Chapter 207: Where Have You Been

Chapter 207: Chapter 207: Where Have You Been

"So what if I investigated you! As the CEO of the company, you’re setting an example of absenteeism. Look at you, do you look like a CEO at all!"

On the surface, Harrison Grant seemed disappointed, but James Grant could clearly see what was really on his mind.

"Also, Summer Monroe said you cut her with a knife. Did that really happen?"

Upon hearing this, James Grant nonchalantly, with an air of indifference, toyed with the silver ring on his ring finger: "The hand slipped."

Harrison Grant was filled with doubts: "Really, just a slip of the hand?"

"What, do you think I would intentionally hurt her? She’s injured, why are you so nervous? Have you two done something you shouldn’t have?"

James Grant slightly raised his eyelids, shooting a sharp, investigative glance.

His gaze sent a fleeting panic into Harrison Grant’s heart, but he quickly assumed a stern demeanor, quietly warning: "I’m telling you, stay out of anything not related to the company, or get out of the Grant Family!"

Get out?

Hearing this, he lowered his head slightly, eyes downcast, and let out a low but chilling laugh.

The smile, however, was terrifying.

When he looked up again, coldness erupted from his eyes: "For me to leave the Grant Family, we’ll have to see if the Grant Family can survive until then."

With that, he stood up, casually hooked his suit jacket with a finger, and draped it lazily over his shoulder.

Then, without giving Harrison Grant another glance, no matter how angry he was, James Grant strode out of the Grant Family house.

Driving to Evelyn Clayton’s apartment, James Grant fiddled with his car keys.

Reaching the door, he heard Matthew Sullivan’s voice.

"Evelyn, you’re not well, you need more rest."

He paused with his hand midway to knock on the door.

With slightly cold eyes narrowed, James Grant pulled back his hand.

He turned, walked to the hallway, leaned against the wall, took out a cigarette, and lit it, lazily holding it between his lips as sparks flew.

Inside the room, Matthew Sullivan had brought a large batch of supplements, mostly for replenishing energy and blood.

He even personally cooked some goji berry porridge and fed it to Evelyn Clayton.

"Eat more, it’s good for replenishing energy and blood, and it’s good for your health."

Evelyn Clayton pursed her lips, looking at the spoon he offered, a flash of disdain in her eyes, but she gritted her teeth and ate it.

"Matthew Sullivan, if one day things go sour between me and Harrison Grant, who would you choose?"

Her question caused Matthew Sullivan’s hand, nearly offering porridge, to pause momentarily, a slight hesitation on his face, then he said: "That day won’t come, my dad’s so good to you, he wouldn’t let you feel wronged."

Ha.

She scoffed internally.

If she wasn’t being wronged, then secretly drawing her blood for someone else surely didn’t feel like wronging her?

"I’m already anemic; if Harrison Grant asks me to donate blood again, and I refuse, will he not resent me? After all, I didn’t prioritize his safety."

As she said this, Evelyn Clayton pretended to show some grievance and blame.

Matthew Sullivan picked up on it, his eyes darkening slightly, then reassured her with a look.

"Evelyn, don’t worry, if you’re really unwilling, I won’t let Dad force you, I’ll talk to him and find another blood donor."

After exchanging a few more words, Matthew Sullivan, determined to speak for her, got up and left the apartment.

James Grant watched Matthew Sullivan leave, flicked away the cigarette butt, stomped out the spark with his shoe, and strode over, blocking Evelyn Clayton’s attempt to close the door with one hand.

"When did you get here?"

Startled, Evelyn Clayton looked up, releasing her hold on the door.

Could it be that he was already here while Matthew Sullivan was?

James Grant pushed open the door with a large hand, sidestepped her, and walked straight in: "What, not welcome? Want to stay with your little lover uninterrupted, and I’m the interference?"
