Chapter 145: Chapter 145: At Worst, Mutual Destruction
The words came quickly and urgently, making Matthew Sullivan’s face slightly distorted with agitation.
Clearly it was supposed to be a business discussion, but now it’s involving matters of the Grant family’s private affairs.
The meeting could only be temporarily interrupted.
Everyone filed out, Evelyn Clayton tried to find James Grant in the crowd, but to no avail.
As soon as the meeting was interrupted, that man already left in a hurry.
Evelyn Clayton felt a bit disappointed and walked over to Jasper Grant.
"Director Grant, could you help me find out where James went?"
Jasper Grant smiled ambiguously, "Seems like your feelings for my brother run deep, just apart for a short while and you’re impatient to find him."
Faced with his teasing, Evelyn Clayton simply smiled faintly.
Jasper Grant spoke no further and made a few phone calls, then turned around and looked at Evelyn Clayton.
"Brother may not be in a good mood, he has already gone to The Orchid Club."
"Okay, thank you."
With that, Evelyn Clayton turned to leave.
But Jasper Grant quickly caught up in two strides beside her.
"I’m also worried about brother, I’ll go with you."
Evelyn Clayton showed a hint of hesitation in her eyes but ultimately did not refuse.
The two drove directly to The Orchid Club.
The vast club was resplendently decorated, Evelyn Clayton did not know which private room James was in.
She wandered aimlessly in the long corridor like a headless fly.
Just after turning a corner, she heard a commotion.
She quickly stepped forward and stopped in front of a private room door.
Inside, a man’s cold voice came through.
"If it weren’t for you reneging, how could the financial chain break?"
Right after, there was a bang followed by a scream, all amidst the sound of a breaking liquor bottle.
Such a high-end club having a brawl quickly drew everyone’s attention.
People in the adjoining rooms all craned their necks to see what was happening here.
Evelyn Clayton was full of worry, she knew James Grant was inside.
Though she didn’t know who was conversing with him, the outcome wouldn’t end well for the other party.
Yet, since it was a public place, if he continues to let things go unchecked and make a scene, it would be hard to resolve.
She opened the door and entered.
The room was littered with broken bottles and shattered glass, the air was filled with the scent of alcohol mixed with blood.
Evelyn Clayton frowned, almost ready to retch.
She took a deep breath, collected herself, and then saw James Grant standing angrily beside her.
Perhaps injured due to the earlier fight, his hand was bleeding continuously.
As for the man opposite, his head and face were covered in blood, making it impossible to discern his features.
With so many people rushing in, the man knew his life was not in danger, which only emboldened his shouts.
"James Grant, you’re a reckless outlaw, this matter isn’t over, I’ll never let you off!"
James Grant was about to strike again but was held back by Evelyn Clayton gripping his bleeding hand.
"Don’t be angry, it’s not worth it with scum like this."
Her voice was calm, like a shot of adrenaline, bringing James Grant back to full composure.
However, Evelyn Clayton did not plan to let it go just like that.
Her expression was cold as she walked over to the man covered in blood.
Casually picking up a relatively intact wine bottle from the table, she smashed it directly on the coffee table.
Fragments splattered, the man jumped in fright, taking two steps back, a hint of fear in his eyes.
"Clearly it’s you who are disloyal, if you are disrespectful to him, I won’t let you off either, at worst we’ll both go down."
She emitted a determined aura, seeming not to be joking.
Perhaps the next second, the half wine bottle in her hand would pierce into the man’s head.
