The wrap-up of the film crew took place two months later, and Su He's wedding was set for June, less than two months away.
However, with both sets of parents handling the arrangements, Su He, the bride-to-be, had very little to do. Moreover, the basic procedures that had been decided earlier remained largely unchanged, saving her considerable effort.
The problem was, she seemed to have gained quite a bit of weight recently. The dress custom-made last year appeared to have shrunk by a size, and she couldn't fit into it anymore.
She didn't notice it when looking in the mirror, only realizing the ill fit when she put on the dress.
Su He couldn't help but sigh. "How did I gain so much weight!"
In the mirror, she still looked the same.
The only noticeable change was in a certain area below her neck and above her navel, which had directly increased from a B to a C cup. No wonder the clothes felt tighter.
When Lu Yanbei returned from work, he heard Su He lamenting about gaining weight and being unable to wear her dresses. He casually remarked, "You were too thin before, you're just right now."
"But the wedding is approaching soon, and I'm afraid there won't be enough time to choose new dresses." Su He quite liked those dresses and didn't want to spend more time and money on new custom ones.
Lu Yanbei glanced at the red embroidered dress and had an idea. "Why not have someone alter it?"
"No, it's too complicated. If one part is altered, other parts will need to be changed too, otherwise, it won't look right." Su He's sister was a fashion designer, and Su He, having been exposed to it, understood a bit.
She held the dress against herself in front of the full-length mirror, dismissing his suggestion.
"Then have someone make a new one according to the new measurements." Lu Yanbei lacked nothing, especially money.
"Will there be enough time? This craftsmanship looks quite intricate," Su He asked, biting her lip.
"The pattern is already there, two months is more than enough time," Lu Yanbei said, putting his arm around her shoulders to reassure her. Besides, money made things easier. As long as the price was enticing enough, there was nothing that couldn't be accomplished.
Lu Yanbei immediately contacted the embroidery master and settled the matter of the wedding dress. Although the timeframe was tight, the other party agreed to deliver the dress on time within the deadline.
With the wedding attire sorted, the next thing on the agenda was the venue.
They had initially planned to hold it at a hotel, but then felt the banquet hall was too small, so they changed it to a private island. The climate there was mild, and it boasted unparalleled natural beauty, making it ideal for an outdoor wedding.
At first, Su He disagreed, finding it too troublesome.
Firstly, it was too far from B City, and many people would surely be unable to attend the wedding.
Secondly, the cost was too high and not cost-effective.
Just renting the venue was reportedly tens of millions, and the Lu family was also arranging private jets for transportation, adding several million more. Why make such a grand fuss for just a wedding!
Lu Yanbei, however, insisted.
He said it was a once-in-a-lifetime event and had to be grand!
Su He couldn't argue with him and had no choice but to let him have his way.
After all, whoever paid the money was in charge.
During the wedding preparations, Su He's manga was also nearing completion. A new story was brewing in her mind, and she could finally have a good rest.
However, before she could truly relax, Ms. Hong called her over, saying a friend from abroad had taken a liking to her artwork and asked if she was interested in selling it.
Su He was flattered.
"It's that piece you painted in Yuncheng. The other party is willing to offer a million yuan." Ms. Hong had taken Su He as her disciple and naturally looked out for her in all aspects. "If this painting sells, you'll be quite well-known in the art circle, and holding a solo exhibition in the future will be a natural progression."
Su He was overwhelmed with joy and took a long time to recover.
"But that painting isn't perfect..." she said modestly.
"With these things, it's all about first impressions," Ms. Hong said with a smile. "Don't be overly humble. You are my disciple; how bad can your foundation be!"
Su He felt a little embarrassed by the praise. "It's not as good as you say."
"Regardless of the reason, being able to sell it is your capability. Teacher has high hopes for you!" Ms. Hong was not only a painter but also an excellent curator. She had sold countless artworks.
Su He had great talent in this area, and her paintings were extremely spirited. It was just that this girl was too lazy! She wouldn't pick up a brush for days, which was truly a waste of talent.
Every time she thought about it, Ms. Hong couldn't help but nag. "Tell me, how long has it been since you picked up a paintbrush?"
"It's just that the studio was newly established, and I was busy managing company affairs." Su He guiltily touched her nose. "Don't worry, I will definitely keep your teachings in mind and won't neglect my painting because of this."
"It's good that you know!" Ms. Hong changed the subject to the wedding after a few words. "I've watched A Yan grow up since he was little. I'm very pleased that you two have come together."
"Oh, and by the way, I bought a wedding gift for you two when I went abroad. When are you home? I'll have Xiao Fan deliver it for you."
"You've already given me a precious meeting gift. How can I let you spend more money!" Su He said politely.
"Last time was a meeting gift, this is a wedding gift, can it be the same?" Ms. Hong insisted that Su He accept it. After chatting for a while, Ms. Hong went out to meet her mahjong partners.
An hour later, He Shufan appeared at the entrance.
Su He, as the hostess, entertained him.
He Shufan was wearing a light-colored suit. Compared to Gu Yuheng, the playboy, he was much quieter. He seemed gentle but exuded an approachable yet distant aura.
"Coffee or tea?" Su He had attended a few gatherings with them with Lu Yanbei, so they were somewhat familiar with each other.
"Plain water, thank you." He Shufan placed the gift box in his hand on the coffee table and casually found a place to sit.
Sister Li had gone out to buy groceries, so Su He personally went to the kitchen to pour him a glass of warm water.
He Shufan took it, took a symbolic sip, and put it down.
"My mother asked me to bring this over," he nodded towards the coffee table.
"Thank you for making the special trip." Su He thanked him. "Lu Yanbei will be off work soon. Would you like to stay for dinner?"
"No, I have an appointment tonight." He Shufan said, standing up as if to leave.
"Wait a moment." Su He called him back. Then, she hurried back to her room to get a box. "I might not have time to visit Teacher for a while, so could you please take this to her for me?"
He Shufan nodded, his words few.
Lu Yanbei returned and happened to see He Shufan's car leaving.
"What did Shufan come for?" he asked.
Su He was doing yoga in the living room. "Running errands for Teacher."
"What did Auntie give you this time?" Lu Yanbei walked up to her and watched her stretch her legs.
"The gift is on the coffee table, I haven't opened it yet." Su He took several deep breaths and switched to another pose. To have enough stamina to complete the entire wedding process, Su He exercised for an hour every day.
Lu Yanbei glanced back at the box, his expression becoming somewhat strange.
If he wasn't mistaken, the logo on the box was from a well-known international lingerie brand.
He suddenly found himself looking forward to the evening.
