Chapter 1264: Chapter 1255: The Decision (Part 3)
Xia Siyu snorted and complained, “Do I care about your announcement? I’m not anyone’s wife, it just so happens that I’m married to you. You think announcing it is a big deal? You think I’d be grateful for it?”
Bo Yan burst into laughter the moment he heard her complaint.
The seriousness he had just accumulated disappeared instantly. Xia Siyu’s inexplicable confidence and strength, her calm demeanor in the midst of adversity, which used to be just her cute quirks, were now a reassuring force.
He nodded, “Yes, even if we make it public, it should be the two of us together.”
Xia Siyu wouldn’t let it go, “Even if that’s the case, I should be first, and you second.” Normally, announcements are made together, but since Bo Yan insisted on his personal declaration, why should she care about his announcement? If he dared to provoke her, she might just announce a divorce certificate to drive him crazy.
Bo Yan nodded, “It’s my fault.” He actually recognized that Xia Siyu worked hard for her success. Although he did “teach” her some acting skills and gave her pointers, Xia Siyu’s status, acting skills, and work ability were entirely her own achievements.
Maybe it was because of her family, or maybe it was her mother’s education. She has always been independent, although her life might be a mess, she has assistants and can hire a nanny, so there are no real issues. Her work, her thoughts are all independent. She confessed when she liked him, made the first move to kiss, and even took the initiative for the first time. But when she didn’t like him anymore, she would just walk away, and he couldn’t hold her back.
Even though they fell in love again through a mixture of coaxing and persuading, he understood that the foundation of love isn’t physical entanglement, a marriage certificate, or having a common enemy. Of course, these are basic parts, but they can lead to feelings. The most important thing in the relationship is: equality and respect.
So when others called her “Sister-in-law,” she would unhappily retort, “You should call him brother-in-law.” When Bo Yan said he wanted to announce Xia Siyu as his wife, she actually wanted the announcement to be about her first.
It seemed unreasonable, seemed like she was throwing a tantrum, but he understood that she didn’t want to rely on him. Yet, when big things happened, like Qin Baizhou getting angry enough to hit someone, Bo Yan remained calm, while Xia Siyu was composed right from the beginning.
She has never been a flower clinging to others nor was she interested in being a queen. She is simply herself. If you give me equality, I’ll give you respect back. If you don’t respect me, I won’t look up to you.
Seeing Bo Yan’s expression soften, Xia Siyu lowered her slightly tilted chin. She glanced at his face and then looked away, deliberately asking in a rough voice, “Does it hurt?”
She was referring to the slap Qin Baizhou had given him.
Bo Yan smiled and shook his head, “It doesn’t hurt.”
Xia Siyu snorted again, “Are you stupid? Just standing there letting him hit you. Don’t you know a gentleman uses words, not fists? Couldn’t you explain yourself?”
Usually, Bo Yan was the one lecturing her, but this time it was the other way around, with Xia Siyu talking to him. Bo Yan didn’t get angry at all. He could hear that although she spoke roughly, her tone was full of care for him, “I’ll be more careful next time.”
With that, Xia Siyu couldn’t help but giggle, then snuggled into his arms. Finally, they met again; it had been so long since they last saw each other.
