Chapter 205: Chapter 205: A Premeditated Cut
"Director Grant, you called me here, surely not just for a piece of fruit?"
Summer Monroe couldn’t figure out the mysterious man before her, watching him skillfully peel the fruit.
"Director Monroe, no rush."
He didn’t look up, his gaze was fixed on his hands.
The exposed forearm was muscular, veins prominent.
Summer’s eyes unintentionally landed on his arm in the dim light.
James Grant had an excellent physique and was quite captivating too.
If she could win him over, not only would she have more control over The Grant Group, spending a lifetime with such a man wouldn’t be bad either.
Summer was lost in her thoughts, not noticing that he had paused his peeling action.
James Grant glanced at her sideways, then casually, holding the fruit knife, he straightened up and stretched lazily.
"Backache."
"Ah!"
As soon as he spoke, a scream erupted.
He accidentally cut Summer Monroe’s arm.
Summer immediately screamed in stabbing pain.
Seeing the blood on her arm, she was instantly panic-stricken, unable to conceal the terror on her face.
"Sorry, I’ll take you to the hospital."
James Grant reached out his hand, but Summer Monroe backed away in alarm.
She tried to cover it up, yet couldn’t hide the terror from within: "Director, Director Grant, I, I have something to do, I’m leaving first."
Summer spoke with noticeable fear, hurriedly covering her arm and quickly fled the room.
Just as she left, Evelyn Clayton walked into the room, her high heels clicking, her expression indifferent.
James Grant lazily got up, approached her as if seeking praise, slightly bent forward, the corners of his eyes lifted.
"Not going to praise me?"
"Enough with the nonsense, take the knife, and follow her."
Evelyn Clayton poured cold water over him and turned to leave.
James Grant chuckled helplessly a few times, took out a prepared bag, packed the blood-stained knife, and followed her out.
They drove all the way following Summer’s car.
Until Summer stopped at the entrance of the hospital.
Evelyn Clayton, wearing sunglasses, sat in the car watching Summer hastily escape into the hospital.
She opened the car door, just as James Grant got out, he raised an eyebrow at her.
Next, James Grant strode into the hospital, and Evelyn Clayton silently followed.
Summer entered the emergency room, and the two of them hid at the corner of the corridor outside, watching her being pushed into the emergency.
To their surprise, they saw Harrison Grant.
Harrison Grant was rushing to the emergency room, anxiously discussing something with the doctor.
In the corner, Evelyn Clayton coldly observed everything before her.
It seemed she no longer needed to investigate; she already knew the truth.
She clenched the bag with the blood-stained knife.
"Let’s go."
She said in a low voice, then headed to the hematology department with the bag to consult an expert for a personal examination.
An hour later, the examination results came out.
"The patient’s blood is extremely low in hemoprotein, with most red blood cells close to dying. If the skin is accidentally wounded, it can easily lead to massive bleeding. Have you brought the patient? Be sure to take care of the patient well, try to avoid injuries, which could lead to blood transfusion at best, or death from massive bleeding at worst."
The expert handed them the examination report.
Evelyn Clayton listened to the expert’s suggestions, feeling she fully grasped the situation.
No wonder Summer Monroe refused to go to the hospital no matter what when injured on the filming site previously and again when James Grant cut her arm today.
So, this was the truth.
In the emergency room.
Summer’s bleeding had stopped, but she still needed a large amount of blood for replenishment, otherwise, her blood condition would impair her entire bodily functions.
"Harrison Grant, let Evelyn Clayton come!"
