Chapter 167: After Red, It’s His Turn
Olvia had never considered the possibility of meeting Alucard again. To her, their paths were on entirely different parallel lines; there was no way they could ever intersect.
Yet, Alucard’s exploits frequently appeared in newspapers, making it impossible for Olvia to forget him. If she were to meet this pirate who had coincidentally saved her life once, what would he do? Kill her? Ignore her?
But Olvia never would have imagined that Alucard’s first words upon seeing her would be, "Too bad you’re not a virgin." For a moment, she stood there stunned, unsure how to react.
"That’s... that’s Alucard, right?" A woman, whose appearance was nowhere near Olvia’s, with shoulder-length black hair and thick glasses like the bottom of a beer bottle, looked at Alucard, disbelievingly saying, "The pirate who dominated the news headlines just two days ago, with a bounty that high."
"700 million? You’ve got to be kidding me!"
"Why did we run into a monster like this?"
While there was a saying on the seas that "bounty" didn’t equate to personal strength, the figure "700 million" was truly terrifying.
Alucard slowly walked towards Olvia. Under her slightly terrified gaze, he roughly grabbed her jaw with his index finger and thumb.
What should have been a romantic gesture between a man and a woman, when done by Alucard, always carried a sense that he was about to eliminate someone.
Indeed, the news consistently described Alucard as "among the pirates who have killed the most in pirate history."
Immediately, a crew member tried to retrieve a gun hidden in the corner of the ship’s bottom. Though Olvia’s face was held by Alucard and she couldn’t move, her eyes shifted towards the crew member. Seeing him make a move to shoot, she quickly stopped him, "Stop! Everyone!"
Hearing Olvia, the man who was about to raise his gun froze for a few seconds before lowering it.
Alucard seemed not to have noticed anyone trying to shoot him. The corners of his mouth curved slightly as he released Olvia. "Never mind. I’m not that desperate yet."
Even though he hadn’t mastered the skill of discerning a woman’s virginity just by looking, Olvia was quite obvious, and Alucard could infer it. Not only was she not a virgin, she likely had a child. It wasn’t that he looked down on non-virgins; it was a matter of a vampire’s preferred taste.
As Alucard turned to leave, many, including Olvia, felt as if they had been yanked from hell back to heaven. The feeling of surviving death, and the instant relief from pressure, caused many to collapse directly onto the deck.
...
Several days later, Holy Land of Mariejois.
The old man with long white hair and a "mountain"-shaped beard continued to carefully read a history book on culture, written by Professor Clover from Ohara in the West Blue. The other four Five Elders, their expressions stern, listened to a CP agent standing before them, reporting vital classified information.
The CP agent, dressed in a dark blue suit, stated, "Yes, as just reported, that merchant ship initially drew our attention because it had contact with Alucard and survived. However, upon further investigation, we found they briefly mentioned the history of the World Government in their conversation. Therefore, we suspect they are not merchant ships but historical scholars."
Neither Alucard nor Olvia and her companions would have ever guessed that their meeting would expose Olvia and her group as historical scholars.
The golden-haired Five Elder mused for a moment, then said, "Observe them in secret. Once confirmed, have the Marines stationed in that area wipe them all out... No, that’s not right. Even if there’s just a hint of evidence that they are researching World Government history, eliminate them immediately."
"Yes!" the CP agent responded, then left the office at the Five Elders’ signal.
At this point, the long white-haired Five Elder closed his book and said, "I suspect that group is from Ohara."
"Oh?" The other four glanced at the white long-haired Five Elder. The handlebar-mustached Five Elder thought for a moment, then said, "That remote small island in the West Blue? There are indeed rumors that it’s a place that produces many scholars."
The curly-haired Five Elder said, "The last person to collect all the Poneglyphs that recorded the World Government’s history was the Pirate King Roger. According to reliable intelligence, he likely distributed those Poneglyphs to other members of the Roger Pirates, hiding them somewhere."
"Ah..." The kimono-clad Five Elder rubbed his temples. "But we can’t rule out the possibility that he discarded the Poneglyphs after deciphering their contents. We previously received intelligence that Roger met Alucard before heading to the Final Island. On his solitary journey, he met Whitebeard."
"Now that Alucard has met those who might be historical scholars, doesn’t it suggest he might have obtained the secrets of the Poneglyphs?" The golden-haired Five Elder’s tone already carried a hint of worry.
"In that case, it’s even more necessary to eliminate him." A sharp, murderous glint flashed in the long white-haired Five Elder’s eyes. "Previously, because of his large-scale pirate hunting, we found him somewhat useful and left him alone for now. But the situation is different now."
"After Red is dealt with, he’s next, right?" The curly-haired Five Elder articulated the unanimous sentiment of the five present.
"Should we send someone to monitor Alucard, just like with those archaeologists?"
"Don’t rush. Red hasn’t been arrested yet. Alucard can have a little more time to roam free."
"Once Red is dealt with, he’s next!" The Five Elders repeated this sentence.
