Chapter 183: You Have to Listen to Me

Chapter 183: Chapter 183: You Have to Listen to Me

After the shooting was over, Evelyn Clayton took the finished photos and went to James Grant’s office.

When she got to the door, she saw that Summer Monroe was also in the office.

"Knock, knock."

She knocked, then directly walked in without waiting for James Grant to speak, placing the photos in front of him.

"Pick one as the project template."

"Did I invite you in?"

James Grant lazily leaned against the back of his chair, his hands crossed under his chin, his eyes half-closed in a languid manner.

"The door was open. If you didn’t want me to come in, were you expecting a ghost?"

Evelyn Clayton looked down at him from a height, her words barbed.

She didn’t care; even if it was for show, there should be a limit!

Seeing the atmosphere was off, Summer Monroe changed the topic: "Director Grant, I heard from Grandpa Grant that you’re getting engaged to the Yates Family’s eldest daughter, Lynn Yates. I didn’t know that Lynn was your type."

"Mm."

He nodded lightly, but his gaze fell deliberately or inadvertently on Evelyn Clayton, his fingers rhythmically tapping the table.

Evelyn Clayton directly ignored his gaze, boldly pulled out a chair, and sat down next to Summer Monroe.

It was only when she got closer that she smelled a peculiar faint fragrance.

It didn’t smell like perfume and wasn’t pungent.

She had never smelled it before.

"Miss Monroe, after your last injury, did you use some medication? The smell on you doesn’t seem like perfume. By the way, has your injury healed?"

Her words caused the slight smile on Summer Monroe’s face to falter for a moment.

Summer Monroe shifted her gaze to James Grant, pulling a smile at the corner of her mouth, answering with something unrelated: "No need to worry. By the way, Director Grant, is your wedding date set? Make sure to send me an invitation."

James Grant nodded again, coldly and indifferently, without any emotion in his eyes.

"Mm."

Looking at Summer Monroe’s profile, Evelyn Clayton’s eyes were dark and unreadable.

She was clearly avoiding the topic of her injury on purpose, but why?

It seemed that Evelyn Clayton’s stare was too direct, prompting Summer Monroe to quickly change the subject.

"Miss Clayton, weren’t you here to discuss something with Director Grant?"

Evelyn Clayton realized then that she had come to talk business with James Grant.

"Right, pick the template so I can start designing the draft."

She nodded at James Grant with her chin.

James Grant shot her a glance, his gaze lazy, and began flipping through the photos one by one.

He didn’t look at them for a few seconds before flicking the photos back, his voice indifferent.

"None are good, reshoot them."

"James Grant, you’re doing this on purpose."

Evelyn Clayton’s face darkened, and she gritted her teeth.

She had scrutinized them for so long before showing them to James Grant.

But he dismissed them without even a second glance?!

"The Jacobs Family’s project—if you mess it up like this, how much can you afford to compensate?"

James Grant straightened up, his elbows resting on the table, his eyes indifferent, but his gaze carried a hint of provocation.

She clenched her jaw tight, her composed and cold face unable to find words.

The Jacobs Family’s project did require careful attention; the compensation alone was higher than her salary for several years.

"Besides, I am the boss, you have to listen to me."

His thin lips pressed slightly, the hint of an almost imperceptible smile at their edges.

"Fine."

Evelyn Clayton raised her eyebrows, taking a deep breath, her gaze cold.

Looking at James Grant’s irritating expression, she held back the urge to rush up and slap him, and turned to leave the office.

"Bang!"

The door slammed shut with a loud noise.

James Grant slightly lowered his head, and in a moment unseen by Summer Monroe, his eyes curved into a crescent moon in detachment.

"Director Grant, haven’t you and Miss Clayton always had a good relationship? What happened now..."

Summer Monroe teased, her smile shallow.
