked her up and down, his gaze fixating on Iris Lockwood’s face.

Evelyn Clayton felt his attitude was odd, just about to ask, when Finn Lawrence sneered, "Ha, entrusting such an important matter to someone like her, no wonder something went wrong!"

"What’s that supposed to mean, Mr. Lawrence?"

"Director Pierce, there’s no need to pretend," Finn Lawrence said disdainfully. "Someone caught up in an affair and romance with a third party doesn’t have the extra mind for work."

Iris Lockwood’s face turned pale.

Stepping forward to shield her, Evelyn Clayton’s face was heavy. "Mr. Lawrence, please be professional and don’t attack others using personal matters. Such a low move really makes me question your professionalism."

When strength was needed, strength was shown. James Grant, who arrived late, looked approving.

He stepped from behind the crowd to the front.

Upon seeing him, Finn Lawrence swallowed his harsh words circulating in his throat and instead began to question.

"Director Grant, as you can see, the damage to the crates is evident. The responsibility is clear. Or are you suggesting that your company plans to cover it up?"

Hoping to use his influence to pressure Evelyn Clayton?

James Grant saw through his intentions and slightly curled his lips.

"If the responsibility indeed lies with her, The Grant Group won’t cover it up. But if it’s with you, I might reconsider any future cooperation with The Lynch Family."

"Director Grant, you need to think carefully!"

Finn Lawrence found it hard to discern anything from James Grant’s face, and even with just a glance, he couldn’t control his unease.

With James Grant’s intervention, Evelyn Clayton’s work went much more smoothly.

Sampling, testing, waiting.

To expedite the test results and clear the "injustice," Iris Lockwood paid out of her pocket for a rush service.

Two hours later, the report was in Evelyn Clayton’s hands.

"Boxes 31, 78, and 91 were all deliberately damaged."
