Chapter 116: The Female Soldier Seeks Cooperation
"A red stone tablet..."
After listening to Alessia’s explanation, Alucard couldn’t quite place what that was. The main issue was that he had been in this world for so long that he had almost integrated into it, as if he had always belonged here. He didn’t remember many of the minute details from the original story that clearly.
However, the fact that the World Government desired that object was enough to explain a lot.
"Take me there, soldier." Alucard rose. He no longer wished to stay here and couldn’t wait another moment.
"You... you don’t know the danger of this thing. Do you want to go against the Government?" Alessia asked in disbelief.
She almost thought Alucard was a fool.
The Government had gone so far as to destroy a nation to obtain that item; it was an extremely troublesome existence now. Wasn’t Alucard afraid of getting burned?
"Shut up, let’s go." Alucard stood and walked out, forcefully pushing the door open.
As a member of the Exeter Kingdom army, Alessia naturally knew what kind of person Alucard was. He was called one of the "Beneath the Legends," second only to the likes of Roger and Whitebeard, and his movements were constantly monitored by the Government.
Following him would undoubtedly be extremely dangerous.
She couldn’t forget that she was currently known as Aliya. The reason the World Government hadn’t discovered her true identity as Andoria Alessia was precisely because they hadn’t overly investigated her.
If she acted with Alucard, she would definitely be investigated by the Government, and if her true identity was exposed then, she would be finished.
Although she was only slightly older than an infant when she was sent out of the kingdom and not yet fully aware, the possibility of being discovered was minuscule.
Still, Alessia wanted to eliminate even that minuscule possibility. The Exeter Kingdom was also affiliated with the World Government, so naturally, she understood the Government’s power and terror even more.
"Hey! Wait, listen to me..." Alessia mustered her courage, grabbing Alucard’s sleeve, and quickly voiced her concerns.
Alucard remained silent for a few seconds, then suddenly grabbed her with his right hand.
In that instant, besides the suffocating sensation from her throat, Alessia also felt a burning pain in her arm.
This posture lasted for about five seconds before Alucard released her hand.
The suffocating sensation in Alessia’s throat was gone, but the burning sensation in her hand remained. She raised her hand and saw a strange crimson five-pointed star symbol on the back of her hand, surrounded by a complete circle containing strange runes.
"This, this is..." Alessia’s beautiful eyes widened instantly as she looked at Alucard in confusion.
Alucard held up the back of his white-gloved left hand to Alessia, where the same symbol glowed with a faint red light. "It’s a vampire’s curse mark. With this mark, no matter where you go, I’ll be able to sense your location instantly, until you die."
Hearing this, Alessia felt a sense of humiliation from being monitored. She gritted her teeth and said, "You’re going too far!"
"The weak don’t even get to choose how they die." Alucard felt no remorse. It was simply his nature. "Your nation was destroyed by the Government precisely because it was too weak."
Alucard’s lips curled. "Go to Concordia. I’ll follow along. Don’t worry, I won’t kill you until we find the item."
’The weak don’t even get to choose how they die.’ Alucard’s words were harsh, but Alessia deeply resonated with them internally. This man before her was ordering her, but could she also use him?
Alessia thought to herself: with her current strength and influence, she probably couldn’t even touch a single hair on the World Government’s head, not even until the day she died. But this man before her, who didn’t look much older than herself, could actually stand among the world’s top pirates, becoming a thorn in the World Government’s side. If she used him, could she avenge her nation and her father?
In just half a minute, countless thoughts flashed through Alessia’s mind.
Ultimately, Alessia decided to seize this opportunity. Rather than living a life of futile regret, it was better to take a gamble. With that thought, countless methods quickly crossed Alessia’s mind. She turned to Alucard and said, "Alright, I can help you retrieve that stone tablet. But after that, if I have a need, you must help me once."
"Do you really have the right to negotiate with me now?" Alucard chuckled.
"Then I’ll commit suicide right here! Only a member of the royal family can activate the hidden mechanisms in the Concordia Kingdom ruins, and it has to be a living royal!" Alessia said confidently.
Alucard stared at Alessia for a moment. Her gaze remained as firm as ever, not avoiding his at all.
"Interesting," Alucard replied with three words, but it clearly indicated his decision.
"Okay, I have a plan. Given our two positions, and cooperating with a dangerous individual like you, I also need to ensure my own safety." Alessia closed the door again, sat on the edge of the table, and gestured for Alucard to sit opposite her.
"Looks like you’re not just a pretty face, soldier," Alucard said, a smirk playing on his lips, as he sat opposite Alessia.
